John Paul is proper, he pops up in this v briefly (possible repost)
  2. try dating a Vietnam vet's daughter trauma is inherited through socialization in specific environments, so the legacy permeates today
  3. family loss can fuck off, been surrounded by death, illness and institutional healthcare incompetence for the last 3 years i know we dont decide these things, that its the way the universe & nature handle the mortality of life, that theres probably never been a better time to be alive in terms of disease control & palliative care provision....but death dont have no mercy in any land found one way to honour lost loved ones is to make their favourite meals with family, play their favourite music when the moods suits and visit their favourite places, on the 1 hand it can sharpen the sense of absence but it can also provide subtle, warming, gentle pathways that facilitate grief both for the individual & the broader family counselling offers an array of options, everyone handles grief in their own way....but thank the gods that these things are even accessible in the first place, something to consider if family members or yourself need support along the way
  4. Enjoyed S1 & S2 for the simple reason of it feeding so much indecipherable Spanish into the subconscious, that i ended speaking gibberish made-up Español whenever possible, which was nice The Vietnam War ep01 = mint! Impressed by the depth of analysis of European colonialism which while obvious often gets overlooked in whats seen as a US foreign policy disaster, the extent of its savagery and greed, the fall-out during WWII and its immediate aftermath, the personal biography of H.C.M., the extent of his travels to the US & Europe searching for resolutions to independence which were always casually dismissed. The map work is a bit of personal fetish too, so the broader east Asian complexities as the Cold War took hold were given space & time to breath. Far more graphic than the sanitized "news" coverage of conflicts, where death and slaughter are masked by other agendas, it gives it so much emotional heft. 10/10, looking forward to more of these which is ideal as the seasons shift and it gets late increasingly early.
  5. as a neutral thought Rogers was unlucky, 1st the Suarez debacle, then Gerrard's last minute slip when they came oh so close to the title, then the whole hoo-hah over Gerrard leaving, effectively culling their 2 best players when they needed them most & when Rogers needed squad stability compared to what he was up against with the budgets of fellow competitors, thought he did as well as could be realistically expected now Klopp has had the whole Coutinho soap opera rumbling over the summer, similar patterns of Spanish clubs poaching the PL's best players aka British clubs are "selling clubs", first to the Italians, then when certain Inglan players went to France (ok Waddle & Dorigo arent a pattern) but then Spain for the last couple of decades....it never ends well although Spurs have shown how to re-invest transfer money successfully re-Bale's fee getting spread around thoughtfully the cosmic alignments & market for players has really hammered Liverpool over the last few years, granted buying Balotelli was just plain fkn thick, but its always good to have a powerhouse outside of London & Manchester, for the plain sake of purely competitive reasons & from loathing for the Chelskis & Citehs of this world as for Brendan, Celtic are my family's club, think they'd be a much better addition to the PL than the likes of the Nigels @ C-Palace & other yo-yo flotsam that dont even try and get the ball down & play....would draw huge crowds + Anglo-Saxon scum would have the joys of negotiating awaydays in Glaswegian environs @ best ill-suited to the health & welfare of their supporters, complete brucie bonus all round! if the Swans me own beloved Cardiff can play in an "English" division, why not a Scottish giant? anyway, its friday + an early finish = Volcano time
  6. = more space junk get em both in a rocket ship & ......
  7. to play devil's advocate - as you seem the main main-stayer of the, as you quote it "worst thing i've ever seen on television" line, what shows for you stand out as high lights in recent telly viewing, compared to say Twin Peaks? you dont have to be arsed with a full synopsis, just the outlines, is it "all tv is crap, dumbass" or "The Great British Bake Off is next level" etc.... answers on a postcard bwlad
  8. loved the Civil War series, it really utilized the new medium of war photography in that period & the mass of portraits to another level, just the right balance was lucky enough to see it before setting foot on US soil, ironically Virginia, so it educated a global audience on the roots, causes, locations, personalities, just the enormity of this buried giant in the collective psyche thing about Ken Burns though is, he's never gonna drop some knowledge on apple trees, pruning & grafting new cuttings in time for winter/which binder is best etc, think of the cardigans Ken, think of the cardigans
  9. aka the Paula Radcliffe, thats the thing, you win all these medals at elite athletics, where every other fkr is doping, & then you get remembered for that re-Merka - Trump is all over our media, to the extent a break is required where music & work are the only interactions with specific technology like the Tory/Brexit circus wasnt enough, its North Korea this, Iran that, where the fuck is the reality any more not that it ever exists through that medium anyway its away from the matrix, exercising as regularly as possible, away from Drive-Thru blizzards of lies, in the mountains, with a growing arsenal of semi-automatic weapons & tinned foods, cos, you never know these days, Trump drops a deuce on Moscow, clouds of radiation get blown back across the continent, in fact, i'm only wearing khakis from now on, even khaki pajamas, wrap around shades & a baseball cap, even at night, so you have to put the headlights on full to see when driving fk it Romans werent really different, what was the question again
  10. public info spoof w/blood curdling threat to the nation's yoof, clearly surviving Jimmy Savile in the 70's wasnt enough whenever i see the term "weaver/weave", that olde crusty/new-age traveler expression "yogurt-weaver" leaps out from all angles, haunted by crusty parlance Dawson's 's got a very Gorky's Zygotic Mynci meets Martin Carthy/Norma Waterson meets The Incredible String Band kinda vibe going, the 2nd track is just this side of strange enough to flow sweetly edit - Sun Ra t-shirt peaking thru
  11. Gardeners' World with accompanying diazepambient music let the gentle plant & tree worlds slowly immerse their way into your psyche, not the full pretentious zen but actual gardening & developing specific species & areas is fkn mellow & calms the mind rage rage against the dying of the light, but in a cardigan & all weather jesus-creepers
  12. if you throw a stick with this particular jack russell, you just get looked at funny in a "is this some kind of game you want to waste my time with, again?" manner imagine John Le Mesurier with rampant Valleys opportunism
  13. cats are cunts, not y'alls cats of course, but species wide..... they commit genocide on local bird life populations with the casual aplomb of a Nazi concentration camp commandant, so much so that A) i suspect they have Nazi regalia stashed away somewhere, & B) i've had to rearrange all me own bird feeders away from a boundary wall where the fascist cats would mug the wee flying creatures from then they have the nerve to sunbathe on my patio despite regular visits from my Ma's jack russell where will it end, cos the bells on collars plots is a complete misnomer, i bet cats were @ Charlottesville in those ranks of Nazis with their spectacular shield wall, if you watch the footage again & listen v closely you can hear the meowwing red pil cat facts *disclaimer - cats have rights just like all the creatures of the earth, just, the slaughter can not continue unchecked even if they are cute
  14. triumphant salute! its bizarre, genuinely dont miss it or think about, but theres something about Britain & Eire where, collectively, we just love (and sometimes live) to get annihilated on booze shithouses like "Bargain Booze" are everywhere & even going to the pub last friday, come 10:45pm, folks present were all beginning to plot the remainder of the evening around which off-licenses sold what....fuck that....everyone of them woulda groaned awake saturday and that grotty washed up feeling is summat i definitely dont miss a few vape hits.....now thats another matter entirely
  15. dont drink anymore, but enjoy someone passing me a bottle of decent Bourbon just to smell.....5 years sober this autumn
  16. was in a similar position with multiple parental cancers, trying to juggle appointments & sketchy care provision..... i'd def have a look for a reliable local advocacy service, because they can admin the NHS &/or other care providers into the correct courses of action, cos sometimes the system fails individual clients & families are left trying to manage the care professional should be doing, it could save you from a lot of secondary stress triggers if yer in the south east theres a surprising amount of places within 60mins that are worth exploring, eg the surprisingly cosy coastal Kent town of Whitsable, or a decent camera and an afternoon around Camber Sands. Even good ol' Canvey Island (of Dr Feelgood infamy) over the estuary in Essex is well worth a mission if you enjoy a challenge, but the entire South Downs either side of Surrey & Sussex is a treasure trove of nature @ its most mellow, Box Hill and the hills around Dorking....still cheap by train & the exercise will lower stress a city will compound multiple stresses, so try & make time for just yourself, plan ahead for when a window appears & get the f*ck out of dodge, once every 3/4 weeks will serve its purpose while the professionals do their thing
  17. its ok, it was all just mindless Scientological noodling & enjoying it was akin to an unquestioning, semi cult-esque, devotion to flabby story telling we live & learn ps: finally finally found the music/title from the Casino scenes that seeps in during a couple of other moments, its the last quarter of "07 - Dark Mood Woods + The Red Room" from Badassalementi's "Ltd Event Series Orig Soundtrack", well worth the shekels, just have to get an extended edit of it together nowww
  18. edit 4 div: theres about 20secs of it on DH's "Low Sustained Mystery", but that quickly gets into static soundscaping any help would be v gratefully appreciated
