Has anyone checked this label out? oMG, particularly the Borg and Grasslung releases, totally doing it for me. Borg is some sparse and sinister 4/4 stuff, kind of like if Burzum did a record for Basic Channel. Grasslung is really scary ambient/noise with some tearjerking atmospheric parts. they got mp3s on their catalog page, I think: http://www.phaserprone.com/catalog/

more fantastic buddhist mantra-ish stoner metal. they seem to have learnt the value of laying back on the distortion even more than on 'conference of the birds', parts of this are almost spirit-of-eden-era talk talk and shit. although some of it is heavy as fuck. cos they're a duo they can fuck around with dynamics and tempo and lay in and out of the groove in a lovely intuitive way. i love it. err and it's leaked obv

Roedelius Snapshots/Sidesteps Psychonavigation Now in his 70s, Hans-Joachim Roedelius is one of the most enduring 20th-century musical pioneers, but one who may not be sufficiently celebrated. A large portion of his reputation certainly extends from the earliest days, when, in 1968, he co-founded the Zodiak Free Arts Lab in Berlin and sowed the seeds for the legendary groups K/Cluster and Harmonia and their later ambient work with Brian Eno. He has continued to collaborate, experiment, and record, releasing nearly a solo album per year since the end of the '70s in a variety of styles. It's no surprise, then, to f…

[es32] Anton Batagov - "Passionate Desire to Be an Angel"
by Guest electrosound- 0 replies
ElectroSound is proudly presents the official internet re-issue of the original CD of the well-known russian composer Anton Batagov, first appeared on Longarms Records. The composition of this album is based on philosophy and practical instructions of the Great Masters of Alchemy. This music is an attempt to reconstitute the spirit of Coniunctio, an alchemical mystery. Alchemy knows a lot about opposite images, like water and fire, dryness and wetness, warmth and cold, the volatile and the fixed, the bodily and the spiritual, the Sun and the Moon, gold and silver, circle and square… The punk-style guitar riffs and vocal phrases adjoin with angelic choir, church …

This is out now and it's really good, if you like Pinback. It sounds pretty much like most of their other stuff... If you haven't heard them, this wouldn't be a bad one to start with. Here's a decent review I guess: Pitchfork Oh, and it came with a 3 song bonus disc as well. Cool.

Areavirus - Topofonie Vol. 1 Psychonavigation, based in Ireland, is a label that is making more and more of a noise these days (albeit a highly experimental ambient soothing one). Home of the Electric Penguins and David Bickley, their latest release is from Enrico Coniglio, a guitar player and composer based in Venice. AREAVIRUS topofonie vol.1 is a glitch-cum-ambient-cum-jazz album apparently inspired by the ambience of Venice lagoon. Although it bears little overall similarity to another Venice, that of Christian Fennesz, there seem to be similar techniques of sound capture and looping at work; but the tunes here share equal prominence with the sculpted sounds. Th…

only 100 copies of each 12" are being released ... apparently he'll be doing five over the course of the year. i signed up for the database a while ago, i'm not sure if you can still sign on, but probably. they cost $45 after shipping, which is a bit steep, but surely worth it. the first 12" will be sent out sometime this week (i managed to order two!)

tension in the ferric lakes
by Guest apy- 2 replies

Hello. This is a new, small limited edition release from Dissolved. There are around 6 Cd's left to buy if you'd still like one and about 4 of the tapes. 'Culled from a hoard of frail and badly labeled mystic cassettes from Dissolved, 'Tension in the ferric lakes' brings together some of these early Dissolved outings for the first time. Snippets of innocent and weird recordings, ancient delicate audio and memories caught on tape from as far back as 1991,have now been hand picked and assembled into this rare collection that takes those tapes and disassembles and warps them further. Almost entirely beatless, this is dark, nostalgic music and a sound that demands to …

Ewan Hennelly, aka Herv, has become one of Ireland's best-known electronic musicians over the past number of years, amassing a considerable catalogue of releases on labels both at home and abroad. Herv’s music is a frantic swarm of 8-bit melody and syncopated percussion, punctuated by warm wind instrument and layered violin and cello lines. Live, Herv works solely with a laptop and Nintendo Gameboy. While much of his recorded output concerns itself with complex melodic and percussive interplay, his live sets lean more towards the harder end of the electronic spectrum, mixing chaotic chip tunes alongside breakcore and gabba. In the past, Herv has played with artists s…
