  1. It just looks like a Harrington style jacket. There are 100s of brands that do their own version, but the original was made by a uk company called Baracuta. Still going.
  2. Interesting, I was thinking of getting the Output sidecar or whatever it's called, until I read about the problems before christmas. Found a different solution in the meantime.
  3. This is watmm's 4th decade. I suspect a lot of you will die in the next decade. Happy New Year.
  4. jfc, Nathan Barley was a warning not a template.
  5. Elektron model:samples is £269 at Andertons uk for black friday.
  6. Polyphony suggests 4 fully articulated voices i.e. 4 osc, 4 filters, 4 vcas. This is 4 osc, 1 filter, 1 vca. This isn't polyphonic by any conventional understanding of what that terms means.
  7. I've had mine for 6 years and it's been fine. It's just one of the ic chips that blows, it's socketed so easy enough to replace. I suspect the behringer will be smt which will make it more difficult.
  8. Yes, when I first saw it I didn't realize they'd filled it with dsp, I thought the EaganMatrix must be a native version of it. At the initial price I agree, I'd have a harder time justifying it at the list price. I'm a bit sceptical that they'll ship next summer. I hope they keep the stripped back look.
  9. I've considered it in the past, but was concerned about the ergonomics of something like this sitting in the rack. Having said that I have an er101/102 and metropolis/planar combos sitting in 2 separate 4ms pods, so I can move them about, which would probably work quite well for this.
  10. It looks like people are trouble shooting and working through it, so I don't think it's a write off, but I'm holding off any decision until there are more working diy builds in non expert hands.
  11. There always seems to be a lot of chatter on the fb build group about problems, particularly over the last weekend.
  12. I've put down a payment on the Expressive E Osmose which was just announced. I was considering the ASM Hydrasynth largely for the polyphonic aftertouch, the interface looks great also, but couldn't shake the fact that I'm not overly keen on the sound engine. I think this will suit me better. I may pair it with one of the Black Corporation synths if I decide that's my big synth diy project next year. I was dead set on the Kijimi but it looks like they have messed up the diy version, so probably either the DD or Xerxes.
  13. I've been asked to dj at an event by someone I vaguely know after they saw my record collection. I'm only going to play records that have been recommended by boomkat between 2003 and 2006 and whose value on discogs is less than the postage and packaging if I ever got round to selling them. So the entire fucking collection then. I'm going to be doing some polite intermittent IDM beat boxing over the top, and then at the end while I play a badly conceived 00's bootleg by various production I'm going full gg allin and defecating on the other turntable, ramping it up to max speed and using it as an indiscriminate shit cannon that sprays shit over me and everyone else. Anyway my fwp is I can't decide on a dj name. I've narrowed it down to: DJ shit cannon Bukachre DJ DJ Nina Kraviz
  14. Taking the ableton fanboyism a little too far I think.
  15. Morrsions was absolutely infested with students this afternoon. Decided to hang around the 'free from' and vegan section, see if there were any art school sluts I could pick up. Had my headphones on, so was humming along to Anaconda by Nicki Minaj. No success getting any numbers but did manage to press my moist tumescent cock through my pyjamas into the backs of a few surprised girls as I reached forward to add some gluten free pasta to my basket. What are they going to do, complain to instagram?
  16. Ten years. If anyone wants to smother me in my sleep, give me your bank details and I'll send you a fee and the address.
  17. New Abul Mogard live set from the weekend, bit of Above All Dreams in there but otherwise new material. Hopefully means new album at some point. I've just had it on loop in the background this evening, sounds great.
  18. Meris Mercury7 Ensoniq DP2 Midiverb 2 Spring reverb in Moog GM Tiptop Zdsp with Valhalla, Mariana Trench and Vertigo cards Make Noise Mimeophon (sort of delay/reverb combined. I've not tried this yet as need to re-arrange one of the modular cases)
  19. I've seen the analogy of bbds being analogue sampling, I think because each stage in the bbd is effectively a sample and hold circuit and they have filter stages like a DAC/ADC, but never thought of 'digital aliasing in the analog domain'. I'm going to read up on it and try to get my head round it. There was a useful guide to the trim pots on the FX90 , I'm not sure this is the same one I used, but it's useful and gives an example of the self oscillation. I think I've read that even with adjustment not all FX90s will self oscillate. It was actually set up to self oscillate when I first got it but I have it fairly tame at the moment. https://www.doktorsewage.com/hot-rod-dod-mod-fx90-analog-delay/ I know what you mean with the slowly degrading quality, I often use it with my modular and then drive it back through a resonant filter.
  20. I have a few hardware delays, rack, stompbox and modular, nothing particularly esoteric, but my favourite is still probably the DOD FX90 (uses an MN3005 bbd). Noisy and dirty and goes into self-oscillation when pushed.
  21. The TC/Behringer doesn't use the MN3009 chips and to my ears doesn't sound anything like the Juno chorus. I have a Feedback 106 (which does use MN3009) in my modular which pretty much nails the sound.
  22. I've been enjoying this collaboration/live set from Cortini and Lawrence English from last year.
  23. Abul Mogard is an obvious choice, but one of my favourite things he's done is hidden away on his soundcloud page from 2012: Weirdly he lives round the corner from me and I occasionally spot him out and about. So far resisted the temptation to shout 'great drones mate'.
  24. Yes, I have a Piston Honda mk3. I like it because tonally it is completely different from the rest of my setup, its rich/harsh sound still pairs well with my outboard effects., but the balance between intention and usable results is sometimes a bit too much. I've considered swapping it out for the Hertz Donut, but I'm going to try with different custom wavetables before seriously considering that. I do have space in my overflow case for another complex osc. but I'm going to wait for the Xaoc Odessa first.
