  1. love when a mod on a music discussion forum has to be frogmarched to actually discuss music
  2. to me it looks like easily the worst PTA film. like an expensive excuse to induct PSH's kid into the hollywood rape factory
  3. Had the pleasure of seeing Benedetta today at an advance screening before it drops in December. There were some stuffy catholics protesting outside too, which of course everyone was taking pictures of, thus generating more press for the film. Maybe they were hired by IFC lol. Very, very entertaining picture. Definitely less satirical than previous verhoeven outings but this definitely served up some laughs and some steamy scenes between the two leading ladies. No major spoilers but let's just say a virgin mary statuette may or may not be put in places it should or shouldn't be put into. I suppose you could force a reading onto the film where Benedetta is Verhoeven himself, and the film is an examination of his career as he looks back now at the age of 83. A main character who steadfastly believes in themselves and their unusual visions so powerfully that their zealous self-belief brings pleasure and success but also strife and misery for others. I was expecting the film to skewer the church brutally, but it's actually much more nuanced. Efira is totally convincing and also very attractive clothed or nude - great performance. Charlotte Rampling was also excellent. Great cast in general. A few sort of clunky CGI moments that maybe exposed the limited budget, but nothing embarrassing. I think I still liked Elle better, but this one is totally engrossing and entertaining start to finish. Verhoeven is quite simply goated.
  4. kind of obsessed with their latest album Charmed. Curious what others make of it.
  5. shameless plug but here is a 9 hour playlist of my favorites through the Spectrum series:
  6. lol sometimes I’m reading a thread and a post makes me laugh and I realize I wrote it. Remember when noomi rapace gives birth to a freakish alien thing in Prometheus? that scene was really great
  7. why did i say this? i wasn't listening loud enough
  8. thinking about that hour-long electric people and crying tears of unrealized joy
  9. another great aril track from that era that was on an francois K compilation or something.
  10. literally the GOAT. I'm so sad. The original Norm Macdonald Live shows have carried me through a lot of depressed days and hangovers lol. I'll be spending the next 849 hours watching norm clips lol
  11. Have every moment and nuance of this wonderful album memorized. Superlative in every respect. Less is more. One small gripe is that it starts kind of slow— first few tracks are probably my least favorite. Fuknit is goated but there are so many other good ones. Happy memory: seeing moodymann in Helsinki and he ended his set with groove la chord. Fucking destroyed the place absolutely everyone going mental. He was drunk as shit and just fucking around in the booth but it didn’t matter because the track is 10/10. There’s something like 4 pieces of kit on this entire album. Insane. Take note gearslutz
  12. i too rewatched the matrix last week. it fucking rules honestly. there are a ton of great aesthetic moves the production design takes, but easily my favorite is that the "agents", the evil antagonists, are these cookie-cutter corporate suits. It sounds obvious now, but doing that in what is ostensibly a sci fi action film is hilarious, especially when they do the fighting themselves. edit: flol at the threesome story
  13. yeah there’s no way this is getting pressed to wax lmao
