Guest Adjective Posted July 12, 2009 Share Posted July 12, 2009 some harsh aliasing in lower bitrate mp3s will certainly be less comfortable to listen to at moderate-high volume. but there's just some confusion... there have been articles that point out the practice of listening to personal music players (mp3 players) at higher volumes than the user may realize and danger it poses to one's hearing. so when these headlines hit the word of mouth train it turns from "mp3 players may damage you hearing" to "i heard mp3s damage your hearing, have you heard about that? i skimmed an article on it today -hey, do you like animal collective?" Yeah, vsnares pretty consistently makes me lose a bit of hearing anytime I listen to him through headphones. I always get that high pitched ringing in one ear that indicates the last time I'm ear going to hear said frequency after listening. No more vsnares for me.
