  1. public schools have had security guards and checked for randos in the halls for a long long time.. back in the 70s at least. more so in the 80s at middle schools and highschools. mostly to keep kids from wandering the halls and skipping class but also to prevent kids from other schools who had some beef w/a student.
  2. something in this ouvre but more fantastical and slightly bizarre is "The Good Lord Bird".. based on the book which is a retelling of the story of John Brown with some entertaining fun flourishes.
  3. IDF meme'd a before after pic of the buildings they blew up. john oliver hits on most points and is even handed mostly about framing the current violence.
  4. a lot of his stuff of that era is all supercollider patches. so good.
  5. if it was me i'd have to give the mother in law slices of cucumber sarcastically passive aggressive whatever. and definitely would hide a cucumber in her luggage somewhere so she finds it when she gets home. send her a book about cucumbers for xmas or birthday. also, a couple months after she goes back home send her an email or give her a call and tell her you took the baby to the doctor and it's been discovered the baby is allergic to cucumbers. family dynamics can be so strange when adults fail to read the room. my ex would get quite blunt w/her parents sometimes when she got frustrated w/them not listening. thankfully that usually did the trick. her parents are good people but old hippies from LARGE Irish catholic families so they had their own issues. could be challenging some times.
  6. it's true. the call is coming from inside the house
  7. it's really up to whoever is running the simulation.
  8. i think i posted this in that octatrack thread but.. gets progressively more intense. ?
  9. i imagine that's what the gods are doing to each other while watching the Earth show.
  10. that was supposed to come out on schematic but schematic dragged their feet for whatever reason. he's always active doing music in some way. just not always electronic stuff. he's playing bass in a jazz band w/really good singer. he's a music teacher so is very versatile. pre pandemic he played at this surround sound ambient night and did some really amazing stuff. not ambient really.. more like experimental weirdness. was actually pretty intense laptop session. ten or so years ago he played live a lot in and around portland. was always so good. all kinds of mutations of the Ritual EP and all that experimental bass heavy electro type stuff. i love that EP and that track in particular is all kinds of top tier shit. track 3. he seems to always have tracks he's sitting on so hopefully some of it find its way out sometime. he's doing some mixing for other people. he mixed some of the tracks on that Alignment compilation. he had some stuff come out a few years back on the Bot label from LA. then i released the untitled EP on buried in time. which i surprisingly still have some copies. of.. and also he's got a track on a vinyl comp i released called "Glib Meetings" as "Vector Idol" if you've checked his bandcamp you've heard all this but figured i'd post it here because i think his stuff is so good. i was glad when he put a bancdcamp together w/all his stuff in one place.
  11. a bunch of nice electro-ish tunes on this. a little bit of ambient and a little bit of weird. a good start for a new imprint.
  12. most ambient music just makes me think about all the other ambient music that sounds nearly identical and was only made to create joy for the person who created it. which. i guess is a roundabout way of getting to the point where the crushing weight of existence might be considered.
  13. pretty sure i farted out my spirit yesterday. wow. i offended myself even and thought about moving.
  14. there's the music theory for electronic musicans book https://www.amazon.com/Music-Theory-Electronic-Producers-progressions/dp/172786302X/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=music+theory+for+electronic+musicians&qid=1621113712&sr=8-2 uses ableton a lot.
