  1. i knew after we got an entire album's worth of marketing for a 14 minute EP that we wouldn't get much else
  2. anyone tried alan wake 2 yet? it looks solid and the reviews seem very positive, but i'm a bit weary as the first game was repetitive as balls and i could do without going through that again...
  3. any promoters reading this need to get them on the same bill, it's the only way we'll know for sure...
  4. this album could be decent if it wasn't for the fucking abysmal drums on every track
  5. the ambient stuff on there is better than antidawn and streetlands* the beat tracks are either total bangers or big ol' floppy flops* basically, this comp showcases burial at his best and his worst* *opinion
  6. nah, it's a live orchestra. the "nomad ensemble" to be precise. source: liner notes
  7. cardiff is a great city. if you get decent weather, stroll down to the bay (via lloyd george ave), pop down to the barrage, and if the tide's behaving you can walk around to penarth across the beach. will probably take you somewhere between 1hr and 1hr 30m from the city centre, depending on your pace or if you prefer something a bit different, check out bute park. it's basically right in the middle of the city centre (next to the castle) and takes no time at all to get around. looks extra lush in the autumn too!
  8. honestly a bit of everything it has moments reminiscent of rifts, the plunderphonics and vaporwave eras, the safdie scores, the recent 'poppier' stuff (but thankfully nothing as gaudy as no nightmares) i think this one's gonna take a long time to digest but initial thoughts are very positive!
  9. eh, i kinda like it it's not blowing my balls off and it obviously isn't a patch on his early output, but it's certainly one of the better tunes he's put out in the past decade imo
  10. same here except for the sealed bit i've rinsed that old boy to DEATH
  11. i guess those artists have all been mistaken for afx at some point or another but yeah, you're prob right, i was just having a bit o' fun
  12. ROS3 = rolando simmons DUR2 = dave monolith FWD2 = skee mask FWD4 = squarepusher not really but could be? but probably not... but who knows? cup of tea anyone?
  13. https://tanks-alot.co.uk/product/ferret-armoured-car/ http://www.armourgeddonrestorations.co.uk/Ferret.php https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1958-mk1-daimler-ferret-scout-nYpMKg seems easy enough to cop one
  14. we already got a single and a couple interviews it's out in a few weeks, be patient brother
  15. nice! i recognise many of those visuals from the live shows
  16. pretty sure the physicals too, but it was a super limited amount and they of course got snapped up immediately a batch of rushup edge records went up in 2017 also, that was like fuckin xmas
  17. printworks and whp records both ended up on the store a few months after those gigs happened, so i'm hoping barca and field day go up eventually
  18. crispy or maybe 1,290,000 seconds is the total runtime of his next EP in response to criticisms of bblr being "too short"
  19. also i was stood near that francis bourgeois chap in the crowd and it turns out he's just as lovely as you'd expect proper phexhead too. guy was getting hyped over that synthacon drop like the rest of us nerds!
  20. the forwards show was proper ace, surprised there hasn't been more buzz around these parts! plenty of crowdpleasers in the set and some lovely unreleased afx acid. soundsystem was nice and bassy, realised it's the first time i've seen rich in an open air setting and it showed. really great to finally see the cube setup in the flesh too. did anyone else pick up on those cryptic messages at the very start of the set? there was a digital text-to-speech voice hinting at what sounded like "the end of days" happening on a certain date but i could barely make it out. maybe once the crispy bootlegs surface we can work it out as a team
  21. favourite moments from the past 20 years of my afx fandom... - discovering rdj after seeing the come to daddy video on the channel 'Q' and it blowing my tiny brain to bits - the tuss whodunnit saga - not afx-specific but his music introducing me to the world of warp/idm (boc, autechre, spusher - the whole blimp/syro rollout - soundcloud dump (this one is at the top! it was by far the most exciting time to be an aphex fan) - field day 2017 (first time seeing the phexmeister general)
  22. beastly track and video would love dan to tour this record with a small orchestra
