  1. That's what I was hoping for after the advertisement, but it didn't really hold up for me in that regard, it felt more like 'just another d 'n' b album" after all -- not necessarily a bad one, but not really genre-defying either. No biggie though, I'll get my sound porn fix from old Objekt and new Monolake instead.

  3. I tried, but it ain't happenin'. But I've never been a huge d'n'b head, so yeah.

    Now Reading

Yeah, I member Hyperbole and a Half and loved it, will have to check out the new one, but not without some trepidation, as I'm hardly the same person now who loved that book seven years ago and frankly did kind of forget about her in the meantime. But I know that at the time I found it funny as hell. I liked the first half better, and the whole thing could have used some trimming down, but I guess it wouldn't really be Kaufman without the megalomaniacal (and in parts self-indulging) monumentality. I found it best to only read a couple of pages per day, and every time I go back to it, there are always some details I don't remember; it's almost like the darn thing keeps changing on me, like when you're familiarising yourself with a new Autechre record. The sheer amount of stuff in there is insane and can be sort of overwhelming. So in a way it's the gift that keeps on giving for me, but I fully understand people dropping it after a couple hundred pages. It's certainly not for everyone.
  5. When I think "hi-hat", this I always the first track that comes to mind. The way it mutates throughout the track, but especially from 4:50 onwards, when it sets in after the break, then switches gears a couple of seconds later, only to lift off into the ether. Gets me every time. It's hard to find a version online that does the effect justice, but I you have an uncompressed version of the track you probably know what I'm talking about. You can sort of perceive it here: Also this, naturally:
  6. I fall asleep every single night listening to Autechre, sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed in the morning.
  7. Although I find that advantage is kind of cancelled out by having to wait in long-ass queues outside of stores in the winter cold bc. only one or two customers are allowed inside at any given time.
  8. Yeah, me too, same show, same sentiment. Feels weird. Also, the new reality has started seeping into my dreams a couple of weeks ago. Not consistently, but here and there I'll now sport a mask in dreamland or become self-conscious about not wearing one.
  9. Hi Rich, could u collect all dem bits & pcs on 1 release I can buy pls, 2 old for paperchasin', k thx, bi. ?

  13. I was going to try this but now I'm not so sure.
  14. Absolutely. I adore pretty much everything he's put out, but this truly feels like some next-level shit to me. I'm very curious to see how he'll evolve from here; could well be the start of a new creative period.
  15. Have you tried mixing both? That has opened up a new world for me. Something controversial about me ... hmmm ... I've never had a cup of coffee in my life. A lot of people find that unfathomable.
  16. Sounds like a clear-cut win-win to me tbqf.
  17. SFWP: I spent half the day online looking for a new laptop and printer, and now it's 3 p.m., I've just eaten six slices of grilled cheese toast (I hate you, @dingformung, how could you do that to me?) and feel like taking a nap, but I have all the day's work ahead of me. FML.
  18. Why yes it is, and that's exactly what I'm going to do rn. Thanks for the lovely inspiration; I wasn't in the mood for pasta and had momentarily forgotten about the other option.
  19. Masha and the Bear is ace. We're also watching Duck Tales (the original series, dunno about the reboot), and she loves The Adventures of Puss in Boots, DC Superhero Girls and Miraculous.
  20. How are you guys not unanimously hailing this as the Second Coming? it is GIGANTIC. Absolutely stunning production, incredibly lush pads the likes of which we haven't heard from Robert before; there's so much going on in these tracks I don't even know in which direction to eargasm. On a good system, it sounds so extremely wide and so full and luscious at the same time, it's just out of this world. MAMMOTH release, as far as I'm concerned. This has totally floored me; it's almost so overwhelming that I have to take breaks between tracks to collect myself. My favorite Monolake album in a long time and a strong contender for AOTY. I'm flabbergasted. What the actual fuck.
