well ... tnv, tim hecker, wax stag? but maybe not even those, lol. i have heard a few okay idm/experimental-ish records this year, but nothing spectacular.

[edit: maybe claro and basinski as well?]

i also liked the scorn and nommo ogo 12"s on rlr! plenty of good 12"s that i couldn't put in the albums list ...

ill check out the hecker, nothing of his has really grabbed me before but im willing to give the new one a try. never heard of tnv or wax stag, and it's about time i check out william basiknski as well.

I just checked out that Telepathe album, not bad! this type of music doesn't usually do it for me but i'm kind of into the production on it, it reminds me of quaristice.

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest

Mastodon - Crack the Skye

Those are both landmark albums for me. There's been a lot more to come out this year that I've liked a lot, but nothing else that I'd rave about. The new Sonic Youth was pretty good. There was a lot on Clark's new one that impressed me on first listen, and stuff that bugged me on second listen... actually everything that bugged me had to do with sounds getting squashed in a way that didn't sound like a deliberate effect, so anytime I can listen without getting distracted by that it will be a highly enjoyable album. Definitely tops his previous two for me. I expect Mew's new one to be a mind blower.

Oh yeah, and the new Bloodbath is pretty fucking good too. One of the best composed and arranged death metal albums I've heard.

the first 12" came out in like 2006, lol. there was one new track for the 2009 release ...

edit: i think it counts. people put the second basic channel comp in their year-end lists, right?

i think surprisingly 2009 has been a good year for music and films so far. I've seen two great movies in 2009, District 9 and Drag me to Hell and before the year is up we'll be getting a new Spike Jonez, Coen bros and Peter Jackson film. and a special treat for me the new m night shamalayn.
