figured out this why i love electronic music. It takes only one man (and a few machines) to perform what a band of ten guys can do after many hours of repetition:

consequently the music's more complex, but also this complexity rely on multiple instruments (as opposed to a guitar or saxophe solo). Saxophone. Yeah.

There's an interesting analogy to "classical" music there, if you replace the hard/software by a perfectly sight-reading orchestra - effectively a giant, human, and much more versatile pianola. Except all the knob twiddling has to be done inside your head.
