Machinarium Soundtrack

I just finished this great little indie game called Machinarium, which is basically a pixel hunter type quest like Myst, set in a nicely painted cartoony steampunk/cute-ass robot universe. It's a short game, but it's a pretty magical 8 or so hours. The soundtrack is insanely good, too - most of it is really warm ambient in the vein of Eno, but there are some tracks that are pretty funky too. Check:

Dig?

I would be a happy man if I composed a few tracks this good and they appeared in some videogames.

Has anyone played this game?

Talking about videogame soundtracks, it came to my memory Half-Life 2 music, which is pretty impressive.

Yeah I've played this game. I think I got stuck though. I pirated it and didn't have the patched version and my game glitched. But yeah I too was amazed with the games music. It truly is something.

Yeah I'm so glad I bought the soundtrack with it. It's an amazing album. I really like that he changed the music to make it actually work as an album cos good soundtrack music rarely works very well by itself (after all, if it does it's job right, the visuals and the music should be inseperable).

there are a couple songs from the game that didn't make it onto the soundtrack. anyone know where to acquire these?

There was a bonus ep that I got in the package I bought/downloaded but it was a christmas special, I dunno if you normally get them seperately. As far as I can remember that has the only other tracks that weren't on the album (including the awesome Pipe Wrench Dubstep)

By the wall is pretty great. I would say "The Sea" and "Mr. Handagote" are the standouts overall. The Sea is super-lush.

I should just buy the vinyl

I remember that it literally blew my mind when I started playing the game. There were moments in which i simply did nothing but staring blankly at the screen. If is anyone left that did not listen to the soundtrack, I would recommend Clockwise Operetta and Mr. Handagote, two really immersive addictive tracks still in my 'heavy rotation' playlist.

I would also slay babies for a vinyl

ive been loving most of Jesper Kyd's work, but sometimes it veers into typical overblown cheesiness....i guess i love the undercurrent/ambient soundscape stuff.

theres an awesome track from red dead that i cant find anywhere...and its the one where you get into the Tall Trees area...muted steel drums...really creepy.
