just listening to it today in the rain it really worked well for me. i'm not much in agreement about what they said about it being a summer road trip soundtrack i never really was but i was unsure about it in general. i mean i like it but i didn't understand it as a whole or something

juss sayin,it works way better in the fall.

i'd like to hear a boc album that is a real summer album. i think a lot of boc is fall, spring listening, a few winterish tracks. if there is one release that is the most summer to me it would iabpoitc. thoughts?

I always felt TCHeadphase was a Summer album - all the melodies reflect that, IMO. TCHighway as well. In contrast, IABPOITC is most certainly a fall/winter album, if not for Kid For Today alone. Geogaddi and MHTRTC have always seemed "seasonless" to me for the most part.

As much as I hate to categorise - it seems I unconsciously play albums based on a certain pattern associated with the weather and seasons - I'm sure many can relate to this.

Personally I would always find myself playing Geogaddi and TCFH during Summer - they have always seemed to be albums that I just want to play when it is hot and sunny.

On another note, Autumn and Winter tend to be my time for Autechre.

I don't get discussions on music and what season you associate with them. Pretty much everyone who listens to an album in a particular season, will then associate it with that season. For instance, The Campfire Headphase is a Spring album for me, because I listened to it then

HS - seasonless. blue.

MHTRTC - rainy mild winter. pale blue. wet.

IABPOITC - bleak mid winter. cold. white. snow.

Geo - autumn/winter, but also early summer (1969?). most of the album is autumn, tho, for me. red. brown. orange.

TCH - summer. green. yellow.

TCFH - summer. blue and green.

^ my thoughts/feeling/memories.

tch is a late summer album. one of those last hazy days on the beach.

changed my mind. it's actually a spring album. pale blue. yellow.

worst album/release of the lot.

The seasons/weather can effect the mood I'm in - which then determines which album I want to play from a given artist, therefore I would associate the season/weather pattern with the playing of that record. There are certain releases though that I unconsciously, exclusively play at given periods in a year. This isn't really hard to understand I don't think.

shut up sirch

it is, tho!

i do love the other 2. but most older BoC fans like myself (ie. people who were there at the beginning and didn't only jump on the BoC 'IDMz' bangwagon in the mid 2000's) would probably agree that TCFH is their weakest/worst/least enjoyable output, album-wise.

deal with it, bitch.

It's definitely more about the weather than the seasons.

BOC Maxima: Very early spring: When the snow first starts melting, and it's the first time you've had a temperature above 32F/0C for months.

MHTRC/Geogaddi: Varies from track to track. I listen to these indoors usually.

Hi Scores/ Some of Twoism: Cloudy, like the skies are a solid sheet of grey; appropriate for any season. Fantastic driving music (Especially Hi Scores and Turquoise Hexagon Sun).

TCH and TCH: Late spring through early autumn. I feel like the album goes through the course of a day. Morning to night. Pontiac Dream and Left Side Drive have a clear sunny day feeling.

Oh yea, IABPOITC is good for storms/twilight hours. Unique mood in comparison to the rest of BOC's stuff.

/fanboy rant. I've thought about this a lot though, and am happy to see a thread related to this.

I do not understand all of the Campfire Headphase hate. I have never been able to get into Twoism and MHTRC. I think those are weaker than any of the other albums, including BOC Maxima. MHTRC is more machine oriented and less nature-y. But I suppose you IDM nerds are into that sort of thing.

I am with murveman. It's all about the weather for me, certain weather patterns definatly spur on BoC (and Autechre just as much) listening.

I can't be bothered to list them but it's true!!

geogaddi is very wintery to me but I think it is because I played the crap out of it when it first came out and it was super snowy here. some of those tracks still have total memory burn and I find it hard to believe that was almost 10 years ago.

I agree with not understanding all the tch hate but I suppose it will go away when it's cooler to hate the new album.

I also agree with bread in that winter is the perfect time for ae. god, untilted and a blizzard are like pb&j for me.

hmmm. weird. if the new album's good/better than the last one then it won't be attacked/hated, obviously.

it's got nothing to do with what's "cool" or not. well at least for me it hasn't, anyway.

strange thing to say that, that it's cool to hate something...

weird.

TCFH is just not as good as MHTFTC or Geo, imho. that's basically all it comes down to!, imho. simple as that.

if it were better, then fine. it'd be better. but it's not. :)

maybe cool wasn't the right word but not liking the newest release isn't something new. see ae for example their newest release isn't as appreciated until the next one comes out. that's a fact. I'm just assuming that will be the case here too, I think tch won't sound as different with a new piece to realign perceptions.

dude. your hipster is showing way too much. ur all freakin about this 'cool' stuff. maybe you subconsciously wish to be cooler than you actually are so you diss on things that dont have phat hiphop beats and secret hidden meanings which is what your coolguy friends that showed you boc in the first place said was good.

jules is basically saying the exact thing that happens with watmm. with almost all the aritsts on here. for example ppl hating on quaristice when it comes out, all of a sudden they hate it omg its so disappointing wah wah wah. and the next album comes out and they give quaristice another listen and theyre like well thats actually pretty good and then they hate the new album. because thats whats cool.

basically this whole situation is malarky .and tch is the best album ever but some people are just too surface level to understand.

PS. im not trolling im telling the honest truth so dont give me a warning joyyrex for telling sirch how it is. thank you have a nice day.

PS: i respect your opinion that you like the previus albums better than tch. its your own opinion and thats all there is to it. but i will fight you in real life and we will see whose opinion is right.
