Hello, I was surfing the net and found these neat little programs that sequence and create sounds in interesting ways, and the good part is that they are free. I've searched the forums and I don't think these have been posted. IXI Software Programs

Hello and Help

Love all the artists on here but when it comes to equipment and actually making electronic music I am a bit of a dope so don't laugh if I ask stupid questions. 1) An average Synth would cost how much? 2) ' Drum Machine '? 3) Do any of you know of a Trance musican named The Field? I would love it if someone could tell me what equipment he uses. If not what is the average set up for Trance? 4) What's the best sequencer for Electronic music?

venetian snares imitation

if anyone wants to make science-breakbeat-gabber-or-whatever-they-call-it style beats like venetian snares, i found a way to do it: get shit loads of percussion samples or random squarewave samples or whatever, trim them all to the same length, put them all in winamp, play them all on repeating shuffle, record it. sounds absolutely amazing/shite

Ive been writing with normal sequencers(what is normal?) for years, and allways checked out trackers-but never really wanted to put time into learning one when i have logic wired. Trackers seem to come up alot when im reading studio interviews with artist that write wicked music in my opinion- (machinedrum, proswell autechre, afx come to mind. Seems they all have used them ,or do use them at the present time. Im not saying there is any magic bullet to nice tunes,we all know by now that time pays off in that aspect. But would there be an advantage to programing polyrithmic patterns and melodys that you normally would not have with a daw like logic ,cubase etc? …

i had this free SID/C64 vsti synth emulation but i deleted it & now i can't find it on the internet. it looked old school, a bit like milkytracker. well, anything else would be appreciated. i want to add some weird kinda 8-bit percussion to a track i've been working on. thanks in advance.

So basically this is the deal, last time I pretty much got a bit more cash then got a Microkorg. I'm getting an SH-101 as a present now instead of having to buy it so I have this spare cash. I think I might randomly look around Vintage Synth Explorer and Ebay but what do you think is the best idea. I liked the sound of the Yamaha CSX2, no idea if it's complete bullshit but I loved the strings sound it had on it... looked on Ebay and it seemed within the price range.

Logic Pro 8
by Guest esquimaw- 20 replies

Apple have just announced Logic Pro 8 - included in the new 'Logic Studio' bundle.. Looks like they've really improved the audio editing and a few other tweaks - nothing drastic, but all good stuff. AND NO DONGLE. Best part is, upgrade from Logic Pro/Platinum 5/6 is $199! I lost my 6 Pro dongle a while ago, and haven't been bothered to fork out for an upgrade to 7 - this might sway me though. Wonder what the UK price will be? And will they have my details on record seeing as I first became a customer when it was Emagic? Time will tell.. Of course a load of people will winge about 'no new plugins' blah blah. This is not important to me anyway.

Parametric Equalizer

Anyone who likes fiddling with parametric equalizer- how do you get the most out of it? I find it hard to get a balance between the high and low tones without having everything distinigrate into reverb madness. Usually makes such nice little bell sounds though.

The title pretty much speaks for itself... The soundcard in my new laptop is HORRIFIC! Anything below 200hz sounds like crap, so I was planning on buying some sort of PCMCIA soundcard and basically I'm interested in knowing if the X-FI Xtreme soundcard is worth it, because I've been offered to buy at a fair price.

I've been considering picking up a Roland mc808 for a while now, as i wanted to start writing my own material and wanted some equipment besides my laptop which i spend all day on anyway. I was askin a chap i know about this the other night, he's quite in to his techno djing, and he turned around and said not to get one, that they're stupid pieces of fisher price shit and that i'd regret getting one......I find this pretty hard to believe as every single person i have talked to before him has said they are fantastic and that i'll really enjoy them, and everything i have read on the net says they are great. This lad is a bit of opinionated prick anyway so I wouldn't hold mu…

TR707 and Vintage Roland Drum Machine Users.. Please Helpski...

Hi, bought a Tr-707 off ebay the other day, wicked condition, plugged an adaptor into the back and everything comes on apart from the LCD screen, which is absurdly faint and can only be visible in a certain light while squinting at it... The other pattern lights come on, and it responds to me pressing the contols. can get sound out of it perfectly, it's just the faint-as-fuck screen... Any chance I could have fucked the thing with too high a voltage beforehand, or is it likely to be a different issue? Do I need a proper roland adaptor or what? Have tried a few different adaptors now and the same thing happens each time.. I dunno if it's perhaps the adaptor tip…
