  1. This is my vote. It’s listed on the artwork but hasn’t shown up anywhere yet.
  2. Gahahaha amazing exchange. This is rescuing my rather lousy day today; nice job
  3. Can we ban whylessness already? bonervan has you covered: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/84583-aphex-twin-new-album-syro/page-8?do=findComment&comment=2205315
  4. Oh man, can’t wait to hear the Manchester track in RealAudio Ultra-lush
  5. Hahaha, brilliant idea for a thread. This happens to me with Richie Hawtin quite often—agreed. There’s a whole long section of DE9: Transitions that I hear the wrong way, if I recall. I also hear like the entirety of the first 4 or 5 tracks on Loudboxer wrong, which drives me fucking crazy, because I love that album.
  6. That’s some clean-ass JavaScript for a simple countdown site. Kudos.
  7. Looks lush, including your Warp bedspread. You should get out of bed tho EDIT: @bonervan
  8. Tru. Sample pack people, are you enjoying having the samples? What are you planning on doing with them? Making tracks with them? Are they enjoyable to listen to on their own?
  9. Honestly, it didn’t grab me right away so I passed on it the one time I had it in my hands at the store. Then I realized that, if anything, I like the second disc more, but by then… TOO LATE EDIT: also, at the time I remember being kinda cheesed off at the Boomkat hype train wondering if maybe Echospace was just a biiiiiit overrated FOOLISH
  10. Haha yeah. I really want the 2cd Liumin as well but, yeah. Hoping for a repress like Boomkat did recently for Tryptych.
  11. Are you guys really trying to decode the numbers 0123456789012
  12. it definitely says SING not SINC so it's a sign that says BADGER CROSSING most likely lol Japan bonus track BADGER CROSSING (FLERBOBJUB KVER303 TENNISBALL MIX) confirmed
  13. What about the bit of printer paper at the bottom that appears to say "…SINC…" in a serif font? Maybe we should speculate about that for 12 pages.
  14. Grinning ginge-face cover WOULD be a great, more humanistic, follow-up to the previous Aphex grin photos. You know, kinda being a grown up now. Like the Ultravisitor cover was Tom J. looking srs in his patented Ultravisitor shirt. More importantly, how is that dude's neck so long??
  15. IIRC the old Warp logo was used on drukqs. Not sure if they already had the new one by that time? Anyway I hope the fucking badger-pizza-box cover art is the real cover art. Or perhaps back cover? I think it's hilarious.
  16. that's fine but it doesn't really matter much either way i'm having fun with it, if it tuckers you out go have a rest and come back when the music is here I just tried foldface-w.jpg without the -w.jpg and there it is. it's a smaller version without the cropped white background bit and it doesn't have any modified EXIF funny business like big bro foldface-w.jpg Yeah I agree. Noodling around is fun. And RDJ does seem to have an interest in these sort of things as well as an interest in messing with people. That said, folks's interpretations of the TH campaign went off the rails quickly because fundamentally, although it was supposed to be "mysterious", it really wasn't so obscure in the end. Reason being that PR is no good if nobody can figure it out. The other thing about the TH campaign was that it was very clear from the beginning that there WAS a mystery (all those X's). For the same reason as above. If you design a mysterious PR campaign but no one realizes it's happening, that doesn't do you any good. So foldface is weird but I don't see any real indication yet that there IS a mystery. Not sure what that means, just saying.
  17. Ah, cool. Is the one star indicating that it is only slightly sure there is encoded data? Looks like 3 stars is more common among the examples. It could be a false positive then. Any difference in stegdetect output for foldface-w.jpg vs. the regular foldface.jpg? I'm wondering if since the EXIF is different (one manipulated, one not), any steg could be as well. Still working on getting a local copy of stegdetect here. Building packages on Linux is not exactly my forte. Same. It's interesting though, I noticed yesterday the lower 'fold' in the image looks like it's had digital noise added to it while the top bit hasn't. Could be some hidden info in there Agreed. Noticed that as well.
  18. Fun! Anyone got a copy of stegdetect handy to paste the output in here? We should be able to figure that out, if there's something to figure out.
  19. Ha, that's funny! That's the exact interview I was thinking of when I said I liked some of his recent interviews. The RBMA one as well.
  20. I dunno, I think a lot of things are getting mixed up together here. That sucks about Alva Noto and those dudes. I find his recorded music amazing still. Even the Ci album blows me away. Everything on r-n really. Rough to hear that he's a douche. I kind of think it is cool that Kompakt became "commercial" in some way. It certainly seems like that was intentional on WV's part and was at least about democratization and reaching a wider audience as it was about *the cash* or whatever. Kompakt has its own more mainstream aesthetic but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing? And I personally find WV's recent work really inspiring and absolutely believe that he IS an artist. There's a high-concept to Gas as well, although because it is also very pleasant ambient music you don't hear as much about it. AFAIK, Gas was re-released because Force Inc. was defunct and the old albums were impossible to get anymore. Right? I don't think that's self-aggrandizement, it's just making the music that people want available to them. And I guess I don't see why simply sampling Kafka is really a big pretentious statement or anything. That album is a techno album, although it is slightly impenetrable in WV's more recent 21st-century style. So... who cares? I've really enjoyed the WV interviews I've watched and read and I think his insights on art and music are legit and interesting. It's pretty clear to me that it's very important to him to keep moving forward, keep trying things, etc. Hence the bunch of "automatic" paintings and the obtuse, jammy, "sloppy" style of his recent tracks, etc. And I totally get that out of his recent music.
