  1. Oh btw I listened to it, not all that impressed honestly. A few really good tracks, but many were weak on the first listen. Not really regretting not buying it. Glad everyone is enjoying it though, just not me too much. Such is life!
  2. He's been running the long con. He set this site/forum up over a decade ago, all whilst starting rumors of this one obscure record. After everyone has invested years into the mythology of RDJ and all his misinformation Joyrex springs the trap: 'supposedly' this 'record' goes up on 'eBay' and then magically Joyrex gets in touch with him with the help of the ever-elusive Rephlex Records (is Grant even real?). JR then convinces all you fools to buy a digital copy of this vinyl (lol is dat even reel) without EVER HAVING HEARD OR SEEN THE VINYLZ. He raises thousands of dollars, even claiming some of it will go to charity (lol those r all scamz) and RDJ (less real than anyone else mentioned so far lolz) but then steals ALL THE MONIES and goes to Amsterdam to blow it on hookers and hash. Over a decade of work JR, but I seen thru ur plans. Didn't fool me no sir.
  3. Where is this Live at Stormy Waters track? Presuming it's okay to link to it... But yes, this live version of Kalpol Introl is sweet. The original is of course great, but damn this opens up that track in ways I wouldn't have imagined possible. That switch halfway through is just killer.

  5. Got the same feeling, though I'd bet on one or two minor offbeat gems on this record. Out of three songs that have surfaced, none do much for me. Muttley seems like a cool novelty throwback rave song, but something you'd move on from after listening to it two or three times. Reading Mike P's tracks descriptions did wet my appetite, but he is in many ways a hype-man and not to be trusted seriously. Aphex wasn't very strong with song structure in his early years, and I doubt anything on the CW LP has a level of originality and sophistication that would be worthy of our collective attention if it weren't for the absence of new released works from Richard. Hope I'm way off-track for those eagerly waiting their download vouchers. I see your point. I think it's an album for those of us who've been there since the 90's. Back then, what Aphex was doing, despite his lack of "song structure" as you say, went beyond what a song was supposed to be. More than original, it was revolutionary. It's impossible to see it that way in 2014. So I guess it's a very nostalgic pleasure we'll be getting from this unreleased album. A trip back in time. If you're not that excited, well, it's not an album for you! No big deal. I got into Aphex back with Come to Daddy, but had heard a little bit before then. I've got plenty of years invested in enjoying his music, I just don't worship him. Which leads me back to not spending $16 on a record (nay, a digital copy) that I've only heard a few (imo mostly weak) outtakes from. I hope the record is mind-blowing. But I'm not a fanboy for RDJ to the point of dropping that sort of money based on what little I've heard. Now if this had been for a lost Autechre album, I doubt I would've blinked to whip out my credit card and wang...
  6. Not at all - they bought 528USD worth of copies for everyone in the WARP office and thought this was an amazing idea/project! Please don't state things like that - MFM is NOT being mastered, nor is included with the CWLP download. Good grief. But yeah really StephenG, go look up some. It's classic Americana. There's probably a knock-off Canadian version called Little Maples or something, but go with the real thing. Am I the only one who didn't pay for a copy of the CW release? I'm honestly just quite worried I won't care much for the material (though I love the Polygon Window/SAW V1 era RDJ) and that the quality might be close to shit. Not that I'm worried they won't rip the vinyl right, but I'm worried that the songs themselves are bad quality as far as production goes. There won't be any options to purchase the digital after it's released, correct? I'm afraid to say you've made a grave error - there will be no further sales of the CWLP (other than the Ebay auction, which you're welcome to go after). Gah, so hard to keep. my. mouth. shut! *deep breath* Please be patient - not much longer - could be measured in 10's of hours at the most. Ah well. I'm a stingy bastard sometimes. It's been fun watching the whole thing unfold no matter!

    Now Reading

Jeff VanderMeer - Authority. Part 2 of three of the Southern Reach Trilogy. The first one, Annihilation, was pretty solid. Lots of strangeness, but more questions than answers. This one seems to be lining up to give some answers while still opening up the world somewhat. Good writing, great sci-fi weirdness.
  9. maybe Joyrex could reach out to them to see if they'd be into releasing the Quaristice or Overstep soundboard tour recordings based on a kickstarter goal that. is genius. I don't understand. What is this dancing cartoon thing. This is obviously my joyful dancing to the mere possibility that official soundboards could be released from AE. The gif is of a Peanuts character. All the fun has now been sucked out of this.

  12. I kept expecting the last 30 seconds to be him smashing everything with a sledgehammer.
  13. This is basically Alien 3, ya know. I'll never understand why people hate it, it's great. /mini-rant I love 3, I only ret conned it for the sake of convenience for the plot. Oh I see. Just used to seeing 3 bashed and my trigger finger jerked. Movie idea: Aliens vs. Predators vs. Godzilla

  16. WiFi: An affluent suburban home, in a residential area where 'Huge Mega Interwebz Company' is trying out new unheard-of technology whose origins and operations are kept highly secretive. They offer cheap but BLAZING fast internet to all in this small community as a trial of their new tech. Strange things start happening as we see the WiFi routers blink in synchronous patterns that slowly brainwash many family members. But it's not the big company that's brainwashing the residents, it's GHOSTS! Because the technology is actually black magic and summons the spiritual superhighway to allow such great internet access, the ghosts use it to take over and soon we've got The Exorcist/They Live/Lawnmower Man/The Matrix/(insert zombie film here) ALL ROLLED INTO ONE. Hijinks ensue, people die, Morgan Freeman plays the head of the evil tech giant, Latoya Jackson plays a resident unsusceptible to the ghostly brainwashing who leads a revolution against the spirit world, Rick Moranis plays the main ghost.
