Friend's mom hears us listening to it and we're only like 9 or so and she confiscates it saying "you two shouldn't be listening to that" as if it were this portal to trials of adulthood that we shouldn't have to know about for another 10 years or so.

frankly I'd have to agree with her there.

ooooh. how is this??

it's great. don't know what exactly to say, there's like 5 hours of stuff (or even more) - but there isn't a single track that i "don't like"...

oh, and my tapes are red, not black :/

A little wobbly and with noticeable hiss but somewhat "nicer" sounding than digital formats due to a smoother top end and slight compression that occurs naturally due to transients not being captured as accurately as digital recordings.

Wow, way to rip off old Mega Drive Sega artwork. Almost as bad as Jega with the Sega font...

you think that might be a little intentional?

Well of course it is - my point was rather than do a clever duplication, the artist just scanned in the boxart wholesale and didn't bother changing much, if anything.

you know, i've been so tempted to pick up one of those tapes from leaving records (even tho i don't have a cassette player)... this kind of music would really suit the cassette format imo

I don't buy them because lack of quality, but that also depends on what it is.. i would buy the BoC tapes instantly if i could find them.

picked this Akai up on ebay because my dad refused to part with his NAD. although in hindsight I probably wouldn't of gotten something so vintage. shipping kind of fucked it up and I had to replace a loose belt.

Here is a portion of my tape collection. I've been collecting them over the past 25 years or so. No biggie.

The rest are back at my mom's hose...

6863557538_2b2e7f4ce4_b.jpg

There are many more, but a lot of gems are pictured:

(above)

Coil - The Snow EP

Godflesh -Streetcleaner

2001 A Space Odyssey - Soundtrack (from the 60s. the tape is the same color as the case. Bright blue plastic)

All Analords, dubbed to cassette to preserve my 12"s. They sound better on tape, imo

The Universal Indicator and Caustic window 12" collections (I traded them to someone over the internet for one of my Aphex Twin promotional masks, before they were available on CD). The "AFX-AFX" tape is AnalogueBubs 2&3 and HangableABs 1&2

That whole left row of the large pic is most of my original jungle mixtape collection from back in the day (I'm DJ Tanner, FYI).

I've found links to download most of them off the internet. I'll post the links, if I have them...

(*** = indicates that you must have it too!!!)

Trailblazers Vol1 (DJ3D and DJ Rinse)

Danny Breaks @ "The Original Boom" - Chicago

Phantom 45 - Dusted Fader

DJ3D/Snuggles - Chicago Darksteppers

Phantom 45 - Think Twice ***

Dieselboy - DNB Selection USA

95 Brockout (Dextrous, Rude Boy Kieth, Ruffneck, Snuggles, JJ Jellybean, MC Blackeye)

ESASSIN - Dreams and Nightmares

95 Brockout (Dextrous, Rude Boy Kieth)

RAW - Watch Me Shred

DJ TONI - Afterland (I cannot find any info on this tape anywhere on the internet. It is mostly Acid Techno. Great stuff)

DJ3D - Urban Jungle ***

Mystical Influence - Syndicated ***

DR Groo - Agent Orange ***

Timestretch / 119 Crew

DJ3D - Eclipse

The Big Rewind (3x cassette w/ Hype, Kenny Ken & Brockie)

6863599894_6df629cf35_n.jpg7009710997_7ed574c506.jpg

The Jungle Book, Chicago 1996 *** ( the DJ3D tape is by far the best. If you download only one, that is the one)

The far right, there are some Danzig & Samhain bootlegs.

The top right is a big box of about 30 or 40 of my own recordings.

7009712221_1000c46a5a.jpg

Coil - Love's Secret Domain

That version of Kill Em All has the 2 bonus tracks ("Blitzkreig" and "Am I Evil")

That "Maxell" tape is DJ Curious' Reminiscence of a Rudeboy ***<--download it now!

6863596062_c374bd1f40.jpg

DJ Scud's mixtape "Short Sharp Shock" (soooo fucking massive)

my Ryko/Bowie tape collection (all have several bonus tracks)

DEVO - Hardcore Vol 1

Not Pictured:

The Orb - Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (double cassete)

A shitload of metal tapes (Pantera, COC, Ozzy... you name it)

A bunch of local bands from Chicago in the early 90s.

A ton more. Whatevs. I love tapes.

I also forgot to picture my Ceephax - Ceeland tape :(
