SUPPORTING THE SHOW

A Duck in a Tree is something we do for free – we aren't paid by anyone to do it. We do it because we feel we are in a good position to enable a world of sound and music to be heard that doesn't get much exposure. There is a cost to us in doing this as we are charged a hosting fee by PodBean for the facility of storing and distributing the podcast version. You can support the show by donating towards the cost of this via the donation facility on the right hand side of our PodBean page.

no i haven't, i will seek it out though.

edit: checking it out now, this is pretty fucking awesome. Way better than the other Terry Riley i've heard. thanks for that!

it's interesting that stuff like this was being made in 1968, stands up very nicely to today's music.

fucking great, i think ZF were probably inspired by this part of his career and also some of Fred Frith's similar work.
IT's always cool to hear something from the 60s that sounds so modern. Now only if some synth masters from the time were doing arpeggios through massive delays like this, they would have made OPN's Rifts back in 1969

After some consideration, purchased, if there's any left. I could have gone to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs with money left over to buy some sweets for £30...!

I generally prefer to download music. :fear: You forced my hand.

Going from the samples I like its spacey pureness.

yes there are, about 10 now at the moment. Didn't see your order come through, checked my junk mail box just to make sure. When did you place it? Or if you are in the UK it would be a better idea to get it from Norman, is that where it was ordered?

Yeah, I was listening to the samples at Record Label Records and then ordered from Norman Records. It was the 'Please Note - Due to the limited-edition/specialist titles that we sell, some may not be available by the time we receive your order. This is rare, and we will contact you straightaway if it happens.' message on the order placement page that got me wondering, I've never bought anything from them before.

Got mine on Friday, and I've barely had a chance to dip my feet in(to the sulfur pool), but I'm already pretty astounded by the packaging and what I've heard. This is really something special.

I'm extremely happy that I got a box set while it's available. Can't wait to give all three discs my full attention.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01xz7kc

Mosca (dubstep?) musician sits in for Benji on a BBC radio 1 program and plays a track from Ambiente next to a Basinski track (im moving up guys, next album is going to be packaged in the ground up bones and dust from the WTC attacks no doubt about it)

also more continuous love from the :zoviet*France: boys

this is the 6th podcast of theirs i've been featured on
http://zovietfrance.podbean.com/

"some stones unturned"

and fyi we still have about 10 boxes left, they did not completely sell out on my end.

obvious homage is obvious. I've hesitated sending ZF the box as a gift after they played my tracks so many times because i don't want to come off as a complete fan boy, I probably should just go ahead and do it. It's not a 100% ripoff of Just an Illusion, maybe 90%

do it man. i think it's a nice homage, you should be proud of the whole thing and they obviously appreciate the music.

I do not wonder that your album get's featured that well- because it was crafted and sculpted with really magic hands and carefully balance in sound. I remember we talked about the process and since Ambiente is also some sort of collection through the last years, it works perfect as a album but as a compilation as well.

What really surprise me is the fact that all discs are linked well together, no sort of edge or break stylistically. It's a general problem using material from several years that people can hear the progress of the sound but Ambiente is just one solid monolith of a box.

I am very happy to be the owner of one of the boxes and I have it prominently standing on my shelf. It's a work you can really be proud of and I would not think a second about sending ZF a box of it. I am sure they know how to handle that ;)
