yeah i was just looking into her! good stuff. solely used an ARP 2500 until like 2004 or so. (eliane radigue)

dismayed boxing day was the only one to mention wendy carlos, pretty much everything she's done is grand. would recommend "sonic seasonings" quite highly.

Sonic Seasonings is class, my favorite of her releases. Though her work on The Shining is really strange and wonderful.

I first got ADNOS I-III which is a lovely box set and I think a good introduction, ADNOS III is fantastic. Triptych is great and I'm really liking Geelriandre / Arthesis (which is fairly recent, I think?) I like all of her stuff though, really inspiring.

krautrock/old electronic music is #1 pluder genre right now, so many hipster bands like the Engineers are making entire careers out of it

thats kind of why i decided to join in on the fun but not in a shitty way (or at least that's how i pat myself in the back)

im curious to hear which Gatekeeper track, that makes me slightly less excited about his music i had just assumed it was all recreated old school sounding stuff, not actually sampled.

Guest Lube Saibot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_0JftWlyf4

the whole beginning of the track is the whole beginning of Trellis + drums

just to clarify, I'm not entirely opposed to this, the way they segue into original material out of it is classy, and I've seen much more offensive "sampled the entire song" moments (duck sauce, DJ shadow's entire career, etc)

plus they say in an interview they only sampled anything this one time.

in a way, it's nice. like a reference. it's not like they're sampling anything that ever charted or something, it's not a lecherous approach. i agree with you about this genre being the no1 plunder genre atm... but i personally am joining into the fun. plus, vhs head has shown that it can be done sensibly and creatively.

I'm very surprised Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan have not been mentioned.

hehe no apology necessary, Deserted Palace is the only Jarre album that i think is truly great. I was just listening to it last night actually and meant to post it in this thread earlier.

It's a much more unique take on electronic music than his later stuff which fits much more comfortably into the Tangerine Dream/Schulze cannon
