I saw that! Pretty neat. What do you reckon made the main bendy bass line that comes in near the beginning, maybe the tx81z, or was than an analog bass?

I think it's hard to mix this kind of thing. A lot of the background acid lines are quiet and the drums are way up front, including heavy repeated kick drums. So the mix needs lots of room so the kicks don't sound thin but they don't overpower the track either. It's got a similar sound to syro mastering I think. Drukqs was kind of a similar situation, the tracks are so busy that the mixing needs to cut a lot of bottom end off. I personally like the mastering of this release though. Not too compressed but still very loud and punchy. Also the primavera track has been CONFIRMED to be on the new album (via shazam lol). Mt1 T29r2 Also, anyone notice that the that T69 collapse has the exact synth loop as the t69 field day track at a certain point?

It's funny. I was even there live for this song in houston, and I didn't really like the track all that much, washed out and couldn't hear much of the detail. hearing it in Hi-Fi on headphones it really shines though. Love the little flangy bits, and subtle reverb changes and compression and gating going on in the background, and ratcheting on the drums with that super tight timing. It's growing on my with each listen. EDIT: if we get the primavera track in this release I will bust a nut.

I'm still feeling pretty good those 2 tracks will most likely be on this EP. Also willing to go as far to say that the Primavera track may be the track we'll be hearing late tonight. Good. I'm glad we got nostradamus himself to weigh in on this matter.

am I the only one that would classify the primavera and houston tracks as "newphex"? I feel like that's the closest thing to a glimpse of "new" that we've ever heard.

Yeah, basically experiment. I use all sorts of ways/things to get the sound how I want before going into the box or to tape. Nice old mixers Valve Pres Tape Analog Heat Few compressors Outboard FX Analog delays Synth Ext inputs Samplers using the room (different speakers, Amps, mics, objects to capture differently) I have the RNC too, great little box and does a good job on the master too. Good ideas! Using the room is an amazing concept! I ideally want to run a setup where I have a set of speakers in another room hooked up to one of my aux sends on my mixer with a set of microphones. So I can get some real room verb going on. I love that sound. Got the idea from noisia, also suspect it's used on analord quite a bit as well as the tuss, i think it's also used by jon hopkins sometimes.

I have an eventide H9 but I'm a little annoyed that program changes have such a long delay and it sounds like shit if you do it during a song live. Any suggestions on a nice verb unit that has instant program switching and possibly spillover? Also what do you guys use to make your hardware setups sound fucking nice and lush and loud and not fucked up. I don't use computers anymore so I can't use plugins. I have a behringer compressor/limiter thingy and a RNC compressor. Just wondering if I should throw a stereo graphic EQ in there? maybe an exciter? something to add subtle saturation? I want to experiment with some things.

I agree with this. I do about the transitional part, but i think it is fully formed. I think it flows really well. feels complete in it's own to me. It's someone at Amazon done fucked up, is what it is "But we don't even know what the price is!" .... oh wait
