Oh its me kids, I have a CBX-T3 and I'm proud. It sounds like music for pajama sam or something and I love it. Its a sampler synth obviously, but still has a warm analogue sound. I don't see many old sample-based synths mentioned here much, is it a kind of area of SYNTHESIS overlooked by all TB-303 lovers?

Too much bass
by Guest meneedit- 13 replies

I'd like to discuss something with all of you. What are your methods for solving too much bass -more specifically, when there is a kick drum at the same time as the bassline? I like to slightly side-chain the bassline to the to the kick drum but the only problem is that if the bassline has a high range, you are side-chaining the high end as well as the low end. ...This is why I thought I would turn to you guys. Is there a better way?

Ok, so I need at least 4x4 (but I am considering an 8x8... save myself the trouble of getting a new interface as my studio grows) any recommendations? MOTU? M-Audio? Others? thanks!

It pains me to say it, but it looks amazing. I say it pains me... because they announced it like 2-3 years ago, and left everyone hanging... and there was a lot of shit with the updates of version 1.... so I said Id never get version 2... but damn it looks hot. The interface is amazing! Mannn. Ill definitely be waiting to see how it holds up by user reviews though. Check out the plethora of intro videos at www.motu.com

I'm looking for someone to make a midi file for the main riff in CJ Bolland's The Prophet. I want to do a remix of it but I can't one anywhere and I'm having no luck doing it myself. Here be a sample. Release Info.

*sigh*... I hate myself for asking for these samples, but a friend and I are working on something where we need all the nasty samples we can get. What we're working on are grindcore versions of old Danish children's songs. So that's why I need some really nasty, punchy, and deep samples. Pretty please (: Much love, Squee

So I hear there's a free program called "Refill Unpacker" or somthing like that. Apparently, it retrieves samples from Reason Refills to use with other programs or whatever. At any rate, I can't find it ANYWHERE on the web or slsk. I don't know how to do the whole torrent thing so it MAY be up there. I put a bunch of my OWN samples into refills (yes I still have those samples unpacked but they are on MY computer qho's monitor doesn't turn on. I'm going to have to get the hard-drive taken out or whatever) and want to use them in Renoise (what i'm using now). SO, does anyone have this or know where I can get it? I wouldn't ask but my computer is down and I can…

I have been without a working computer for like 6 months at my place, its fucking hell! Back in late June I was at my parent's and used their computer to make some tracks in reason. With really shitty speakers. I'm checking them out now at a better computer and they turned out pretty decent audio-wise, despite the lack of any bass at all and horrible mid-end I had when I made them, I compensated for the bass alot and it sounds pretty ace on better speakers. i myself don't own a pair of tt's but some day in the near future i can see myself with a setup. are the mk2's the ones to get or mk 5's? the only reason i would go the turntable route is well, i collect vinyl i love it, but i definatley see the benefits of a system like traktor. i've played around with tt's though, my friend owns a pair, i've mostly just scratch and done silly things, never attempted to beat match... i've heard they are a lot of fun to get blazed and then just mix mix mix yer favorite rekkids. i bet. yes. they seem to be a pretty intense investment though but one that keeps on giving. any good stories....? feedback what other mediums do y…

Sytrus in Ableton Live 6
by Guest TI-86- 5 replies
- 4.3k views
I've been re-organizing all my plug-in synths/effects for use in "ableton live 6" however I've come across a problem that I can't seem to figure out. About a year ago I bought a VSTI synth called "Sytrus" made by Image Line (the fruityloops people). I tried to add it to my collection in "live" however for some reason ableton won't read the folder or file. Since Live runs "VSTI" files fine, I'm not sure why it's not reading sytrus. I've done this with many other plug-ins and they have all been fine in Live. Dose anybody know how I can fix this problem?

RAM

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my G4 Powerbook to 2 gigs worth, up from my current 1 gig. I'm wondering; what things should I be looking for when shopping for RAM? Perhaps you could suggest some decent types that would be worth buying.

Midi Dump
by Guest LJG- 8 replies
- 1.2k views
Can anyone advise me regarding midi data dump? If I understand correctly, one can dump midi data into a software program to store info- tracks, settings, sounds, etc that could then be restored to a synth or other device via midi. If that is the case, what would I need to make my synth talk to my computer, what program would I need, etc. I presume there's something out there like a midi to usb hub or the equivalent. The hunt for smartmedia cards is getting a bit bleak. Truly, I wish these Korg would use something more common like the average camera memory card and whatnot... Would there be any inherent advantage to using smartmedia over some other means? :undeci…

realtime music-makin' software for my piece-of-shit PC?
by Guest earlGREEN- 6 replies
I've got my shit ol' 300mHz with fuck all RAM plugged into my stereo running Rebirth, it runs really smoothly and I can fuck round with its twin synths and twin drum machines in realtime while jammin' round on my six-string which is also plugged into the stereo (sold my amp years ago, through my stereo it sounds remarkably good though - it helps that there's an "echo" (i.e. variable delay - ranging from subtle reverb to BA-ba-ba echo) and input level (which I've been using to create a surprisingly tolerable overdrive/distortion effect) on the mic input). Extraordinarily good fun. Any recommendations for other software synths etc. that I can run and tweak in realtime throu…

Djing with ipods/mp3 players or cds
by Guest The Bro- 14 replies

Been thinking recently that I'm not too keen on lumping around a laptop anymore. One because of the weight and secondly and more importantly because of the cost of it and the risk of getting it stolen in a club. I know someone recently who had his knicked and it got me to thinking that I don't know if its wise carrying £600 worth of equipment around in a dark club these days. Am I only the one that thinks for all the great benefits that come from Ableton live and using a laptop that actually just having a few cds in a bag seems like far less hassle than lumping an expensive laptop to one location or another? Anyways my point was that perhaps ipod/mp3/cdj players are…

my 707 has no midi. would it be worth my time to get it fixed ? i want to be able to trigger it. i was thinking of selling it cheap and then buying another one used but that just sounds silly thinking about it. What should i do? tricky,,,, it probably costs quite alot to get it fixt, but even if it costs 100 or a little less it would probably be worth my time ... how much you figure ???

Kay, so a friend is giving me her laptop, and I am gladly accepting. It's a Dell Inspiron 8200. (2.0GHz-M Intel Pentium 4, how's that, any good?) I recently bought a M-Audio keyboard. It's the O2. Basically, my plans for the computer is a 2GB RAM upgrade. Also, looking for a good firewire sound card, need some suggestions.

Hello, i want to make a video project that is at a specific tempo. Im trying to use Vegas video right now and i distinctly remember being able to edit video clips right on beat to the 16th note or 8th note with quantizing. Now i cannot figure out how to do this at all, it seems that it forces me to snap in 5 frame increments, making on beat video editing nearly impossible. Does anybody know a better program or technique for working with very fine timings and synchronization with video editing? Ideally id like to be able to move video clips to a quantized 16th, 8th note, or 32nd note grid.

Fruity Loops-like sampler running in browser window
by Guest cqueberel- 7 replies

http://neuroscientific.net/leetbeat/ It should be pretty self-explaining for most people here. I guess it could be described as a mixture of Fruity Loops and YouTube, so it will certainly accumulate a lot of crappy content very fast. Obviously it still has some problems with timing (e.g. the tempo fluctuates a bit). Note that you can also use external mp3s, e.g. from free sample libraries (click on 'edit' to change samples). You can also 'remix' any track you are listening to and save the result as a new track. I guess the readers of WATMM are aware of the lol potential. This is at a very early stage, and the tracks that are uploaded at the moment do not ta…
