  1. I don’t think you’re using chuffed right It's an antonym I don't think you're using antonym right.
  2. yeah, I just sweated half a small, very finely chopped, onion in a pan with a clove of garlic, added two tins of san marzano tomatoes, pinch of chilli flakes, salt, pepper, oregano. cooked for 30 mins.
  3. been slacking on the homemade pizza front of late, rectified that tonight:
  4. Dansak isn't supposed to use pineapple, they're traditionally made with gourds (pumpkins or the like), presumably they couldn't find any one day in a British Indian restaurant so they substituted a tinned pineapple instead, it works though. Adds a nice sweetness, but with a hint of sour as well.

  6. I had a few hits off a small grass joint last night, and was the same. my tolerance is so low now (only smoke a handful of times a year), was fucked for hours afterwards. was eating some hazelnut chocolate and was convinced the hazelnuts were actually tinfoil.

  10. just made a lush thai beef salad, was the first time I made it with fillet, not sure if I can go back to regular steak with that again now.
  11. if we're not a top side, why did you need the park the bus tactics against us (as usual)? small club mentality right there.
  12. What about the mushroom drive though? What would you give it on a dumbness scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most dumb)? I really can't get past that, it's such a terrible idea.
  13. That doesn't make any sense, we have the same centre halves as we had last season, the same problems leaking seemingly easily preventable goals, yet we still finished in the top four, what's stopping us doing the same again exactly? We improved the overall squad strength in the summer (so we should have no problem handling the extra CL games), our full-back situation is very good now with a fit Gomez and Moreno playing much better (as I correctly predicted last season), and we still have Clyne to come back and TAA is looking good (if not quite ready for the big games), Salah was a great signing (relieves the pressure we had on Mané), Chamberlain is a good squad player to have as well (if a bit expensive for such a role, but that's what the market is now I guess). Solanke looks like a very promising singing, we still have Lallana to come back, and Ings is there too, so we have lots of strength in depth all over the squad. All we really need is a top quality starting centre back to play beside Matip, I wouldn't even be in a big rush to replace Mignolet, he might have been at fault for one of the goals yesterday, but it was his only mistake of the season, he's been in fine form since he came back into the team last season. If we could get someone better next summer we should go for it, but no point in taking a risk on someone who might be better, or some young up and comer. Have our rivals improved things so much in their own squads that my view seems completely implausible? Obviously not, Chelsea don't look anywhere near as good for some reason (Morata was a good replacement for Costa, but they look quite shaky at the back (leaking goals at home), Alonso - one of the league's best players last season, looks out of sorts in particular, was a big part of their attack last season). Arsenal didn't do much at all, and still seem as inconsistent. United had a good start to the season, but they also had the easiest run of fixtures of any side in last season's top-6, and now that they've been put under a bit of pressure and have just a couple of injuries, they look quite ropey, also Lukaku doesn't seem to have improved since Everton, can turn it on against the lesser sides, goes missing against the better teams (especially with Mourinho's negative tactics leaving him isolated), they're more likely to finish top four this season than last, but it's not nailed on. There was a mad stat in the game yesterday, we have the 2nd best home defensive record, only conceded 1 goal, United have conceded none; but the worst away defensive record in the league with 15 conceded. The good thing with such an obvious problem is that it should be a lot easier to fix, it would be hard for us do much worse. Our home record under Klopp is great since he arrived, away it's been very up and down, but we have had periods of better results, if we can get a proper defender in there in January hopefully we can finally get some consistency, if we'd had that from the start of the season we'd be challenging for the title, without it we still have a good chance of top four.
  14. Summer window wasn't a shambles at all, we did well in all positions except centre back. We'll try again for VVD in a few months, he'll hand in another transfer request, if they don't budge this time we really need to look elsewhere though. We're still in a decent position in the league re finishing in the top 4, looks to me like City and Spurs are pretty well set, Chelsea should be too, but something's not right behind the scenes there (were very lucky to get anything against Watford), so two spots up for play between Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal (outside chance given their EL distractions) and United (who's failure to beat the top sides will be their undoing this season I think). We've only had one season in the CL since Rafa left, and it was an awful showing, I'd be more than happy with an improved display there (which it has been so far) and top four again this season (FA cup would be a nice bonus).
  15. I agree it's pretty terrible, but so is Discovery, and at least it manages to get what Star Trek was about (it's basically TNG fan fiction). This show is far too like the JJ Abrams movies, which also completely fail to get what makes good science fiction (which is good ideas, this show has none). You'd have thought Bryan Fuller would know better, having working on DSN and Voyager, Kurtzman's involvement probably hasn't helped though.
  16. everyone seems to be creaming themselves over that Spurs performance, but I don't think they were actually that good, Liverpool were just shocking defensively, we handed it to them. Spurs were pretty good at the back though at least, because we controlled the game and created some good chances, two great saves from Loris; but the talk that they're going to compete with City now is a bit premature to put it mildly, City look nailed on walk away with the league now. We'll certainly claw back those three points in the return game as well.
  17. No, in fact Seth MacFarlane's new show is better, and that's not very good either, and is supposed to be a comedy (it's not very funny though). The acting and visuals and so forth are decent enough, the characters are all mostly far too stupid to have attained their ranks, and the writing and characterisations in general are pretty shit. My biggest gripe with it is the incredibly dumb mushroom warp drive and it's ridiculous navigator, in general it's very poor on the science end of things, Star Trek was never exactly hard-SF, but it at least made an effort to come up with reasonable sounding jargon and vaguely plausible technologies.
  18. Mindhunter is pretty good yeah, I even liked the first episode (bar one or two clunky scenes in Quantico at the start). really dumb name for a show though, sounds like the name of a show by the Garth Marenghi guys (it's about a private eye who solves crimes with his telekinetic/telepathic powers). I hope the plot gets a bit more exciting though, just a lot of talking so far. The co-ed killer actor is great though.
  19. just ate too many pulled pork tacos. were great.

    Now Reading

Mitchell does try and very obviously inhabit the genres he takes on, each section of the book is very different though, it's not all like that coming of age story at the start. I recently read his following book, Slade House, short little thing set in the same world as Bone Clocks. A series of spooky tales set in a mysterious stately home. Enjoyable read, but nothing amazing.
