renoise question
by Guest Shining Rock- 0 replies

so I have a question for Renoise savvy folk, i'm used to the ability in Reason to record midi paramaters via knob on my usb keyboard. now I know how to assign a knob to a function in Renoise, that much is simple, but how might I go about recording myself manipulating a parameter? Is there a way?

fuck fuck fuck, i live in the skunk cum drunken soaked rag of the world, (apart from Africa) this steaming wax hole has nothing avaliable to buy. last i recall was a 909 for $1500. all i use is ableton fooinhg live, with moog arturia vsts. i bought a microkorg, but its sounds like ableton sounds...plasticy shit. anythign i see on ebay is double cause i'm stuck in the isolationist society called perth. all i desire is some hardware shit, so that i can at least try to make electroic music away from vsts, computers and shit. though using ableton as sequencer would be cool. so for the last mothablunking time, anyone from these pits want to show me the light to hardware goodne…

a while ago, someone here posted a zip file with a load of breaks in it. there was one called USA.wav which is quite short, one bar, sounds synthesised, and really familiar. and i was in a club last night and saw a-skillz and he played this random track with this break slowed down over the top and it sounded sick. so i was wondering if any of you have got a clue? or should i try and post the break? sample attached...

At the moment I feel like I've everything I need to basically make tunes. I can't buy imagination but perhaps that'll be in the shops one day. But yeah I got a pro sound card, decent pc, keyboard, controller, abletron, vsts, rubbish mixer and a mic. Anything else worth getting as I keep getting harassed about my birthday and I don't really have any material needs as such. Cheers.

Like the ones used in Activ8, Rave the Rythym, Anastasia, and countless others? Like this? Yeah, I know some of them sampled it, but was [is] there a hardware synth with a patch of it? The Juno-G has some, but...I mean...$1000, jeez.

VST Recording Delay
by Guest TI-86- 5 replies
I've been using the tutorials in "Ableton: Live 6" to figure out how to record MIDI; however I've met a problem that I can't seem to figure out using their site or manual. Basically, when I record a VST plug-in, the sound is very delayed. Every note is delayed about half a second. This makes Ableton Live basically impossible for me to use in the way I was hoping. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I will ask for advice here I will post info here Tips and Tricks I am purchasing a server style case, possibly rackmount or something like this I will purchase one item at a time, leaving the CPU and monitor until last (these items are most likely to drop in price with time) The build process will be spread over 2-3 months.

I've been told that I am to arrange some visuals live for a rather big afterparty in the beginning of august, and I've never had to do anything live. I've just made them on my computer, burned them onto a DVD and handed it over to whoever might be in charge of it. So my question is: Is there a program where I can switch between visuals whenever I want to? For instance if at one point the music slows down or there's a break I want my visuals to follow that, so I could switch visuals... just like in Traktor or Ableton but with videos instead. Anyone got any ideas? Pretty please with sugar on the top

the rules are: - only 1 device producing the sound (synth, bass guitar, oscillator...) - EQ is allowed - no outboard effects allowed, if the synth has effect onboard it's okay to use it. let me start: midibox SID (8580) + EQ Click here to watch filthy-bass-1 (yousendit) just two channels of an ancient parametric EQ cross-fed back to themselves Click here to watch filthy-bass-2 (yousendit) juno 106 (with onboard chorus) Click here to watch filthy-bass-3 (yousendit) if i have the time i'll make polysix and poly-800 (moogslayer) lines too :)

anyone help a guy with pro tools?
by Guest Mr Salads- 2 replies

I have Pro Tools 6.4 with the mbox. It isnt compatible with my version of Tiger, 10.4. The only way to fix it is to upgrade to 7.3 which they will charge me $75 for since I didnt buy my version on or after November of 2006. I was really looking forward to working on it...for the record here is my error: "digidesign hardware is in use by another application (-1133)". I googled it and haven't found free patches that I thought would be available on digidesign's site. Of course they want you to shell up more money for something you already spent hundreds of dollars to get.

Question about "Ableton Live"
by Guest TI-86- 6 replies
I currently don't have a MIDI/USB keyboard for using with "Live", however I heard that It's possible to use your "Computer Keyboard" to play notes within the program. I have the "Keyboard" looking button in the top right of the screen selected, however I can't seem to play anything with my computer keyboard. It seems to recognize when I push a key down but I'm not sure how to get it to play plug-in instruments. Does anybody know how to do this?

I have an Oldworld mac G3 (yes the famous beige tower) sitting beside me, is there any good software (either using OS9 or I can stick Linux/NetBSD on it) that I can stick on it? Because otherrwise it will just get stuck with server duty and it is capapble of more than that.

Switching to Mac
by Guest TI-86- 5 replies

I'm going to be heading off to college soon, and I may need to buy a "Macbook" for digiral art classes. Though I've done all my music on a Windows desktop in the past, I'm considering making the jump to using Mac's exclusivly for everything audio/visual. I've heard lots of people say that Mac's are better for working with digital art and music. What are you're guys opinions on Mac's vs. PC's when it comes to this kind of thing? Also, the big problem with going Mac for me is that most of my VST indstruments are for windows. Is there any way to run Windows VST's on a Mac?
