Polyend Tracker - Sonic LAB Presentation with Bogdan Raczynski
acid1 replied to pizza's topic in EKT General Discussion
This is basically how I feel. It takes up about the same space a laptop. it requires power. It requires speakers/headphones. It likely requires a desk/chair. Might as well use a laptop instead?- 45 replies

NFTs for music / auction music to the highest bidder via crypto tech
acid1 replied to auxien's topic in Music Discussion
I'm disappointed in the mining process by only the means that it feels like lazy pointless engineering to me. I am more impressed with the way cardano solved it via ouroboros. I wish there was a coin we could hook up to Folding@home and use crypto to actually solve cancer or covid19.- 517 replies

For whatever reason I've been thinking about how the first day/week/month of running bitcoin must have been like. The first 50 BTC mined from the genesis block went to an invalid wallet. So how were the first bitcoins obtained to be given to the people? It's my understanding that mining is the process of block rewards for hashing blocks full of transactions with a certain number of zero's prefixed based on the current difficulty. The first bitcoin blocks seem to only have one "coinbase" transaction each to a seemingly unique address. Does this mean Satoshi was running multiple instances of bitcoin on multiple machines? Can you configure bitcoin to generate new private keys for you each time you solve a block? Did he do this on purpose to look like a "group"?

I still think Go Plastic was the ultimate "breakcore" record. Granted, I'm not sure where "drill n bass" ends and "breakcore" begins.

Nice listen but I was kinda wishing they were gonna go full turbo nerd on some bass music.

One does not just "Get Started Making Music" At the very least we need to wait for masterclass videos on how to use each piece of gear.

I think I remember one time I saw some Kanye doing an interview and he was bragging that he can see music. What he did was draw an MPC hovering above of a lake. Does anyone have that clip or did I imagine it?- 531 replies

Wondering how people are enjoying their Trackers. I'm constantly on the fence about ordering one, but will probably eventually get one of every tracker on the planet. Can you adjust playback direction/speed per slice of a sliced sample? One of my favorite things to do is dedicate some slices to normal playback and others to ping pong/reversed/time stretched. Does the lack of synths onboard bother anyone? I've created synths out of samples plenty of times in Renoise but eventually I get to a point where I want more traditional sounds and alternate ways of achieving them. How is the file management system? I feel like having that massive jog wheel would help a lot in navigating sample folders. The thing that bugs me the most about it is I don't really see how "portable" it really is. It doesn't have batteries or speakers so you basically need to plug this into power and some speaker where ever you go. It also seems rather large in demo videos. I don't even know where I'd put it in my currently cramped studio. I hope I'm wrong about all of this.

DAMMNN. I missed out big time!

I love all trackers. I wonder how much that m8 gonna cost. Any way you can PM me the price range?

Thats the unfortunate state of things, I simply do not have time to self promote. I'm also out of the loop of what record labels out there exist that put out this kind of music. I wouldn't turn down an opportunity if it were offered to me. Thanks for the kind words @Grain Bastard!

LOL thanks :not_sure_if_serious: Pretty sure I'd need a label/album before that and the only people that know my music exists are in this thread.

Thanks! Every time I approach drums in a song its a little different to keep things interesting. I will say I usually stick to trackers of some sort like Renoise, Redux, and Nerdseq. I enjoy layering drum loops ontop of eachother and then cut them up to give them a more manic and noisy feel. Sometimes its best to just generate a bunch of drums by any means necessary then "fix"/rearrange in your daw. Unrelated to Papa John but this is a new one
