  1. nice read (the interview part) as always, thanks!! oooh so one of the tracks is a bladelores jam from 2011, mysterious :P That's almost certainly "all end", right? Yes. (/ending of splesh)
  2. Ooh yeah, never having been much of a fan of em never felt so good :)
  3. Checking out their album Anareta now. Great style, very much the oldskool late 80s/early 90s style of death metal, I like it! I'm really starting to warm to the somewhat less "precise" early death metal style vocals, as opposed to the Corpsegrinder style that I had become accustomed to (which I still love, tbh). "Precise" death metal vokills? Warming up to Season of mist artists? Say no moar: Meet Archspire. This singer dude is so ridiculously precise he pretty much perfectly accentuates every single 16th note snare hit with a grunt. ... And that's lots, lots of snare hits. Like he must be fucking reciting "War and peace" every verse. Pretty amazing / stupid. Musically it's your typical über the top techy scale metal. ___ *Unsavory alert* On other news Abigor went back to necro (somewhat) this year resulting in probably their best album since the 90s: Still very "busy". The contrast of high level instrumentation and atmospheric production reminds me a bit of Ordo ad Chao by Mayhem. Also cool: There's a Karaoke version: https://luzifer.bandcamp.com/album/h-llenzwang-instrumental-version-2018

    elseq 1-5

Linky Get on it people, let's make this happen no thanks. ____ still undecided if NTS </> elseq overall, hm... kind of an uneven comparison anyway.
  6. oversteppy track is oversteppy. really nice!
  7. the production also deserves a special mention, pretty fucking top (because not over it). just checking support acts... maggot heart seems pretty cool, never heard of her... the voivod influence seems quite obvious in parts! but nope, we get bio-cancer, another über-picturesque retro thrash band, meh. also come to think of it: why are support acts even called support acts when in general they're the ones being supported by going on tour with a more popular band? weird.
  8. yeah man, it's beautifully psychedelic, especially the solo and outro. it feels like chewy is more and more finding his own style within the band while still being respectful to the legacy. psyched for the tour in october, tickets are on the way :)
  9. *feedback* MULT - NATIONAL - CORPO - RATIONS - ...
  10. yeah that's what i'm talking about... this one is pretty great imo: ... ah right, this is also pretty fucking terrible but i can't resist them refrains:
  11. k, this gonna hurt: not like i actually own any of that shit but when it's on the radio / telly i wouldn't zap. could have gone with shitloads of 70s / 80s nostalgia / AOR / new romance crap, but that's nothing to feel guilty about in my book.
  12. i like (and love parts of) exai but pretty much everything they did after even better. i reckon it makes for a great introductory album tho.
  13. spaces unfolding, absolute top tier ae. easily one of the best tracks on the best elseq volume. wuv1³
  14. Nice. Did you play it in VR or regular? regular on steam. VR must be well trippy tho :O
  15. wohoo just finished S ranking thumper, man that game was a blast! most unfortunate ya can't select substages tho... con: no excuse to procrastinate ikaruga chapter 3 anymore o_O'
  16. qft. deliciously wet, that last one!
  17. i usually like track by track reviews, this features some weird, apparently random highlighting, tho... like no l3 ctrl and four of seven for session 1 and no violvoic for session 2? srsly? gtfo! edit: it's ok.
  18. yyyeah i'm kinda torn about this whole NWOTHM thing. on one hand strictly musically speaking this shit is right up my old dusty alley. one could say it's downright tailored to appease my old school headbanger needs... but that exactly is also the problem: it's mere emulation, aping the 75~85 decade meticulously right down to superficialities like dress code, album covers etc. ... frankly it's all just a tad too picturesque to not insult the intellect. also if those bands of old would have followed similar modi operandi and merely duplicated elvis n shit we would have never gotten heavy metal in the first place... anyway that being said some of those new bands are quite concvincing indeed. i had never heard or read about barrow white but it sure is a nice blend with some excellent riffage and deliciously sloppy drumming. not much a fan of tongue in cheeck LOTR lyrics but hey whatevs. another band in a similar vein i can't get enough of these days is WYTCH HAZEL who only recently released their debut album: while also somewhat anachronistic they really walk the walk. owing alot to dinosaur rockers wishbone ash, thin lizzy (yummy dual guitar leads galore!) and a bit tull they flawlessly simplify / condense shit in best NWOBHM manner into cuddly as well as catchy song formats. lyrically it's very obviously white light, putting off alot of people which i find kinda hilarious really. if neccessary just fade out the explicit heavenly terms and you're left with hymn after hymn about battles, spiritual survival and (daily) struggle... all good! edit: and that voice... <3 oops they did it again: still retro as fuk but somehow they yet again manage to avoid any sense of contrivedness or force, every bit as good as the first one imo. on a completely different note i've been getting into cognizant feat. bryan "human drum machine" fajardo of gridlink / noisear fame. sounds a bit like more compact ulcerate, pretty cool. this recent split with bad rites (who i never heard of before, but they kick major ass on this, too) really does it today:
  19. pretty much exactly this, just change "weeks" with "months". still one of the best releases ever in terms of content as well as the way it was released itself. never forget aepril_oneeight <3
  20. yeah, being the compulsive completionist fucktard i am i had to get all the achievements and to save time beat the fucker on hard without dying, which just meant laming it out by resetting to the latest save point as soon as a death animations started... it was tedious to say the least. but hell, what a beautiful game. read lotsa complains about backtracking but that wasn't a problem in my book whatsoever, i felt the overall pacing was spot on. rly the only complaint whatsoever would be the cartoonishly drawn commercials all around the place, those felt kinda off stylistically.
