  1. I almost can't use the letter "H" on my laptop anymore. The keycap, keypad and retainer all broke off, and being the idiot that I am I just tried glueing the remains of the key to ground zero. I'm now scraping the glue out of there because the glue blocked any response so I almost was without my dear "H" letter. This post is mostly a test to see how well the "H" is now working. It seems alive, for now.
  2. THIS release is really tickling my ears atm, just got it with CN - NU amongst other WeMe releases (Radio-Logg, Bounds Green, Ceerial Port). I was even more amazed to see it's made by a 70 year old Belgian flutist? It sounds / looks really proto-vaporwave or something. Thanks to someone on here that tipped this album!
  3. http://forum.watmm.com/topic/84826-aphex-twin-melodies-from-mars/page-5#entry2227536 Hint?
  4. I really love it, it makes the whole thing even more relaxing for me. Plus, the first thing I listened on my new headphones (Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro) was NU, the first track actually made me wonder for a moment wether it was broken or not. Anyway, Radio-Logg / Nu have arrived in the mail just now, good times!
  5. MEGA-interview ultra detailed conversation MEGA extensive in-depth interview TOTALLY & UTTERLY SYROBONKERS!!!! Wow, Noyzelab, easy on the superlatives on your own article. I'm immediately getting sceptical here. Anyway, this could be good but I hope the interview is written better than this piece. Still have no idea what the connection Barclays - Aphex Twin is?
  6. I can only ask for one thing for the Colundi Sequence to be perfect, the first track in this set (the first 2 minutes). That one is in-fucking-credibly beautiful:
  7. Interesting, thanks for sharing this since I’ve never heard of such possibility. All I’ve heard is that Mu was interested of Steinvord. Seems that they chose the legendary status of Rephlex over the functionality of Mu, but how did it work out in the end. Well Venetian Snares knew better. Wasn’t Rephlex interested in Aaron or have I been severely trolled? See Herr Jan, not so far-fetched idea. Hehe, so it seems! Didn't knew about that tidbit :) I'd really wouldn't complain if it did come out Planet Mu, it's a great well-run label and it will get a proper release with them on multiple formats. Not sure about Rephlex and Aaron Funk, I don't think they were on it actually. They did pass on Boards Of Canada, if I'm correct Richard regretted that afterwards, Grant not so much :)
  8. Oh man... My maximum bid for that was 15 pounds. Just wait a year or so and these will be selling for nothing (like those Drukqs samplers)!
  9. It was 528USD WARP paid for the downloads (33 copies) - Richard mentioned in an interview he didn't realise that was included in the artwork and wasn't sure if that should be in there (considering it had nothing to do with SYRO). So, going by the USD/GBP exchange rate around April 10th, taking the total cost of the item and the per-unit cost given on the cover (and rounding off ever-so-slightly), that means the design was created based on projected sales of Syro of.. A quarter of a million copies, by the look of it. That also means that Warp paid exactly 5 quid for "Croissants for DAZED & CONFUSED listening" That's not an unreasonable price for croissants, I suppose. *Applauds* Nice work sir, seems legit. I was already hoping this would be figured out pretty quick!
  10. FINALLY a large package given to me by Postman Pat! ...not the Syro order!
  11. Cheers for the credit, though eh? You need a proper watermark for your work man
  12. Afaik he only talked about metal when he talked about how he made Come To Daddy: as a parody/pisstake of a death metal track. I do remember him saying he doesn't like guitar music that much, but then again, he did use Led Zeppelin drums :) no sources at hand too, so this is purely from memory!
  13. Haha, nah, that was apart of the Syro photoshoot together with those other photos. This one was also in the Oor interview. However it's funny the Norwegian chose this one as the front cover :)
  14. It's already more than a week ago, but I saw another one for this card on eBay. Buy now price: 200 quid, because he was sure it gave you privileges. Hope noone fell for that.
  15. If he won't release it himself (like Aleksi Perala or Jodey Kendrick) it'll come out on other good labels I'm sure. I'd say Planet Mu has become pretty different from Rephlex type stuff, I was thinking more about WeMe, Signals, etc. (the other labels in the braindance label thread basically :)). I'm mostly curious about the bandcamp page Monolith was trying to start up, must be publicised soon I hope! I was lucky enough to see Monolith live in Amsterdam at the last official Rephlex "tour" (a couple of dates in Europe in 2010 with Bogdan, EDMX, Monolith and Ceephax, in the UK with Vibert too I think), a lot of good videos of that gig are also on YT, and someone recorded the whole gig even! Some really good stuff in there too :)
  16. So Syro is mentioned in Grazia, a glossy fashion magazine from the UK apparently (tweeted by Mira Calix)
  17. You should've had a digital copy added to your bleep account on Saturday night/Sunday morning True, I immediately downloaded that! It's really not that big of a deal for me anyway (I really shouldn't complain, I already heard it at a listening session), but it does beg the question why anyone should still pre-order with large releases like these. In retrospect I'd rather support the record shops, even if that means paying a buck or so more, at least I get it asap. That sticker / card are handed out at the stores + listening sessions too though, and the minipops track was immediately on YT. But yeah, like you said, it rather get it at a store next time, knowing they have it first. I saw this popping by on facebook, someone got this at a store here:
  18. Haha, I meant to say I really like them, but I always associate lo-fi 80's post-punk / electronica / new-wave with black & white pictures with monday morning bleakness :) That Imagination 12" is something else though, nice indeed :)
  19. Those first few are some bleak tracks delet. Fits perfectly in the monday programming of Intergalactic FM (= what I am playing now) https://intergalacticfm.com/murdercapital_fm.php
  20. According to the British track & trace info my Syro's will be delivered today. According to the same company's track & trace code in the Netherlands, it's not even in the depot of DPD yet. Let's see who's right :) I paid extra bucks to have a better / faster shipping (Bleep offered three options, I chose the second best), so let's hope it was worth it. I hope I have the discipline to not preorder through Bleep ever again (not the first time I'm deciding this), when some shops in the Netherlands (RH, Clone) already sold it on friday, what is in it for the people that pre-ordered from the first minute that still don't have it?
  21. Verdict after the second listen (first one at the listening party, second at home with a good scotch): it's even better when nobody is shouting over the music. Bechuga described Syro perfectly saying it's like Aphex's Hello Everything, a perfect demonstration of what he does best. I claimed at first that the album felt like a cohesive one, but I must take that back - it's really obviously a collection of random tracks. I would have liked a bit more cohesion to give it a bit more of a personality, like all those interludes did on Drukqs for me. For example, I really, really liked with what the seventh track was going for, I would love to have a longer worked out version of that... Or more of those tracks throughout the album. Still, I am in no way disappointed and I think this album will be with me for a long time to come. Favourite tracks are still PAPAT4, Aisatsana, XMAS_EVET10 and Produk29 (Aphex doing Vibert, my two fave artists of all time basically, would more could I want?), with Manchester / Minehead right after that. Those other (for us completely new) tracks were still a bit too much for me (in a good way) and need a lot more listens :) Let's see what Syro brings us in the coming time :) P.S. - I am almost convinced Earth Portal Mix has an Ultrademon sample in it. Can't seem to unhear it.
  22. *nominating Kani for best new member award 2014*
  23. Got home from a party, sat down behind the pc, Syro download available immediately. Finally listening at home now :) Works for me here. It's the extensive cover artwork + gearlist basically.
  24. Booklet? It's just a .jpg of the album cover for me? And samples for Syro up on Bleep, if anyone cares about that :)
  25. Wicked, got a mail from Bleep with a tracking code saying it will be delivered on monday. There's no mail delivery on monday where I'm from, so let's see :)!
