Oh yeah, adapting to vocal styles is a big one for me too. I wasn't that into Fugazi at first because I had never liked punk that much and didn't connect with the vocal delivery, but I appreciated the instrumentation and kept listening, and pretty soon a switch flipped and I started to love the way they sing as well. And recently I've become really obsessed with their whole discography - I'm so glad I stuck with it.

For me set and setting have a lot to do with it. Some albums and songs have only really clicked for me when listened to in a particular mood, or a certain place, or while doing some specific activity. Also time of day can make a big difference. Sometimes I'll check something out, like it, but think "oh wait I'm REALLY gonna get into this if I blast it at 7am" and then save it for the next day. I've also gotten a lot better over the years at determining on first listen if something might grow on me later. I guess that's just knowing your tastes, but I used to be more dismissive if stuff didn't click right away and now I can tell more easily if it has grower potential and deserves to go into rotation and get a few more chances.

been really busy at work with the school year starting up and haven't had time to dig into these too deep yet but I had a really wonderful experience listening to London B. Helsinki never fully clicked with me but I'm excited to dip into the rest asap. I always take it slow with the live sets, I can't handle binging them. The thing I've found challenging but also really exciting about these ones is just how flexible they are. Even more than the onesix sets which were really fluid, these just feel like they're bending and twisting and defying expectation all over the place. Hitting a sick groove then just stopping. Beat just disappears. Comes back. Disappears again? Incredible drills! But the tempo is drifting or something? And some weird pads glide in contrasting with the tuned percussion and the key seems like it's changed but maybe that's another layer I hadn't noticed before coming to the fore and revealing a microtonal depth that had been lurking beneath the surface all along? Wild shit, absolutely never sitting still.

YES fucking loved the first hyrbid, still listen to it regularly (especially in the mornings, one of the all time great morning albums). really excited for this.

I love this album, it's so tactile, feels like all these textures are rubbing up directly against my brain. Spore reminds me of Autechre's Tankakern, with the springy reverb and dense paranoid sort of atmosphere.

If this doesn't include Outside kickass violin solo it's a bad book

5 has been my favorite for a while now. I love the vibe that it has running through all those tracks - the spacious atmospheres, skeletal beats, synth blasts. it's so satisfying, makes an excellent album even on its own. spTh is ASMR

I love Inscryption so much, one of my all time favorites. I've been really taking my time in Elden Ring, slowly exploring everything I can and leveling up a bunch before moving on to any new area. I'm enjoying it a lot but still in no rush to finish. Might take a break from it for a bit to play Signalis, I've been eager to give that a try for a while and I'm kind of in the mood for horror.

Yeah I watched the first few seasons and enjoyed it but I kind of lost interest during one of the later seasons, it started to feel so repetitive. It had some great moments but definitely felt like it could have wrapped up sooner.

I've been rewatching Veep and the last few seasons in particular are some of the best comedy I've ever seen.

I liked Incunabula more when I was younger but at some point it shifted to Amber. I think Incunabula is more immediate and fun but Amber is a deeper, more rewarding experience and has better standout tracks (Piezo especially) Both are probably my least favorites of the overall discography but I do love them

For me, Confield is maybe my all-time favorite album so it isn't even close. But I probably do listen to Chiastic more often, it's just a real easy album to put on and enjoy in any state of mind. It's a more obvious comparison but I can never quite pick a favorite between Chiastic and Tri Repetae. Every time I listen to one or the other it temporarily becomes my favorite of that era.

I always felt the same way - bounced off Dark Souls 1 and 3 after a few hours because they felt too repetitive and the combat didn't click for me. But I've been loving Elden Ring. The open world design makes it so much more welcoming - any time a boss or dungeon becomes a grind you can just fast travel to some other part of the map to explore and level up. It's actually been reminding me of playing Morrowind back in the day, just because that's one of the only other open world games that's given me such a sense of mystery and wonder - exploring a bizarre world with great art design where so much of what you find seems unique and there aren't a bunch of map markers and quest arrows telling you what to do.

I loved The Bear. It's really well made - excellent acting and direction, strong character development. But yeah it is very very hectic. Similar to Uncut Gems in that way. Can be a stressful experience but I found it really rewarding overall. I also really enjoyed Slow Horses s1, heard the second season was coming out so I'll have to give that a look someday when I'm back on apple tv

Everyone was right, Elden Ring is good Stormveil Castle is one of the most beautiful locations I've seen in a game. I've died a couple times just trying to get in the best position for a nice screenshot.

COH meets Abul Mogard There's a ton of stuff I've loved this year, and this album is one of the best. Really beautiful

All the Kool & the Gang albums from before 75 are great. I like their first one especially. And the other early funk classics - Sly, P-Funk, etc. Also early rocksteady - The Paragons, The Gaylads. Absolutely love that stuff. And Morton Subotnick of course, in the proto-IDM camp.

Great album, never heard his music before but someone recommended this to me and I'm really enjoying it.
