It reminds me more of Japanese Koto music (erm, whatever genre that is) -

With that and the gamelan sounds of Parhelic Triangle it's definitely their most Eastern sounding album.

I thought that at first too. Now it just sounds like the blues to me, even though it's all pentatonic and doesn't have the "blue note" (not sure if that's the right term) in the scale. Something about the progression and the overall horizontal and vertical structure of it.

Also, Oversteps sounds WAY more Eastern to me, especially known(1) and pt2ph8.

Cold mercury being slowly injected into the brain

This track was used in a BBC4 documentary, set to a closeup of bacteria growing. The tiny, intricate sounds were the perfect compliment to these creatures, building and spiraling into completeness. A harmony between organic life and mechanical process.

I love the track title, too. "VI Scose Poise" literally means "poising the sixth album".

I think the French call the SI Pa-s unit a Poiseuille, but I'm probably not remembering that correctly.

edit: everything I knew about physics flew out of my mind about a decade ago

edit 2: if I'm right I honestly have no idea why I remember this one thing.

edit 3: The 'Chre

edit 4: googling this is just making me more confused
