  1. If you're a fan of True Widow I can imagine you'll like this very much. When Betty came out, I immediately liked it better than Meantime. Still their best IMHO.
  2. Fuck yeah. Was expecting this soon as I knew they were working on new material. Surprise drop is excellent. Gonna listen to this when I get a long enough break between meetings. Never saw them live, not even sure I even started listening to them until the late 90s or early 2000s, but I like them a lot. Seems people are very pleased with this.
  3. I finally ordered some new house slippers and got XXL because I'm used to needing the largest size when it comes to socks and gloves and often companies don't even make stuff large enough, but it turns out they're actually a little too big. I wear size 12-13 which would have been XL. The XXL is size 14-15. I already took off the tags and they don't have any XL in stock so I guess I'm just gonna keep them.
  4. Finished Killing Eve season 3. I've enjoyed it but wouldn't mind if the series ended. Not that this season was bad but maybe it's run its course. Just learned on IMDB that a 4th season is coming though. Finished up season 2 of Sex Education and we really enjoyed that one. Highly recommended. Started Homecoming on Amazon Prime. I thought it was a long-format series (45min/1hr), so that's a little disappointing as I like something that takes up a little bit more time. Anyway it seems interesting, we watched 2 episodes. I'm not sure my girlfriend was into it though, so we'll see. Just about all the series we've got going right now are short ones, so I'm looking for another long one to add for daily viewing. Not sure what it'll be yet.
  5. Eighth Grade (2018) This was kinda good? I think it accurately portrayed a lot of middle school and high school anxieties, and that means it was cringy and uncomfortable. Audio mix wasn't great, with the music being far too loud compared to the audio. Kept having to adjust. Blow the Man Down (2019) This was pretty good, reminded me a little of Shipping News (the book) and Fargo. But not as good as Fargo the movie or the series, to be clear. Maybe just because of cold climates and death cover-ups.
  6. I ordered an electric standing desk. Good investment.
  7. I basically tried to do that last weekend – we'd been discussing details of the car via email the week prior, and then I didn't hear anything from him for a week. By then I was ready to negotiate, so I first called the dealership to ask if he was alright, but the woman just put me through to his voicemail. I submitted a separate inquiry via their website in hopes of speaking to someone else. I got a generic email response from another salesman, but end of their work day Saturday and they were closed Sunday. He then finally emailed me Monday and here we are. Just got an email from him this morning saying they were only 2 at the dealership yesterday and he wasn't able to return my call. Wants to talk today and paperwork will be FedEx'ed to me Monday. I was really hoping for some DocuSign stuff but that's too much to expect from an industry that is used to in-person transactions. Guess that's gonna tack on another week of back and forth...but at least it's moving along. Anytime I don't hear from him I can't help but assume he's trying to get rid of me and sell the car to someone locally. ? Wouldn't blame him, but also would expect transparency if that was the case.
  8. Happens to me sometimes. Try some Lubriderm Daily Moisture lotion - I apply it to my legs and arms after I shower.
  9. I decided to buy a used car, and I'm buying out of state because it's difficult finding the right combination of options and colors that I'm looking for. The dealership is taking for fucking ever to get this transaction over with and it's maddening. I'm just sitting here waiting to sign some papers for a damn week so I can request vehicle transport. Anytime I've ever purchased a car, new or used, locally the transaction was done in a day. We agreed on a price Monday, I told him how much I was putting down, gave him copies of my DL and insurance, filled out the credit application (my credit is excellent) and now it's Friday and I STILL don't have any damn papers to sign. He's asked me one-off questions via email over the last few days like "what county are you in?" (he already had my full address), "how much are you putting down?" (I put that in my credit application), and today "have you started the transportation process yet?" Fed up with these random emails, I called him to answer this question and see if he had any others so we could wrap this up, but I got his voicemail and left a message. Emailed him the answer too. I'm not booking transport until I have a signed contract, of course. Beginning of the week I figured I could get the car picked up between Thursday and Saturday, now it's gonna have to be Mon-Wed next week at best – assuming he can get this wrapped up today or tomorrow. I've never experienced such incompetence from a legitimate car dealership! And this guy has a 5-star rating on the dealer's site. So infuriating! It's gonna be at least a week from when I request transport till I get the car, so it's just really annoying. Part of me hopes another car I like pops up locally today so I can tell this guy to shove it. I gave him my CC info Monday or Tuesday for a hold deposit but he hasn't run anything so I'm sure I'd be fine. UGH!
  10. Started watching Sex Education on Netflix. Pretty good, although my girlfriend pointed out it's always weird watching actors that are playing teen characters engage in sex. Especially when it's more explicit with nudity and orgasms. Obviously it hadn't phased me till she pointed it out. Anyway she's chill with continuing to watch it which is great because it's entertaining.
  11. Started watching Oh Jerome, No last night on Hulu. Caught my eye last week when looking at the phone app because that's my name so I wanted to check it out, not expecting much as I didn't know who was in it. Well I find it pretty funny and was surprised to recognize some actors, so I'll continue watching. Odd thing is that it's short format, like 12-ish minute episodes. ?
  12. Never heard this, sounds good. Only Arca stuff I'd heard was Xen and Mutant, and I preferred the former. First track in this thread is not for me – totally respect artists putting themselves out there as music is a representation of self. Seems like a re-introduction, and that's fine. It's just doesn't do anything for me, and yes, a bit cringe and definitely too on the nose. "Time" and "@@@@@" sound better. But still, I think I'll explore more of the old stuff before I spend any time with this album.
  13. Some days my glasses really fog up, some days they don't. Ugh.
  14. I'm debating getting a new (to me) vehicle and the ones that I really want (right color combo) are over 2,000 miles away. Also I don't really need the new car I've just wanted this particular vehicle for a very long time and there are good deals to be had right now and I can afford it and I'm losing sleep over it because I really want it but I also still find my current car practical and reliable and I love the color and I'm working from home and there really isn't that much driving to be done right now or in the future anyway but goddammit I just wanna have some fun and my car is fucking slow and I just really want this one ok? Fuck. I miss driving. I still drive several times a week but pretty small trips for the most part – groceries and such. Some days I miss living in a more sprawled out city with poor public transit that required driving everywhere. I like cars. Always have. Went 4 years without one about 10 years ago and that was nice due to my lifestyle at the time but now I'm goddamn middle-aged and it's time for my midlife-crisis car...but I don't need it.
  15. Started season 2 of Dead to Me. So far season 1 was better, this is feeling a bit forced already. But still enjoying it enough to continue. Finished Hunters, and will not be watching any future seasons. So messy. Continuing to watch Insecure. Still really like it. Need to find a new hour-long series to start. I've been wanting to watch The Outsider but I don't think my g/f is interested.
  16. My girlfriend made these incredible 1:1 mushroom/beef burgers last Sunday. Had second round Wednesday.
  17. We started watching this last year but my girlfriend lost interest quickly and thought it had too many holes. I continued a few eps on my own but eventually stopped as I prioritized other shows in my solo TV watching. I liked it alright but don't know if I'll have the chance to pick it up again.
  18. Tunnels - The Blackout (2011) OMD - Dazzle Ships (1983) Sparks - Kimono My House (1974) Section 25 - From the Hip (1984) Streetwalker - Future Fusion (2013) Blood Orange - Negro Swan (2018)
  19. Clearly many of us desk jockeys will be working from home for some time longer. But I think a lot of companies are or will be re-evaluating the need for some staff to actually work in the office. Mine included! We just had an extended version of our Monday morning stand-up in which this was announced. We already knew there would be a phased approach to getting folks back in the office, they did a survey asking employees for thoughts and concerns about going back to the office, they've looked at space planning and have been talking to experts, etc. But this morning they specifically said they're re-evaluating WFH policies and may go as far as to suggest that some employees don't come back to the office full time. While fully acknowledging that people will need to get together occasionally as being face to face is beneficial for planning, brainstorming, etc. and some work just requires that along with whiteboards and such. Seems I, along with everyone else on my team, will at least be WFH full time through the summer and then maybe getting some office time in the fall. I have enjoyed the flexibility of being able to WFH when I need or want to with my last 3 jobs over the last 7 years. In the job I left last December, I was WFH too much because our local staff had dwindled to 3-4 and we often found ourselves alone in the office so it was pointless unless we coordinated to go in on the same days. I got tired of WFH so much and not really collaborating with people. So despite the longer commute I had with my new/current job, I enjoyed being back in an office environment. My ass is tired of sitting at home and not moving around as much. I think it's harder to manage anxiety too, with the reduced movement. I'm getting a little claustrophobic. But anyway, I totally understand why we're doing this and why we need to keep doing this. Times is weird and what are you gonna do? I think a lot of people are gonna have to buy portable or window AC units in Seattle this summer. Glad I already have one, just haven't set it up in this house yet.
