    Went to a festival today, was not told by anyone that there were no ins and outs. I started out calmly explaining my situation and got my receipt from the box office, but eventually had to litigate with some half-retarded low rent security guards before they got a cop to come over and threaten to arrest me for trespassing. Probably because I made them think, rather than stand around doing nothing all day. Great job, guys.

    Maybe some can sell drugs to pay for school? Ideally, right? The government can put the blame on a single person, but not a large group of people. Determinism is a stronger force than free will (which is just a necessary illusion anyway). Social class can convince people of what's expected of them. The Wire does a much better job than I could explaining this situation and from many more angles.

    Boogie Nights is at least 11/10. Oh and yes, every role Marky Mark has played since has been some variation or facet of Dirk Diggler. It's the only way his career can make any sense.

    Oh yeah, he did great, GREAT stuff. Ampexian is really good too, but I think he spread himself a bit thin sort of like Omar Rodrguez Lopez.

    I would rather have seen Stringer Bell, Avon Barksdale, and even Bubbles himself face off against the aliens in Prometheus, because those scientists clearly lacked street smarts. (serious)

    Ed Wood alone cements Depp's reputation as a supreme person who plays characters in movies. Depp in tons of makeup is always a bad sign though.

    I had never heard much NIN, but I listened to the Broken EP recently and loved it. I think Pretty Hate Machine kind of just turned me off.

    Get Homicide too. If you're enjoying this definitely check out In Search of Respect by Philippe Bourgois.     The Corner: A Year In The Life Of An Inner City Neighborhood by David Simon and Edward Burns Picked it up from the library because I'm watching The Wire right now.

    I won't deny that it's very polished and well thought out, but it seems like they made the album a bit sparse and unsatisfying on purpose because of the theme. Tracks that seem like they'll pay off or really go somewhere, but don't. Cut short (sort of like the human race's existence!)... and my enjoyment of the music. A lot of well established groups know they have their musical style and method on motherfucking lockdown, so they put a lot more thought into how it's presented. Whittling things away until the edges are nice and smooth. There are things to like here, but it's very light on those things in my opinion. Lots of buildup, potential starts to be explored, then *done*. A lot of the music here seems like a real no-brainer for them, but it's the concept they're really stressing.
