What Was Your First Commercially Produced Music Purchase?

What was the first piece of commercially-produced (i.e., not a mixtape or home recording) piece of music you ever bought?

Me?

It was the single (cassette) from Suzanne Vega's album, 99.9 F° - Blood Makes Noise. I had always taped any music I liked off the radio or TV (I used to record Doctor Who on PBS off the TV onto audio cassette before my parents broke down and bought a VHS recorder). Paid 3USD for it at Tower Records in Citrus Heights, California (which is sadly gone now) in 1992.

Nik Kershaw 'Human Racing'. My first 'favourite artist' of my own, that wasn't just a taste acquired from some sibling's collection. My 6 older sisters and brothers thought he was shit.

Cassette version of

I bought it because my mom was a huge Christian and I was looking around the store and couldn't find anything and then I picked that up and she told me not to buy it because it was satanic, so I bought it anyway.

Yeah, my parents bought me Thriller when I was tiny.

First self-purchase was I think

or

Although those might have been x-mas gifts in 1991.

Can't remember.

No wait, it was Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction on tape.

This is the first I actually remember buying with my own money.

I had others before, but I think I begged for them from my parents or got them for Christmas and whatnot.

Yeah, I had others earlier - but that was the first one I bought.
