song meanings
by Guest dryryzer- 7 replies

hi, i have set up a new song meanings website, and was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to lend a hand to drop a few comments on the site to get the ball rolling... Just looking to get peoples views on what they think is behind the BOC song titles and what they think inspired a BOC tune, or the meanings behind a BOC tune... Essentially what a tune means to you, anyway..if you interested heres the link BOC at musicexplained would be cool to see what you think cheers

i won't link to it so as to keep the n00bs out, but there was speculation that the pre-Twoism releases have not been re-released due to legal issues arising from other band members being a part of BOC at the time. in response to that, hex_official posted:

A serious thread 1 2 3 4
by Guest Dogboy73- 82 replies
- 19.2k views
Okay I know it's a bit much to ask on this forum these days ........ but how about a serious thread on BoC's music analysing their musical structure to see what those incredible melodies we all love are made off & how the sounds they use contribute to this structure. It would make a refreshing change to the usual 'I've got an old undiscovered BoC track down my knickers' & 'I have it on good authority a new album is due' bullshit! How about it?

Robert Anton Wilson (RIP) documentary

Saw a posthumous DVD documentary on RAW last week ... an interesting pop-philosophy dude that wrote some fnord novels and was editor for Playboy for a bit. Simultaneously described himself as a Christian, Buddhist, Discordian, etc. - though I'm not sure whether he means it seriously or likes to fuck with people. (Does anyone really take Discordianism seriously!?) There was lots of BOC's music in it. To be honest, it came across as really tacky with RAW speaking his mind on e.g. the relationship of self to world, with cheap "psychedelic" digital visual effects and BOC's music meandering along. Decent film though, but I don't really recommend it for a tripping film; a lot …

Boards of Canada the effect of LSD
by Guest dryryzer- 4 replies
- 1.6k views
Just wondering how much people think LSD has influenced boards of canadas music. They say themselves that songs like nlogax are designed to start dysfunctioning near the end to resemble the nature of hallucinogens, and they have also made albums called acid memories etc etc What do you think?

Syd Barrett's First Trip Video
by Guest roygbiv- 8 replies
- 1.6k views
Not strictly BOC but I thought it would be of interest to the Boc fans. The video is atmospheric footage of ex-pink floyd member Syd Barret's first hallucinogenic trip. Is it old-fashioned to still want this kind of mood from Boc's music? Music is beautiful.

Grooves interview
by Guest Moebius- 1 reply
- 1.5k views
In another "everything old is new again", I spotted an interview from Grooves magazine around the Geogaddi era that has not, to my knowledge, previously been noticed. The odd thing is that it's not exactly an original interview; rather, it's a "collage" (in the author's words) of the band's statements from other interviews. But it's still interesting, because two of those interviews are ones not seen before. Anyway, here's the link: http://www.solesides.com/winblad/boards%20...cgrooves08.html Strange that I missed it, I've long known about solesides, they have copies of many of the old BoC interviews. I've added it to the BoCWiki Interviews page, althou…

BOC subforum custom skin request
by Guest No Pomo- 3 replies

I think the background should be a tacky tile of the brothers, and then it randomly plays a random fake BoC track every time you view a page in the BoC Subforum, and it has javascript on top were like snowflakes go across the screen, it would make this place bearable.

my gf interpreted the last paragraph as the the duo not working together anymore, or perhaps not at the same time anyway. would someone like to make some kind of verification of this. because the way ive received this info, they are rather taking a break from making music, or have split up. ...and b4 u ask, my gf is nihon-jin.

I don't think anyone cares, i recall posting something like this before and a bunch of BOCommies tried to verbally destroy me. Anyway, a sample in "The Way You Show" is used in "Smokes Quantity (MHTRTC Version)" Based on that, and other kilotons of similarities, isn't it kind of proven by now that A Few Old Tunes is a genuine BOC album-thing. __ |V| \_/ Anti-Verbal-Destruction Shield :D lol

Was the Music Has The Right To Children picture taken there?
by Guest Enter a new display name- 23 replies

I read on Bocwiki that the cover picture was taken in Banff Springs, Alberta, Canada. Well I checked a couple historical pics and I've found this. Here's the link that leads to the pic. The bricks look older on MHTRTC so there might have a few differences between the wall in both pictures. Any thoughts?

Since this forum stirs up more controversy than the others (so far, and don't think I don't have my eye on you, µ-Ziq Subforum Members), Skytree suggested some general guidelines to go by to prevent some of the shlock being posted here (intentionally or not): Please check BoCPages.org if you have any basic questions about BoC releases, individual tracks, etc. If you're relatively new to the band, chances are, your question has already been answered. Feel free though to ask questions if you've perhaps though of something nobody else has or noticed something new. BoC loves to hide clues for their fans, as we all know. Any users caught intentionally posting fraudulent mat…
