  1. ^ BRILLIANT ^ I have an s5000 but I may try that anyway, sounds wicked fun
  2. Prophet 08 IN THE MIRROR, nice catch. I was man, what synth starts with a low E?
  3. Picked up JJ DOOM on sale this weekend, loving it much more than expected. DOOM over a "clubby" beat like "Rhymin Slang" is actually really fun, I'd enjoy hearing more of that.
  4. it really is unfortunate, because they gave an indication in 09 that they wanted to jump into digital exclusive releases but then just started pressing a bunch of CDs (exclusive cds, not dual formats with a vinyl release also) with no audio previews after? It makes no sense at all to me unless someone changed their mind on the approach. My random guess is that rephlex.com was an experiment. They threw up an initial batch of stuff to see how it would do. And they probably got some sales, but I bet they saw a TON of piracy too. I know every blog in the world was posting “all the analords” RARs at the time and shit. I can see the point of view that they then decided, for them, that rephlex.com digital was actually making piracy easier and more convenient for pirates, and the normal “iTunes effect” of convenience trumping piracy was not a factor for them. So they abandoned the project. /wild specualtion EDIT: anyway who am I kidding, of course I’m gonna buy this.
  5. Ha, brilliant. Glad the dig got a BT and Skrillex fan to interview Tom there. Perfect.
  6. So… is this album good? I tried to listen today at work and found the stream moderately non-compelling?!?! I love Dr Who Dat though.
  7. So, can I buy these yet? Will someone post when it is possible? I don't have Facebook.
  8. Weird, but I like the way Joyrex handled this, and I second the emotion that it’s great that mostly this turned into a Cylob appreciation thread. Well done watmm
  9. I will try Ufab : nuff said. 70/10 RIP : I don't think I "get" this one yet. It's nice, but it doesn't really satisfy me for some reason. Will keep trying. 68/10 Last Step — Sleep : Shockingly pleasant! But pretty short. But also the artwork is great! 146/10 Eleh — Radiant Intervals : I keep listening to this on headphones which is probably a dumb idea. But the artwork is great! 212/10 Farben — Textstar : Finally own this for real. And okay, it's technically a comp, but still. One of the best albums of all time imo. 21736/10 Gjoll — Way Through Zero : Insane bargain-bin find! Hardcore! Gnarly! Face melts off! I'm into it. 72364/10 Bibio — Fi : People actually don't like Bibio? This seems crazy to me. Anyway this album is nice but I like the stuff that came after it better. 472/10 Passengers — Original Soundtracks 1 : This has amazing Enoishness + the perfect amount of Bono (some but not much). I love this record, psyched to have it. 387654287/10 Prince — 10,000 Wallpaper : This is a bootleg but has the best sound quality I've ever heard on a bootleg ever. Also, this is the most fun awesome music ever recorded. 7892356493276492/10
  10. Well I mean, there are other reasons to lowpass a track while mastering. But yeah given JR's info mastering from a lower quality source would make the most sense.
  11. I think I enjoy the later “solo Stinson” Drexciya releases the best, too. I mean it’s all great, but right around 7 Storms time it got REALLY eerie and funky and weird and beautiful and kind of all falling apart a little and that’s the stuff I like the best.
  12. Good thread. Gentle People are great. I just picked up a copy of Mix Gently from the used bin a week or two ago. It's QG
  13. I had a dream that I owned this album and listened to it once and it was QG. Thinking of buying it now.
  14. Aw man I've always wanted a tiny kitchen-style TV in my studio.

Some good bongo analysis in this thread.
  16. I'm glad I clicked over because those soundclouds linked via the Skrillex site are very clean-sounding. “Real” promos, at least according to the SC user (a Japan distributor)? Best copies I've heard of these tracks so far! Thanks Skrillex!
  17. Haha that was some dedicated trolling a few posts back. Well done. Who gives a shit about acoustics, don't you guys all make techno? Derrick May did all his best tracks inside a flaming oil can that was floating down a river of industrial slime, so don't worry about it. Personally I rock the vitamin D in the studio (same brand though) because if you're in the studio you're probably not getting too much sunlight. Nah mean? Anyway, OT, here's the RM1x boot-up sequence, for those who haven't seen it. It is a very enjoyable boot-up sequence: http://www.twitvid.com/3J5HS
  18. You guys are totally ignoring my post where back there I tried to make something REAL happen, maaaaaaaaaaaan
  19. Good call. Detuning is definitely a defining characteristic.
