According to Fact Magazine, "The official sales notes say the album brings together “CD player demonstration test signals, 24 bit digitally recorded improvised freeform analog pedal/electronic nO!se, direct to HD computer generated and recorded nO!se, flashbacks from the 1980s of 303 and 909 nO!se assaults including free-style repeat and reverse editing, a frog call editing experiment, finishing off the second disc is a unedited long-form radio de-tuning session!”

These dudes' understated, catchy tunes always have high replay value for me. Here is a decent review from RA: Resident Advisor. Need to pick this one up asap.

Known about this band for a long time but never got hooked. I saw them live at Reading when the bloke took a shit in a bag and chucked it at us. Which I sort of thought was a bit 'stoopid'. So walked off and got another beer. However this new album which is coming via youtube shitty speakers sounds fucking amazing and on first listen (aren't they supposedly the Autechre of guitar music? LoL). Any love round here for them? This new album sounds immense. Ltd Edition 180gram vinyls are going fast, one heading my way soon I think.

the guys have begun releasing recording of live shows from '94-97, some pretty cool and unreleased stuff in there. the prices fluctuate based on the length of the performance, so that's kinda wonky. their site has been overloaded recently, so if you purchase it may take several hours to get your download link.

Casino Versus Japan - Casino Versus Japan 1 2
by Guest Valued Customer- 35 replies
- 4.1k views
Artwork by: ISO50 [Tycho] After nearly 6 years of relative quiet, one of IDM's most highly regarded producers, Casino Versus Japan, has broken the silence with a re-issue of his classic self-titled debut on Moodgadget. An intoxicating collection of 22 tracks that harken back to the early days of IDM, and derive from the core of what makes Kentucky-based Wisconsin-native Erik Kowalski's music so unique and appealing. Filled with stylistic variety, and spanning vast expanses of sonic landscape, Casino Versus Japan unfolds with inviting blankets of ambient warmth, crystalline reflections, and powerful resonant drum sequences. From that point forward, the listener is lock…

Araya - Whilst We Try
by Guest Bourbon Surf- 1 reply

Lush new EP from Araya and potentially the last release from Benbecula records. "Whilst We Try" sees highlander Keir MacCulloch return to the shores of Benbecula for a second outing. This trip proves to be a much more focused and dancefloor-friendly affair. From the lush guitar-laden opener "Sergio Leone", to the orchestral synth fusion of "Duty Paid", the EP merges organic melodies with super slick production. With great response from homeland and European crowds, the EP proves to be ideal for both headphones and the club. Track Listing 01 Sergio Leone 02 Briskan 03 My Arp is Stuck (Live at Abbeymount) 04 Duty Paid 05 Out Bleep Get CD from …

Now/Again has been on roll, both with reissues and new signings... http://www.nowagainrecords.com/announcing-paul-white/ http://nowagainrecords.com/up/AncientTreasure.mp3 An inventive showcase of what’s possible when armed with just a sampler, a few studio toys and a fertile imagination, Paul White & The Purple Brain is the intriguing sophomore album from South London producer Paul White – his first for Now-Again. This album will see release in early June. A collaboration of sorts, the entire record is based around and inspired by the work of little-known Swedish psych-rock guru S.T. Mikael. Heavy on Eastern influences and otherworldly concerns, Mikae…

Mux Mool - Skulltaste
by Guest Valued Customer- 9 replies
- 1.3k views
“I think beat-making is really the study of every kind of music,” says Brian Lindgren, the artist known as Mux Mool, “Anyone who makes beats should be experimenting in other genres.” On Skulltaste, Lindgren’s full-length debut on Ghostly International, the producer was determined to explore every corner of his beat-steeped psyche, and the resulting document is a masterpiece of eclectic cohesion: chunky instrumental hip-hop sits next to new-wave anthems and dubby dancefloor bangers, which abut skittery slices of D’nB and made-up video-game soundtracks. Skulltaste may cover a lot of ground, but Mux Mool pulls it off. He even makes it look easy. Skulltaste is an old-fash…

Baxter (Official Site) (first single is streamable there) Baxter Tell Me Like It Is Forgive Them Fire Ain't Ice Where Did Your Fire Go I Want It All Please Let Me Be Tell Me Like It Is Some Place Else I Keep Reminding Myself Compassion (Will Preserve It All) Doesn't Make Anyone Free We Will Find Peace I love their debut 14 years ago and, through blind luck, manage to obtain and enjoy their sophomore effort. The first single is OK, but I like the message. Here's hoping they'll provide a few snippets to the other tracks as they inch closer to release. Also, looks like they dropped Maverick/Warner Bros. altogether and decided release it themse…

No idea how I missed this, but Mr. Projectile (Merck, Toytronic) has a new album out on his own Semisexual imprint (though it's digital-only). Seems slightly sparser and more electro than Sinking so far (currently streaming it on Bandcamp). Mr. Projectile - To The West

I'm not sure when this is dropping yet, but it's due within the next few months. I'm a big fan of Stafraenn's sound, and Gummi was one of my favourites of 2007. He's got one track from the new album, Emmer Green, streaming on his myspace page: Click me!

Tom Cary - Grace of the pure hearts
by Guest calculon- 0 replies
Tom Cary are Pablo Garrido (a.k.a. Naïfloop), Francisco Verdugo and Javier Muñoz. Their first work "That’s right! Clean your soul" - produced by Steve Albini -, together with an excellent life performance have allowed them to get a lot of prizes and to perform at important festivals all around the world. Far from the mainstream, they’ve been able to manage their work in a truly independent way. In Rock al Parque Festival (Bogota, Colombia) the band was defined with the curious label “freecore”. Sound, performance, songs and free style. A band free from the ties of what it is established in the more and more foreseeable society of information and the jungle of tendenci…
