Ween - La Cucaracha
by Guest mrx- 7 replies

"Ween: La Cucaracha, Coming 10/23/2007 ! For the past 20 years, Ween has established itself as a major artistic force, combining off-the-wall musical antics with brilliantly creative songwriting. La Cucaracha, Ween's new studio record, is an eclectic, dark, humorous, and bizarre assortment of songs. In other words, it's a typical Ween record. These thirteen tracks, though strongly diverse, share a common theme: relationships. It's a theme that can be at once joyful, morbid, humorous, and often frightening. From the tenderly introspective "Lullaby" to the disturbingly offensive "My Own Bare Hands," Ween pulls no punches in its latest endeavor, which acheives its power …

SIGNALS those of you who ignore this now, will regret it later. 6 records, 6 months, ltd. to 250 copies each. £30 all in (includes postage) most of the subs have already gone. some big names appearing later in the series too, at which point there will no doubt be a scramble by cynical ebayers to grab the last subs...

The worst Planet Mu release ever? I don't get it. A slowed down release of a mainstream rap song that was popular six months ago. Has Mike gone mental? I mean, I know Mike likes to release shitty breakcore, but this is way worse.

man, this band seems to go down in quality with every new release. seeing them live when they first started, i wish they hadn't tried to jump on the dance-rock bandwagon and include vocals. they come across now as a mix of The Cars, A Flock of Seagulls, and bad karaoke.

[es33] Maguett - "Ceramicboy"
by Guest electrosound- 0 replies

[es33] Maguett - "Ceramicboy" These are the words that Dmitry Drozdov says about his project and his album (author’s specific orthography is preserved): «Ceramicboy is a meeting of improvisations of emotional impulses making a part of my consciousness. The blanket of compositions reflects my musical predilections and initial aspirations for self-realisation in electro-samplers to system of co-ordinates. I do not see necessary to concretize images in the created compositions, the direction is in the album name. In the manual “It is volume a spatial composition” (1993) such writing of the French word “breadboard model” is specified (“Maguette”, in a correct writin…

flying lotus ~ 1983
by Guest tidbit- 9 replies

"We've been keeping an eye on Flying Lotus ever since hearing his awesome track on Plug Research Sound Of L.A. comps recently. His track really stood out and we were relishing the release of an album. With one foot in hip hop, he pulls all sorts of influences and sounds gracefully out of the sky, whilst clearly an electronic album, you can hear all kinds of influences being keenly twisted and blended into Flying Lotus' sound world, from Bernie Worrell's Parliament synths, to the ecstatic percussion of deep free jazz, Dilla's off kilter drums and Bossa Nova's stylish zest. This is true Afrofuturisim, and it's a wonderful album that like the best albums, might confuse you …

althought the band is unsigned since they were dropped by Island Blue, they are sending out CD-Rs of their new album to fans who write requesting one. they have stripped their sound down to an almost folk/acoustic brand of chillout. i'm diggin it. http://www.myspace.com/customblue

Just wondering if anyone else has picked this up and what they think of it? IMO Gonzalez has gone from strength to strength. There's a great confidence in his song writing here, and his guitar playing continues to be second to none. I honestly can't think of a bad track on here (my highlight has to be the last track, Cycling Trivialities). Your thoughts?

Milieu Three Space Songs MML008 3" CD-R 100 Copies This is a 3" CD-R that consists of, you guessed it, three space songs. These were all recorded earlier this year, during the New Drugs sessions, but were intended for release toward the end of the year because they're a completely new direction for Milieu music. The breaks and basslines and organ sounds are all still there, only now, the main melodies and chord progressions of the songs are played entirely on guitars. Probably the most organic and live sounding Milieu release yet, this is exactly what you can expect Milieu records to start sounding like next year. $5.00 plus shipping For MP3 clips and …

From his myspace: after 3 years of tinkering, knob turning, taping, and teetering on that ever-present-edge, my next album, LEVEL LIVE WIRES, is done and will be released in August '07 via anticon records. like my last LP, Burner, this new album features fine performances from the following folks: Doug, Josiah, and Yoni (WHY?), C. Adams (Hood / Bracken), Dee Kesler (Thee More Shallows), Jessica Bailiff, Tunde A. (TVOTR), Jel, and a few others...
