    AE_LIVE

    I’m almost done downloading these!
  2. I’ve been doing the bizcaj subscription… it can be hit and miss, but new music every Friday, hard to beat that! It comes with the back catalog too. “One Hundred Mornings” and “Advanced Memory Suite” are two of my favorites! Haven’t heard the other one yet. Would love to rap with anyone else who’s got the discography and has dug in more — I’m sure there’s some more gems in there!
  3. All of it is on spotify now, including Elseq's 2-5 OMG. apple music as well I bought the ’boards, but haven’t splashed out for the Elseq’s yet. Thanks Sarge and Madge!
  4. lol I’m not sure I even have enough hard disk space for all these this is mental
  5. Whoa, amazing So the existing AE_LIVE release is going to be extended to be larger now? Moderately alarmed that it doesn’t seem to be in my purchase history anymore on the site, I definitely have the first batch. Could just be because the site in b0rked at the moment though. This is great!
  6. Holy shitballs. They should do a Matador stateside release with alternate tracklisting and worse mastering for old times sake. jk this rules
  7. Not typically too into the mall thing, but Palm Mall Mars is pretty great!
  8. Hype! I really like the first one.
  9. Oh, I’ve been enjoying some Haircuts for Men recently. That’s too bad that some of it is lazy — didn’t know that.
  10. That’s some good dfw analysis earlier in this thread, nice job. I personally don’t / “can’t” find Louis CK’s comedy funny anymore (to answer a question from earlier in the thread) not because I’m a poser PC dillweed, but (as also, astutely, mentioned earlier in the thread) in some cases it’s not _possible_ to separate the artist from their art. The fulcrum that made Louie’s act work is that he said “bad” things, but in saying them “honestly” (in retrospect: not so honestly) he was doing a service, and this was in some way speaking unspoken truths, etc. The distance between the person he described and the person he seemed to actually be is what made it funny. But if you recontextualize his shit to be, a guy who is actually a shitbag, but clearly intelligent, simply explaining his foibles and in that way hoping to be redeemed for them, well that is not so funny, because life doesn’t work like that. It’s like a double-twist ending: imo what made him funny was that the Louie in his stories was, we assumed, exaggerated for comic effect. It’s actually not so funny to just literally hear somebody explain all the bad shit they do and think. I think a lot about one of his earlier specials called “Chewed Up”, I think, where like, a majority of the special is him complaining about his wife (whom he eventually divorced — which also formed the bedrock for a few years of his act) in like, an extremely cruel way. I used to like that special because it was uncomfortable and somewhat amazing to see someone be so clearly cruel and unhappy onstage — but I guess I always assumed it was a construction in some way. Like, how can this be his act and then he go home at night? I guess now I know the answer. It worked because he’s a shitbag and didn’t care about hurting other people. It’s like — oh. I thought it was a magic trick, which was the whole source of enjoyment.
  11. Buncha NICE PRICE jazz: Ornette On Tenor Herbie Hancock — Sextant Coltrane — Olé and also Sun Araw — The Saddle Of The Increate
  12. A DVD player? doesn't play them PS4 blue ray won't either ??? It worked on my ps3, haven't tried ps4 though. I have a first gen ps3 not sure if that makes a diff. Plays in my cd/dvd drive on the computer. IIRC it’s a data DVD of plain WAVs. So yeah throw it in a computer. I copied them over and stuck the files in iTunes.
  13. Damn. Soundin’ pretty cool
  14. Oh man I’ve got almost all of my records from Goodwill. Back in the day it used to be 45 cents per album at my local store — I would pick stuff up just if the cover was good, etc. Tons of decent and great records. These days I don’t quite have the same luck, and prices are nowhere near as good. But yeah, this is so much fun. I wish I had way more time to poke around at this. #DIGGIN
  15. Just completed my semi-annual catchup on this thread, downloaded a bunch of stuff. Amazing resource (this thread I mean), keep chatting folks! Donovan remains one of my faves — psyched to find some stuff I’d missed out on. :) The “Cool 3D World” album from a few pages back is melting my mind too Where do you folks go to hear about this stuff? I’d like to try and get into following more closely. Is it a reddit scene?
  16. Interesting, saw the CTD in the store last week. The text treatment on the spine is slightly different, is what made me notice that it was a repress. Shame this couldn’t have been coordinated a bit more, would love to have re-bought these CDs with extra tracks!
  17. [doesn’t read thread] So has anyone asked him to up Steinvord yet?

    TIDAL

I really should buy all the rare Prince stuff they have up on TIDAL before it all goes away, but I just can’t get excited about it.
