  1. You're most definitely right about premeditating not being helpful and it does get easier and you sort of make peace with the mess or whatever. Good luck with the psych, I do feel that the older I get and the more psychs I've seen the more potential there is to benefit from each cycle (or whatever one might name it). Cheers man, it's really good to get a heartfelt response when throwing something into the void like that. Sorry if getting too sappy here. Through what I've gleaned through your watmm persona you really seem like a stand-up dude, I could never sustain myself let alone thrive somewhat in the working environment you're in. I've worked in AV for 6 years or so in my twenties and it was ok but it was on land and being able to work with a greater diversity of peeps and seeing like-minded people in my free time made all the difference. Keep that sociopath flag flying high!
  2. The amount of verbal padding I feel I need to be able to start a conversation with anyone about how I feel about anything is fucking ridiculous and I’ve just realised this has to be my problem and not, as I’d sort of assumed up til now, someone else’s. A few years shy from 40, psychotherapy since kindergarten and yet here’s another fucking mundane but major goddamn obstacle. I’m so sick of this shit. I’m a gracelessly failing pasty sack of bones and meat without a trace of tenderness or humour, pretending to be a person. Tldr; melodramatic man-baby time.

  4. I'll refrain from commenting on making open source tantamount to genocide. But one thing that might be a deterrent to big companies copying the deluge besides the kind of niche market and very involved hardware side of it is the fact that any additions or changes to the code have to be made open source as well. So commercial parties can't just pick and mix or make a proprietary version without publishing their work.
  5. Sounds like you're on your way to hemorrhoidsville.
  6. Anecdotal observation indicates religious people are more tolerant of bright light than heathens. Muslims seem to generally be well into fluorescent lighting or icecold leds and I just looked up at a house with slightly warmer but bright light; huge wooden cross on the wall. That’s it. That’s the theory.
  7. Totally missed this on its initial release but ableton put up a package called Building Max Devices containing lessons to help teach people how to build max for live devices, also comes with 90 example devices. I'm just about to install the pack but already quite excited about this as, even though a lot of info is already out there I felt there was quite a gap between very basic info and delving deep into the max forums, the various books that are available and a number of in some cases slightly obscure websites that are spread all over and this pack seems to offer a sort of middle-ground that's nicely contained. This playlist has overview videos for all the lessons: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoh4MB-kbBmI1pXYI4M1jX2_5xpMNS-g- The pack: https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/building-max-devices/
  8. Yes. It seems common/tempting to think that mostly criminals (can’t think of a better way to put this) get involved in this kind of violence which couldn’t be further from the truth. Can’t imagine what is must be like to lose multiple people like that, in the blink of an eye. Don’t know what else to say, hope you’re able to grief together with those important and close to you.

  13. I'm mostly hoping boc will release an old album and I will now use some bulletpoint statements to legitimize my hope; -old album is already finished, new album in potential constant state of flux -nostalgic lo-fi hiphop beats to be sentimental to is boc's usp -old boc is good boc new boc is foreign boc -boc are pretty goddamn old by now and shouldn't embarrass theyselves by trying to do something new -the best boc is the boc we have -new bad old good -vintage synthesizers are analog and that is better than the midi controller who're digital (except for a couple of analog plugins who were designed with physical modelling in mind and etc)
  14. Maybe if we all pitch in WATMM could buy you a bike so you don't have to resort to running? Either way sorry to hear you've fallen upon hard times and hope you're able to adjust to the best of your abilities.
  15. Elon doesn't take kindly to those that allow scott(ish) avant-garde cryptofascists churning out industrial-grade electronically produced folkstep with strong nostalgic overtones to take control of their innermost private thingies frivolously manifesting. Adapt syntactically or serve as it comes!!

  17. Looking forward to giving those limited Karl Hyde coffee cups a proper rinse this weekend. Ace!
  18. Sold a eurorack module, mailed it out and a couple of days later I get a picture from the buyer showing a parcel with a shipping label that's got my name and address on it as the sender but it's from one of those "I'll buy 10 sizes of each and see which one fits and send the rest back to whatever cunting fast fashion chain I get my retarded bullshit clothes from" assholes, buyer rightfully asks "what's this? this definitely isn't a bleepy bloopy generator". I'm at a complete loss as I saw the dude at the parcelshop stick the label to my shipment before I left. I contact the shipping company and basically what they're gonna do is open random parcels that they happen to have sitting around that fit the description of my package (very average sized and covered in beige packing tape...can't miss it) and if they haven't found the missing item within 5 or so business days then that's it pretty much. Obviously they're not gonna find it and I don't want to shaft the buyer but simultaneously the reason I'm selling my modules is because I need to eat and pay rent and that's a quarter of this months rent vanished and it's due at the end of this week. The buyer has little legal recourse (they picked the shipping company, DHL which is always my last choice) but I really don't want to leave them completely empty-handed. I guess I'll propose to split the damage or something. Also it feels so goddamn entitled to complain about shipping company fuck-ups, even if the companies are evil money-grabbing scumbags. Everything fucking sucks and I pray to god a swift and unexpected death is imminent, nothing that lingers please.
  19. I'm fairly certain the mouth is not the intended destination for those eggs.
  20. I've been finding the explanations by Robert Miles, posted mostly to his own channel and the Computerphile channel on yt very informative and thought-provoking. Here's one of the first ones I saw that got me digging a bit deeper (don't let the self-aware clickbaity thumbnail put you off):
  21. I deleted my account in anticipation of exactly that over a decade ago and to this day reap the benefits of that decision. The downside is that I can't have people over anymore for fear of them opening the door to my memory-room where I've plastered our, by now semen and tears soaked WhatsApp chat history to the walls. I was pondering my right leg still not having recovered from an injury that it sustained almost a year ago during an emergency stop while descending a bridge. My right calf brought the bike to an instant stop by catching the left pedal after I'd jumped off and couldn't keep up with the bike. When I came home that night my leg looked like it belonged to a floater or I was wearing a bizarre soggy blue and purple blood boot. It still occasionally throbs and tingles and gets a bit swollen and while I was thinking about this I observed that at some point today one of my front bottom teeth has spontaneously dislocated and is now slightly angled and raised above the others like some sort of tooth-king. Haven't hit my 40s yet but already I'm coming apart at the seams. Good.
  22. Market dynamics don't necessarily result in the best outcomes for consumers but are dictated by what's best for the few large players that dominate said market? Just a wild guess. Ofc this "fuck capitalism" stance is a privilege held by the happy few that aren't dependent on capitalism for either their income or platform for creative output.
