  1. Damn, I totally forgot this drum machine book- everyone on this forum should have it on display in their house hahaha: Edit- Fuck, nevermind: https://reverb.com/item/35981178-beat-box-book-limited-edition-drum-machines-book?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12293041906&utm_content=campaignid=12293041906_adgroupid=119218509524_productpartitionid=1169427563222=merchantid=265220883_productid=35981178_keyword=_device=m_adposition=_matchtype=_creative=497396046170&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIisG1s43g8AIVxRB9Ch1MxAROEAQYAiABEgK-FPD_BwE Altho mine doesn’t have the cassette, so maybe it goes for cheaper.
  2. Change your username on the site to Boston Brand, Jim Craddock, or Jim Corrigan.
  3. Total fsol vibes. That head is fucking awesome
  4. No, but that would be awesome. Coincidentally, I did sell some random lotr books on eBay last year that had misprints in them somewhere from the 70s. They went for a decent amount, I can’t remember. Maybe the last thing I sold since the shutdown. But, yeah it’s small on there, it’s the abridged from right before the films came out.
  5. Here’s the way I used up stickers I keep getting but don’t know what to do with. Too bad the wax trax shit I got arrived later, otherwise I would have had a fucking sweet coil, 242, and the wire logo on there.
  6. Sorry about that break, Rubin, this needs to be here hahaha. Bumpin
  7. https://www.amazon.com/Robota-Doug-Chiang/dp/0811840417 This is an awesome book, and it’s silver. The artist is currently doing the mandalorian pictures that play at the end. Also, the incal kinda fits your inquiry. I love cool looking books!
  8. I love my Yamaha hs5s. I check bass on a nice audiophile esque stereo system, and in my car. Details in headphones. But for monitors the hs series is so flat. M-audio colors the sound and makes you think the midrange is too hot. Krk is good, but almost too good. Too much good color, or something.
  9. Haha, I was gonna reply with Faith No More- The Real Thing. Close second is Skinny Puppy- Bites.
  10. @brian trageskin- wouldn’t what @thawkinsis referring to here be considered an accidental? And still be something a classically trained person would do? Especially in jazz?
  11. There are some other things to consider when looking at what makes your music stale or sterile over time too, not just theory “kills creativity”- if anything really does. Idk of any of you ever watched this stupid old 311 vhs from back in the day. They are a band that I liked briefly in high school, and pretty quickly abandoned. But anyways- in the video they interview this old guy on the street and ask him if he listens to them. He says “I don’t listen to other people’s music, because I write music, and if you do that, you find there music in your music” or something like that. I don’t know if I agree with any of it, honestly. Most theory I know came from working with musicians that I needed to adapt to, or have them adapt to me. Also from learning bass and banjo, haha. My keyboard playing is all instinct tho, for the most part. I can’t really weigh in on the whole thing accurately because I try to keep this Isaac Asimov “grasping as a whole” or wholistic, gestalt view of art where nobody is wrong, blah blah blah..... That being said- in Mr Bungle: Patton doesn’t know shit, Dunn is all theory. Dunn is jealous of Patton for being able to do what he can, the way he can. I like Patton more at surface level. But Dunn maybe composes more stuff I like. The point is that probably the whole mess of it is what makes them great.
  12. Damn, that looks killer, I’m gonna track it down.
  13. https://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Trip-Hop-Test-Part-One/release/1266687 Wasn’t sure if anyone had posted about this, but it’s got an awesome Underworld track on it, where they go by Lemon Interrupt- Minneapolis. This is one of my favorite albums of all time.
  14. I think that some of painkiller, death ambient, and other various tzadik stuff is really close to what your getting at, @Thu Zaw, but with zorn stuff it’s eclectic and all over the place. I’m sure there’s some stuff in there you’d like tho, that’s along the lines of what you’re describing. It also doesn’t help that a lot of it isn’t easy to hear online.
  15. This is pretty awesome, maybe the best of the 4?
  16. So much John Zorn. I like when noise creates that ambient vibe. Like how skinny puppy too dark park is somehow this mess of lofi samples and horror, but somehow it’s all so aesthetically pleasing. A long time ago I was a process server/courier and I would just drive all day. Merzbow would really get me zoned out in this weird meditative way. It’s hard to articulate, but it’s always stuck with me.
  17. https://merzbow.bandcamp.com/album/tauromachine Wanted to revive this thread. I’ve been working on a noise project over the past couple months, and I have always really loved this album. Didn’t know if anyone posted it yet.
  18. My guess is a devilfish mod (or some type) 303, and 606 for the beginning drums. Oberheim for the weird pitched thing. Maybe
  19. Maybe more in the “whatever” category, but still good: Last Night a DJ Saved My Life: The History of the Disc Jockey https://www.amazon.com/dp/0802146104/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Q07JN3AMW1YT9C1GKHM6 Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, Revised and Expanded Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/1400033535/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YDFWC27J6S1VDNCQM1RZ Also - anything by David Toop- like rap attack or ocean of sound. Decent theory book (I went thru 10th edition, but I’m sure it’s the same): Basic Materials in Music Theory: A Programmed Approach (12th Edition) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0205654207/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_9VVETS8C0JX0X1NSFVRS
  20. That’s fucking awesome, I can’t believe I never saw this. It also makes me want to film shit at the conservatory here, and make a track for it.
