  1. Trump won't get impeached, it's a publicity stunt by the centrist dems. Though of course, feel free to surprise me. If you're a populist-left kinda person here is some important news on the fake populist that is Elizabeth Warren. The real candidates are Bernie and Yang, she is not. I held off for a long time, and still held off doubt even though there were about 1000 red flags, but this is it concerning her, I no longer support her. The reality is, if you take big money, you are holden to the people who give you said money.
  2. yeah I'm super cynical. I really doubt anything will be fixed. The rich DGAF, they are rich enough to shield themselves from adverse effects indefinitely. And the conservatives who don't believe in climate change, or just think it's overblown, think they are more intelligent than they are and have incredibly bad reasoning skills. It's not a hard thought to defer to what scientists say, and when most of them independently agree on something, that thing is probably right. But I suppose you need the initial belief that science for most scientists is a passion based thing and not a secret conspiracy to impose liberal ideas on conservatives. 70%-80% of the people I associate with on a daily basis are conservative, and the ones that don't believe in climate change have real shitty, tribal reasons for not doing so, and the ones that do think it should be up the corporations to step up and do something about it because "government has never done anything right". They just don't get how corporations work , lol. The reality is, there won't be a motive for corporations UNTIL THERE IS FALLOUT from this crap. So it'll be much too late. So yeah, I'm of the opinion nothing will be done about climate change really until idk.... 2050. We'll probably still have people debating whether it's even real or not, even if temperature/weather/etc. records keep getting smashed.
  3. They probably want to include in the video someone it is more likely to affect than us elderly boomers in their 20s-40s. A big theme in the climate debate is how it's mostly going to affect future generations. Even though my house has now flooded twice in record breaking storms in the past 2 years. First from Hurricane Harvey and now Tropical Storm Imelda. PROBABLY JUST A COINCIDENCE.
  4. The Lighthouse looks F'n awesome. Me and all the hipsters are gonna love this film.
  5. I guess this. I am under no illusion that anything that happened in the film represents reality in any way, nor does it undermine it or make fun of the Manson Murders. They are two separate things in my mind. I'm sure there is a line somewhere when it comes to changing history in a movie, which probably has to do with the writer/director trying to persuade you of something by lying to you. But that movie is not that thing. How many times have we seen alternate history movies where the nazis won, or video games with that same plot? Same thing. I don't think some video game where you kill nazis who managed to win WW2 undermines the actual history of WW2. btw idk why I keep referencing nazis. Just the easiest example in my mind.
  6. I don't see the issue. All that coming from the same director who had Hitler killed in a movie theater by burning to death and having his corpse shot up. He seems to like to play around with exaggerated versions of people from history and is upfront about it, often exaggerating the stereotypes of the person in the story. I don't see that as disrespectful really as long as it's obvious and not trying to persuade you in any way. The point of it is entertainment and Quentin has said that a number of times in interviews. But if you didn't like it, you didn't like it.
  7. Everyone's been comparing it to Taxi Driver so I'm expecting the comic book version of that. hopefully it'll be better, and Taxi Driver is a good film to boot so.
  8. Joker looks interesting. Half of the reviews saying it's a masterpiece or near masterpiece and the other half saying it's pretentious trash with a small percentage saying it was okay. Can't wait to see which side I fall on.
  9. Man the first Godfather movie is really good. Not a boring moment.
  10. My favorite is Melda's Turboverb. Worth every penny and my favorite digital verb. And if you want retro, go Valhalla Vintageverb.
  11. idk it's all speculation anyway. I'm just going based on the rate he's released tracks the past 15 years. It's totally possible he has an LP ready. I just doubt he has another LP worth of complex tracks like Collapse or Syro ready, and if he does wanna do another LP of the crazy complex stuff so soon I don't think he'd have come out with Collapse and would have saved the tracks for said LP. After all the tracks off Syro are made from what.. 2005-2014? Collapse probably from 2014/2015-2018. It's barely been a year. If another LP comes out soon it'll probably be ambient stuff which is evident from his live sets. well I wasn't and wasn't saying you were wrong to interpret it as such. Which is why I elaborated.
  12. I didn't say that. I just said I don't think enough time has gone by for an LP to be dropped really, especially with the Collapse EP release.
  13. I don't see aliens being a huge secret for very long in the govt. Said secret for sure won't last decades if it ever happens. Maybe a few years of secrecy, max. attention...trolls... well meaning believers who think faking it somehow will validate it.
  14. yeah this, lol. If he wanted to do an album, we wouldn't have collapse currently imho as they're worthy of going on an LP and he'd have saved them for that.
  15. It's just the original film cut into 'episodes' and is an extended cut as well. Not near 4 hours though, that is crazy. Really cool idea. Think H8ful 8 miniseries was about 3 hours long as a cut.
  16. i don't get why they keep showing BTK if these 2 detectives have nothing to do with his capture. the killers who they do end up catching, to my knowledge, aren't based on real murderers. the ed kemper testimonials don't really seem to offer any insight into helping them catch their killers so in essence- i found about 95% of this show to be blowing smoke and 5% to be somewhat interesting. started season 2 but again: 2 episodes in and all i got was that they're getting a new office. btw: when you know BTK was caught because he sent a word document from his church computer that had his name in the properties, you kinda realize that this is all leading nowhere anyway. Mindhunters is a fictional take on a true story. It isn't trying to faithfully adapt history but trying to make it more entertaining or whatever by sticking loosely to history. Definitely a 'based on a true story' kinda thing. So anything can happen. Btw this is what I heard in some interview when season 1 came out. It's definitely a character driven thing so if you aren't interested in the 2/3 main characters, then you won't like it. It's about how they change the way killers are analyzed and how that changes them.
  17. Joyrex, are you okay? Are you okay? Are you okay, Joyrex? *south park voice* They say he's been in that catatonic state ever since that fateful post. There's nothing physically wrong with him... he just doesn't have the will to live anymore.
  18. That's....style..ist. You STYLEIST! Looks sweet. Thought it was that Junji Ito collection initially till I realized it is it's own thing.
  19. Anyone Playing Wow Classic? I've never played Wow much before but a buddy kinda got me into it yesterday. It's more simple than I remember it being but still an entertaining game.
  20. The issue with this, is that it's a MAJOR logical stretch to assume that just because someone can convincingly tell a story, it means that story is true. There needs to be a higher threshold of belief that involves actual physical evidence when it comes to major claims like "aliens", and not whether or not someone is a convincing storyteller and you just feel his story is true. yeah it's annoying when people try to sound smart by constantly referencing smart sounding things. There's a reason the popular science communicators like Neil deGrass Tyson dumb it down for us layfolk: they actually have something of substance they want to get across and aren't trying to impress you with smart sounding words. And yeah the guy is a good storyteller, it's entertaining to listen to him. But 99.999% chance it's just a story.
  21. Ah, select all the text you want to quote including the quotes and then click "Quote selection". thanks Is there a thread about how CHATMM is a thing again? I just now noticed it's existence today.
  22. Well I mean like a quote in a quote. Like the old watmm. Should have elaborated.
  23. I gotta ask, how do you multiquote? I can only quote one person and I done clicked everything. I've seen a couple people do it, but not many.
