Well I searched around on this wonderful Internet of ours and there seems to be a lot of software for emulating choirs but all of the ones that basically do sound like a real choir to me are about £500 and about 40GB. I'd kind of just like to get a ton of samples of real choirs and manipulate them myself, but I had a hard time finding sample DVDs containing lots of real choir samples - can anyone help me out?

Korg esx1 that powers up however no info appears on lcd which lights up... no other function buttons illuminate. Manual trouble shoot suggest - making sure power supply is securely positined - and asking whether supply is plugged into a wall socket- both have been checked and yielded no favorable results. Any thoughts ideas or suggestions ?

recommend a book, article, or online tutorial

I think it would be nice to have a list of WATMM recommendations regarding what to read on the subject of arranging sound and silence in time. so do this: recommend a book, dvd, article, online tutorial, or informative microfiche tell where to find it and tell a little about it sound alright? The EQ Primer http://www.recordingwebsite.com/articles/eqprimer.php a neat little online guide explaining a few things about EQ with notes about different frequency ranges

Reason 4

I didn't see a topic for this without scrolling down, so I figured I'd be the n00b I'm entitled to be and just start one anyway. I just found out about the release of Reason 4 yesterday and have since done some research on it. The only thing that I can see that is a major upgrade is the sequencer. I don't know how many of you find it useful, but it's a blessing that they've finally added in the ability to map out tempo changes and time signature changes. IMO, you can't make a real electronic music track without at least 9 time sig changes and 64,582 tempo changes. So this will help out quite a bit in this respect. Previously the only way to do this was throu…

http://vemberaudio.se/ this was the coolest commercial sampler before it became free. Can do a lot of stuff. And very intuitive. His synth is awesome too. This is definately better than most samplers I have used. Really awesome effects too.

hat's max/msp questions thread

okay, finally sitting down to figure out max/msp. i have a pirated version of 4.3, here is my first question: i am rebuilding the fm synthesis patch here: http://www.dacs-audio.com/Distribution/Cyc..._74/max_msp.htm as an excercise. i understand how it works, but i do not understand how to set those envelopes up. i see there is a "script-driven envelope" object, but it doesn't seem to have the same number of inlets/outlets as the FM synth example... and more to the point, i can't figure out how to do anything with them. how do i set up the two envelopes like they have shown there? thanks!

im now 6 months into seriously makin tunes, and i feel im startin to get my head wrapped around it suffienctly in most aspects of it, my first musics, a piano concerto, is approaching completetion but there is just one thing which wrecks my head. how do you make bollock achingly powerful bass witha soft synth? layering up 20-30 different basslines doesnt cut the cheese, it just sounds messy, no amount of playing around with eqing/compression seems to yeild substandard results, whats the trick? please divulge.

Question about VSTs 1 2
by Guest TI-86- 25 replies
- 1.8k views
I'm currently transferring to a university that has a "music technology class". The class requires an "Apple" computer, and I was considering if I should buy a "Macbook Pro". The problem is that all my VST's are Windows based. I checked "kvraudio.com" and discovered that all the VSTs I'm using are both for Windows and Mac. I'm not sure if this means that the VST's simply run on both, or that there are different versions of the VST for each operating system. If I already have a Windows version of a plug-in, would it be possible to run it on a Mac version of a DAW (such as Ableton Live or Cubase)? From my own research it doesn't look like you can, but I'm hop…

Ableton 7

http://www.ableton.com/live-7-whats-new Liking the idea of the drum rack ... that's definitely something that was needed but by god the key/drum editing sucks so badly within Ableton. If there is one thing to improve in my mind it was the unusable key editing. I do so sadly miss the ease of which one could lay down some beats with earlier versions of Cubase but now even the drum editing in the most recent versions of Cubase sucks so badly. Really I don't think I've found a sequencer beyond Cubase vst 2.4 with an intuitive and fast drum editor. Fruity Loops had a decent editor especially for newbies but to me wasn't a patch on the older versions of Cubase.

Adobe Audition Question

So ill be working away at somthing and ill go to stretch out a sample in the multi track. Usually i can do this by just having the clip stretch selected and grabing the bottom corner of the block. But for some stupid reason ill go to stretch and its like the program forgot it could do that. The clip stretch is still selected but the program kind of pulls burn out and i cant do it anymore. Ill look around and try to figure it out, fail, get annoyed and go do somthing else. Then later ill come back and i can stretch again. what the fuck??

Earlier today I felt like making a lullaby like the ones you'd hear as a kid, but I figured that I needed samples from a music box. I have an old rusty music box on my shelf, but the wheels squeel and make crackling noises when it plays, so the quality of my recordings are horrible. Does anyone have any good music box samples that I may fiddle around with?

Anyone know about electronic drums?
by Guest Rambo- 8 replies

I was going to buy a drum kit but ive changed my mind, im probably going to get an electronic kit. I haven't really got a clue about them though. Questions 1) I know there's different types of drum triggers but i'm looking for drum pads as close as possible in feel to acoustic drums (all sexy and touch sensitive and shit) and i want to set it up like a typical kit. Any suggestions ? 2) Do i have to have a drum synth to go with it ? Ideally i just want to hook a load of pads up to a laptop and play vsts if that's possible. 3) If i dont need an actual drum synth with sounds on it, do i need some sort of go-between to plug the pads into ? (pads>interf…

is my edirol UA-25 that i just bought faulty?
by Guest greenbank- 2 replies

i just bought an edirol UA-25 and the MON.SW button does not toggle when pressed - is this right? i went and left the manual on my desk at work so don't even know what the button is supposed to do but if it's dodgy i need to send back asap. all the other buttons are toggle ones that remain depressed if desired except this one on mine is acting like a momentary switch (only on when actully being pushed). if anyone knows and could help me out that'd be awesome, cheers!
