yeah i'm not sure if i notice the difference. i'm not oppressed by the masses.

divide by 0, yes @dingformung sorry i just realized this maybe made sense. i didn't get it and thought you were joking. in terms of driving the soundcard, i don't know. in terms of 50% volume not being lossy, i think no, it is. if a sample value is odd then it would get rounded. even in an environment where bit depth is floating point, there is rounding.

wasn't sure if the mutant strain was a media thing or what. zeynep is someone to take seriously https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2020/12/virus-mutation-catastrophe/617531/ one thing that made covid-19 not too bad was that it didn't spread super easily. without preventative measures employed, it seemed that the average infected person spread it to 2 to 3 other people. increasing that basic reproduction number by 50% (or more), we have a basic reproduction number around 4. reproduction number of 1 is linear, anything above 1 is exponential. the difference between 2 to 3 and 3 to 4.5 is significant. for the america crowd:

Now That Trump's President... (not any more!)
may be rude replied to Nebraska's topic in General Banter
amazing swaths of the population are being herded like morons by manipulators. some of the manipulators are foreign enemies of the state. some are domestic self-seekers in media and government who gain power and money by their participation in the collective deception movement. the media used to shephard public thought. flawed as it may have been, mainstream media, before the internet, filtered out some portion of thought contagions. this head has been cut off, and individuals, lacking fact-checking mechanisms common within journalism, are exposed to a hostile environment. a rapid evolution of bad actors exploiting the vulnerabilities and developing systems by which to streamline and reinforce this manipulation has taken place. it's not that hard to defeat bad arguments. social influence follows exponential curves. we just need to engage in debate.- 22,233 replies

kind of yeah but only because i'm trying to pace myself and not wear out the new releases, and 16-18 is great listening material as a substitute 16-18 grows nicely. sam and froto in their workshop jamming in a long, contemplative freeform, with sharp tools and texture technology. a unique work and a gem.

yeah even murdoch is turning back from the brink. his ny post did a front page op-ed calling flynn seditious, trump's lawyer crazy, and telling trump to stop fucking around and concede. fearing trump is not worth attaching one's name to him. trump will maintain some fund-raising ability and influence, but those may wane dramatically and quickly.

we will happen to pull through the situation, this time, even if 100+ members object. it's damaging, though, and indicative of the underlying ill information health of the country, and the seriousness of this kind of a threat. i guess you could say it sets the stage for other bad things, but we will handle the fools in a mature way.

i think this is true: if you put the volume on your music player application at 100%, and control the volume with your system volume, only, you spare a lossy amplitude calculation. further, if you also set the system volume to 100%, and control volume only from the speaker/stereo, you spare another lossy amplitude calculation.

reality is not post-truth. it's possible to learn the skills of assessing logical support and recognizing actual journalism. it may take decades but this is the inevitable adaptation. let's try to avoid events. just engage in arguments.- 22,233 replies

Now That Trump's President... (not any more!)

i say we're about to see a spectacular downfall. look at it this way. let's say, hypthetically, the information environment had undergone a rapid evolution, and this was misused by deceivers, and large swaths of the population were living under illusions. and this created a need for a correction. the natural mechanisms of adaptaton would come into play. individuals would engage and inform each-other of their logical errors, to help them become more in touch with reality. this could be prompted by the situation coming to a head, with an exceptionally egregious set of liars and lies. in such a scenario, the event would be so powerful that it would become a symbol. it would allow the correction to be complete. those who participated in the fraud would find themselves obliterated.- 22,233 replies

apparently pence has the opportunity to toss democracy on jan 6 if he wants? sweet i guess i should start sounding the nonviolence signal again, just in case. i think trump is also amplifying a rally of crazies in dc on that day. let's remember who put us in this position. senators are up once every 6 years. we have 2 years to work on rubio, who is up in 2022, etc. the arguments stacked up with which to wake people up to coordinated political deception are clear and easy.- 22,233 replies

there's another roleplay album out. jazz funk rock fusion? guitar, slap bass, drums, organ, vocals, synths. lol. it's good! https://edmsoundwave.bandcamp.com/album/the-panther cool that he is exhibiting his dynamic compositional skills, like with his alternate soundtrack to an 80s crime movie. film producers would do well to pick him for a score.
