  1. Just got the prints from the labs, they look super sharp. It's a stunning release, don't sleep on it !
  2. It’s now out, and I’m convinced many fellow WATMMers will love that one. I sure do !
  3. No deep-learning in Bill’s stuff. Super clever algorithms at work though, and « curated » with fantastic taste. I love FieldsOS but I have a soft spot for Fluidity.
  4. Which MBP did you go for ? I plan to get a 14" M1 Max (the less expensive 14") and hope it'll be able to run sessions with L11, soon M4L and 5 to 10 instances of softsynths like Bazille, Hive, soon (hopefully) Zebra 3 at 96k... with processing. Mostly monophonic instances, otherwise with low polyphony and alway large buffer. Basically I cross-finger it'll be able to run the sessions my i9 9900k desktop can.
  5. OUT NOW via http://threeop.bandcamp.com, in high-res digital files and limited USB archives Preview : ENG Othello Aubern are French electronic musicians Clovis Lemée and Thomas Pujols. You might already know their sensational respective solo work as Horla and Nebulo : OA is an anagram of both their monikers by the way. The title of the album was generated using the same process, though the original words remain unknown. The 8 tracker was made swapping MIDI and audio files between France and Taïwan over the course of two month-long sessions, using an array of software and hardware bits. [/facts]. Pace Serpente came as a total surprise for us : we first contacted Thomas to release with us, who quickly sent us half of the current LP. Elliott and I were instantly floored by what we heard : sublime sharpness and immediate intricacies, a brilliantly paradox-bending body of work. Months passed, and we finally received the mixdowns of the eight pieces. To put it simply, the whole was even better : every second of Pace Serpente makes the rest more impactful and memorable. I'm not exactly sure of the original intent of the artists, so please keep in mind that what I'm typing is highly subjective here : Pace Serpente feels like the finest, most noble and crucial pop music of the year 4000. Don't get me wrong, the timbres are meticulously refined and overall sound-design and production are lazer-precise : masterful work in that regard. The melodies and grooves make this LP unique : you'll compulsively whistle the countless goosebumps inducing killer hooks Pace Serpente offers. It's a concise album that begs to be listened to on repeat : it'll reveal endless finesse every time you dive in. Transcendent, captivating, perfect record. n. Transcendant, captivant, parfait. n. Written, produced and mixed by Clovis Lemée and Thomas Pujols, 2021 / 2022, between Taiwan and France Mastering by Nil Hartman Artwork by Clovis Lemée
  6. Devs ? Fantastic mini-series IMO. Fargo’s great btw.
  7. Tidal is also a fantastic compositional "studio" tool. Its extremely terse langage and syntax are its highlights, and its ability to divide a cycle into the most complex, composite grid are also super inspiring. You can control anything that can receive either MIDI or OSC with it. Using Atom or any other external text editor is quite a minor downside IMO. Now, having it perfectly sync'd with other apps is a whole different story... I still dream of having Tidal-inspired commands directly inside Live. SC is immensely powerful, no question about that, more immediate in its installation and, obviously, more autonomous / self-contained... but its code is so much more verbose. Not the same appeal.
  8. It is. Charlie's working on an updated M4L device for Gibber, that can be pretty awesome once installed. Because of this thread, I've reinstalled Tidal, but using https://github.com/fracnesco/HackYourDaw instead of SuperCollider. Still need to reinstall Carabiner for proper sync. I forgot how Tidal is fast to operate...
  9. Reason can do a surprising lot with all its CV/Gate sources and destinations, Matrices and CV Splitter / Mergers. And I bet it has evolved significantly since I last used it (Reason 4, 10 years ago).
  10. Lately I've been trying to transplant my algo / generative thinking from Tidal Cycles / my Architect WIP of a sequencer to Live... and a lot can be done with its native stuff already. Not everything, obviously, but still. I came to 2 conclusions : - you can compose algorhtymically without a line of code or any Max/PD patch. Instead of writing the line of code, you can write according to the pattern you try to encapsulate in your algorhitm. An algo is faster to execute, but it might be significantly more time consuming to write a musically satisfaying one. - timeline sucks, big time. But eh, I already knew that ^^ As far as Liver is concerned, the Session mode should be the only mode available. You can do a lot with Follow Actions, by splitting patterns across multiple sub-MIDI tracks, using chance and MIDI FX, dummy clips... Ps: I've been testing https://github.com/carrierdown/mutateful and talking with its dev about current / future version(s) : super nice stuff to come with all sorts of intersting rhytmic patterns, even melodies. I did an experiment this morning using it, and within a few iterations had a quite nice riff going, with strange grooves I wouldn't have found otherwise.
  11. I agree and disagree. Somehow it was tangible it was the Covid season. Maybe it'll turn out to be something like The Wire's s02 : boring on first vision but pretty great and narratively useful in the context of the whole series ?
  12. OUT NOW ! 24bit digital and USB Archive. Preview : 0F.digital is Rob Curulli, a musician and creative technologist from Melbourne, Australia. He has been releasing music under various pseudonyms and band names (most notably: Modex, Pselodux, Rooftop Access, and Italianz) for over twenty years, in many different genres. 3OP is proud to unveil his latest work. isometry cleverly guides the listener through different sonic territories: like distant planets, each abandoned by a long-extinct sentient culture, knowledge of which we can only derive from ancient artifacts and alien inscriptions. Yet deeper archaeology reveals common threads of relation. While we're tempted to describe each track meticulously (we always are), and how we've responded emotionally to these, we prefer to talk about the album as whole. What keeps on striking us is how fiercely varied and intense isometry is. Blissful violence, serene lushness and refined rawness abound. isometry is fueled with euphoria, sonic assault and intricate melodic work. It's a brilliantly paradoxical body of work, telescoping conflicting energies in a masterfully controlled and meaningful way. The experience is massive. The walls of sound are sublime. .n & -E Written and produced by Rob Curulli Mastering by Nil Hartman Picture by Andrew Bates Artwork by Rob Curulli Ps : MASSIVE and delicate LP, all at once. Killer.
  13. Thank you so much guys for the very kinds words !
  14. Pretty sure we'll get a Lyon gig sooner or later
  15. Source's highlights are immense... but as an album it's yet to meet my initial expectations. I like that new one a lot.
  16. I hope you guys won't mind the bump : I can't find the thread about my EP [~], which has been mentionned a few times in that very topic. It was released a year ago now and, as a thank you and a closure (for me), I'm giving away 100 redeem codes to grab it for free. So here they are : Please note that I have no clue which are still working (can't access this info).
  17. Yes, on 3OP. @eczemand I run it together, and I master all our releases.
