Just finished Murakami's Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki. I liked all Murakami books so far. This one was especially subtle and an easy read. Can recommend Now I'm reading The Peregrine by J. A. Baker. Very beautiful language and imagery. Also reading Thinking Animals by Richard David Precht. Precht is a very smart and innovative thinker, his thoughts on the relationship between animals and humans are eye-opening Also started 4321 by Paul Auster. Couldn't really get into it yet, maybe mostly because I'm reading too many books at the same time

On my Macbook I have the possibility to press the trackpad hard when I hover over words like edifice, verdure, garment or bulwark and it automatically translates the word to my mother tongue. That way I could read your (drillkicker's) post without accessing a dictionary web page pretty easily. A handy tool indeed Also, if I press command plus delete it deletes the whole line, not just one symbol. Also a pretty handy

The monopolists need to be smashed. Having 5 Facebooks instead of one wouldn't solve the core issues but it would force them to compete for users. Better privacy options and less ads could be one way to attract users. That would of course require that those services are mutually compatible otherwise the biggest one would always be the most attractive one as it has most users. So mutual compatibility should be required by law. Also an option to turn off all algorithms would be useful -
