Suction Records
Oh, also - 1 more thing: I didn't read this whole thread but I read a few parts where there was some speculation that these tracks were made recently, and were trying to sound like vintage AFX/Rephlex. I can confirm that this is definitely not the case - all of Erik's tracks were recorded to cassette tape 1997-1999. He was making about a track a day during this time. When he sent me the digital files, it is clear that they were recorded to tape - the hiss is there. For anyone who speaks Dutch, there's a great interview with Erik here (I don't speak Dutch, but got the idea using Google translate):https://thump.vice.com/nl/article/de-nederlandse-slaapkamerproducer-rx-101-wordt-na-achttien-jaar-eindelijk-ontdekt cheers, Jason @ Suction Records http://www.suctionrecords.com http://suctionrecords.bandcamp.com http://facebook.com/suctionrecords

Diabrotikos
"101 Reasons" from the EP2 is actually a remake of an unreleased Aphex track : https://soundcloud.com/diabrotikos/aphex-twin-unreleased I don't buy that all these tracks were recorded in 1997-1999. Just admit it's an exercice in musical reverse engineering, it doesn't detract from the quality of the release.
Herr Jan
lol How did you even think that is an unreleased Aphex Twin track?

Just admit it's an exercice in musical reverse engineering, it doesn't detract from the quality of the release. There is no reverse engineering going on - Having listened closely to the premasters, and working with the mastering engineer to clean them up, there is no doubt in my mind that these tracks were recorded to cassette, and sound 100% authentic to the era and the gear that Erik has described to me. All you need to do is talk to Erik a bit and you will quickly realize that he is not trying to invent some fake story for hype... this music is absolutely vintage '90s material. Diabrotikos
I believe you, sorry for being skeptical, but we've all seen those kind of stunt before. I'm just impressed Erik made such good tracks similar to the early Aphex sound, and resisted the urge to release them until now.

Suction Records
Okey, so what is the story here? first of Erik released like 30-40 tracks on soundcloud then he take em back because he signed a contract? Now he have released one EP? Is the tracks from the soundcloud dump or is it new ones? From the Soundcloud dump. There was a lot more than 40 though and they are nearly all superb. Here's the story: I (the guy who runs the label who is releasing Erik's RX-101 material) came onto this forum during the excitement of the AFX Soundcloud dump, and I found the thread with people talking about Soundcloud pages that they thought maybe were "secret" undiscovered AFX accounts. I was amazed by the quantity of amazing tracks on Erik's page and I immediately thought that I need to contact him to ask if we could do some releases on Suction, so I did, and we've been working on it ever since. I asked him to take down the tracks on his Soundcloud page because I would rather that the tracks don't continue to be streamed and discovered before we do the RX-101 releases. EP1 (out now), EP2 and Like Yesterday (both coming Nov14) are just the beginning of many releases that we plan to release by RX-101. It's an INCREDIBLE archive of material! BTW, maybe I remember it wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Erik had over 100 tracks on Soundcloud before I asked him to take them down. So, the music we are releasing are coming from a lot of the Soundcloud stuff, but ALSO - Erik has since sent me a lot of additional material. A LOT! And the amazing thing is, some of the best tracks were never even uploaded to Soundcloud. For example, check out "August '97" from EP2. Isn't this track amazing? This is an example of a track that he sent to me later that wasn't part of the Soundcloud stuff. Another 1 is "Gemini Launcher"... there is a lot more too. http://soundcloud.com/suction-records/rx-101-ep-2-suction034 cheers, Jason @ Suction Records

Erik
I think you're right, but they were not on SC for a long time. And only as streaming audio. I can't remember exactly when it was. This may also be the case with some other tracks. Anyway, finally they will be available soon. Forever!

Suction Records
Pretty sure I've heard August 97 before? Well, I downloaded all of the tracks on Erik's Soundcloud at the time. I believe it was around 100 tracks (?)... "August '97" wasn't included in the Soundcloud batch I had, but I heard it later when Erik sent me about 50 more tracks. Maybe "August '97" was uploaded at 1 time then you took it down, Erik? Anyway, incredible track!
