Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Recommended Posts

I saw a politico article today saying that Biden admin executive branch (probably Secretary of State and members of national security council, the article did not name names) have been quietly advising Israel to go ahead with attacking/invading Lebanon these past few weeks. Also saw a axios article saying that second round of ballistic middles from Iran today are on their way toward Israel.

I cannot see any information at all about who in America is making the decisions about this stuff. I doubt Biden even knows what is happening, much less does he have any power or wherewithal to stop it. Loads of US military assets and lots of personnel now in that area, mobilized there these last few weeks. Very concerning to me. We are sleepwalking into a broad conflict that has no strategic aims or value, no discernible intent except more war, it is like they are just improvising and doing so poorly. What a disaster.

we've been here before but shit is outta hand. israel should've been reigned in so long ago but election year makes everyone scared to do stuff because aipac.. etc..  and i guess it's USA policy to let israel do whatever it wants. fucking rogue state at this point.

If one of their missile hits a populated area in Saudi Arabia, as they are firing into Yemen, the shit might really hit the fan.

^wouldnt put it past Netanyahu & his supporters to have allowed the iron dome to have ‘failed’ for some missles, just so they can use that as more martyrdom excuse.

not saying that’s what happened at all, just at this point, it’s clear the Netanyahu regime is not against allowing Israeli casualties if it serves their greater purpose.

yeesh. more than one person/group saying that the death toll is more likely around 250,000 in gaza. expected to be around 300,000 by end of year. the city is flattened so i'm guessing those buildings are all graves. but the reports of officially burying 8000 people in one day are shocking.

French president Macron is calling to halt weapons shipments to Israel: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2024/10/05/macron-urges-halt-to-arms-deliveries-to-israel-for-use-in-gaza_6728282_4.html#

Quote

French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, October 5, urged a halt to arms deliveries to Israel, which has been criticized over the conduct of its retaliatory operation in Gaza.

"I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza," Macron told broadcaster France Inter. "France is not delivering any," he added during the interview recorded early this week.

I also saw a report that defense minister in israel Noav Gallant said that 8 idf soldiers were killed in a battle in Lebanon this weekend. I have been trying to follow news reporting on the lebanon invasion and bombing campaigns but there is very little detail in the news reports I have been coming across. Some people are saying that if the idf was doing well there, that we would be hearing all about it, so the silence from mainstream journalism might mean that they are not doing too well there. I remember reading that hezbollah had approximately 40,000 fighters in Lebanon, which is like double the size of hamas at the outset of this war, and also that hezbollah has more sophisticated weaponry than hamas.
