Now That Trump's President... (not any more!)
ignatius replied to Nebraska's topic in General Banter
i'm not following really.. are you saying they're trying to give trump enough rope to hang himself? i don't think that will work for trump. but also i think the report wasn't going to be held back by anyone. people wanted it and barr's shitty summary wasn't going to do. i don't see him as doing us any favors. he's an advocate for unchecked presidential powers. shrug. edit: the article makes a good point but i'm not getting my hopes up.- 22,233 replies

^^ looks like that live coding language.. algorave stuff.. i forget what it's called. i have a friend who recently got into it and he likes it. i guess it's not so difficult if you understand some code already.. he took to it pretty quickly. something like tidalCycles maybe?

and his parents died protecting him during the mass shooting. apparently, per the kids uncle who is a trump supporter, the father of the kid was a trump supporter also. head explodes.- 22,233 replies

Deutsche Bank and Wall Street banks reportedly just gave Congress thousands of documents related to Russians with possible ties to Trump https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/deutsche-bank-jpmorgan-give-congress-donald-trump-russia-documents-2019-8-1028431306?utm_source=reddit.com- 22,233 replies

honestly it's hard to quantify and probably a dumb thing for me to say but there's some parts w/big reverbs that really remind me of some Ae stuff so i came to that as a possibility... also some of the synth patches/filter/modulations give me that vibe but i suspect PD or some other coding environment isn't going to be far off. one of the things about max is it doesn't really have that signature like something like reaktor does.. or it's easier to get away from any kind of super obvious character... it doesn't have that sheen or something.. but after listening to lot's of electronic music for a long time and knowing that some people use max my ear detects it some times. so, totally fucking anecdotal statement!

some of it sounds really Max-ish but who knows.. could be a number of different things including straight up algorithmic live coding environment or something.

everything is because masculinity is threatened. https://pcmdnews.com/university-professor-men-dont-recycle-because-they-dont-want-people-thinking-theyre-gay/ According to Penn State professor of psychology Janet K. Swim, men can be unwilling to perform environmentally friendly tasks if they perceive them as ‘gendered’, such as using reusable shopping bags. The fear seemed to be that if men were to engage in these allegedly gender nonconforming tasks, other people might think they’re gay. -

regarding mental illness in america.. i think it's very typical to see how the conversation is centered around protecting other people from mass shooters or people who will become violent instead of actually helping people with mental illness live better lives and be part of society. it's fucking unsurprising that no one is really talking about in the media how people with mental illness are largely not considered beyond making them convenient for the masses should they be encountered in any way. i'm patiently waiting for someone in the media or in an interview to mention that maybe we should focus on mental health for the betterment of the people who actually have mental illness and are suffering. sure, several mental health advocates have brought up that the vast majority of people suffering w/mental health issues are not violent in any way and often are barely motivated to leave the house and be part of society in any way. the whole mental health discussion in relation to mass shootings is missing the fucking point and typical of america in so many ways.- 22,233 replies

in the 90s there was an art exhibit where the artist had a guest book for the exhibit and to get to the book to sign it you had to walk across the american flag that was spread out on the floor in front of it. a guy and his kid made a big show of picking up the flag and folding it properly. i think they got arrested. i can't recall. slamming a 13 yr old's head on the ground is insane. that guy hopefully goes to jail.. gets sued or something. that's fucked. i'm surprised a huge fight didn't break out. -

NRA, capitalism. lot's of guns are sold in USA. we're 4% of the worlds gun owners but own like 50% of all the guns in the world. lot's of dollars bring pause to congress and obviously the president. i just saw a story about trump admin trying to shift responsibility to social media companies and mental health workers for finding people who might move to violent action because mental illness. derp. it was followed by a story about 'soft targets' and what to do to protect them and putting cops everywhere.. bars, malls, parks etc to police for shooters.. the answer seems to be let's make everyone miserable so some people who like assault weapons can have assault weapons.- 22,233 replies
