    saw a story about VA elections and it was focusing on white suburban moms who are upset about distance learning and school not being open last year. one woman saying all her trump hating friends were voting for the republican because... reasons? it's typical shit really. in biden's infrastructure deals go thru and he loses. you can bet whatever republican is elected will take credit for any good news. edit: also, worth mentioning that in VA the DNC passed over two good, strong candidates because they're black women and they didn't think putting a black woman atop the ticket would work.. even though it generally improves turnout. democrats didn't do anything right.. again. they had a lazy campaign with uncreative strategies etc and it's all just bullshit. also people are giving up on the democrats because they just don't deliver results when they do get elected. they make promises and then don't deliver. this isn't new but people are sick of the pandering and giving up on electoral politics and don't show up.

    oh wow. i didn't think they put those tanks inside people's homes. the old heating system here was oil fired. the tank was outside in the ground. the local DEQ (dept. of environmental quality) required a certified contractor to decommission it when i put in a new furnace.. they send an inspector and all that. def do research about how to cut into it. there may be a way to use a drill w/a big hole cutter on it that won't throw sparks. or you could get that sand that is designed for cleaning up oil spills from leaky cars etc. and put a bag full of it in there to absorb the oil. then maybe you can use a shop vac to vacuum it out. regardless.. get a fire extinguisher! worth mentioning that if you cut a big hole in it it might let out some stinky oil smell.

    saw that one too and had a wtf is this shit reaction. obviously this is all targeted at opportunists and tech savy people. older people generally have no clue about any of this. there are handfuls of tech savy people in every age group.. even boomers. but many have no clue and barely understand the office computers they've used for 30 years or whatever. so, this all will really start to smell like a grift. it'll be like how in the 90s the major labels made billions selling CDs of albums that people already owned. the banks will preserve their power and take over or co-opt any new system and skim their profits in the form of fees etc to a new generation. "Crypto-Credit Cards" are probably only so far off.

    so, the corporations and on line gambling are getting into crypto pretty big. fucking commercials during sporting events pushing the various on line gambling platforms heavily with celebrity endorsements and linking them to crypto. for better or worse, you can bet like anything else that corporations will co-opt a big part of it to market it to mainstreamers and simplify it for consumption and syphon off a buck via fees etc.

    first sign of demonic possession is driving in the bike lane. fucking demons run amok. . parts of portland look like this video btw. probably not such large parts but many camps, underpasses etc. city plays whack-a-mole cleaning them out once the carcasses of stolen cars become a problem.. or fires happen or propane tanks explode, or most alarmingly.. the camps spread off the curb into the bikelane. srsly tho.. r/portland sometimes reads like the diary of Deteective Somerset from the movie "Se7en" and other times there's lot's of nice pics of dogs and fall leaves. it's weird shit and mostly doesn't fit w/typical experience of living in portland. edit: anyone going out into the forest tomorrow night? see ya there! listen to goats

    look around for a store that a pays a living wage and has better benefits.. it's likely that store is better staffed. local grocery stores here are well staffed... so far. but have seen lot's of hiring signs at other places.. convenience stores, fast food places. portland is kind of a bubble in a lot of ways though.
