Dearest WATMM, Mine eyes hath seen! This month, Empire magazine ran an article on a film dubbed by those in the know as 'The Citizen Kane of Bad Movies'. This film is The Room, a film made back in 2003, which stars Tommy Wiseau, who also wrote, directed and produced. Up until reading this article, I was unaware of this movie. It's apparantly gained quite a cult following, so much so that it regualrly screens once a month in Los Angeles (and I think New York), where it attracts fans from all over to come and see the catastrophe on the silver screen. I subsequently investigated these claims on the interents, and having now seen the movie in its entirety, I c…

Backing Up A Massive Music COllection
by Guest Hanratty- 20 replies

Like many of you, I have a giant ridiculous collection of music, gigs and gigs on burned dvds. I also have a lot of cds and cdrs that I'd like to rip and keep on a hard drive. Does anyone know much about hard drives or bought one recently? I want a good one that won't break, so maybe I will have to buy two. Is the technology changing very fast so that in three years there will be something so much better available? What is the best hard drives for storing music?

how do you get dried mouse pee out of carpet?
by Guest my usernames always really suck- 18 replies

I've gotten my own crusted jizz out of carpet before and that was easy. But this is unbelievable. Vinegar doesn't work. Laundry stain remover doesn't work. Baking soda doesn't work. There's a spot in my living room where the carpet is crusted together in about an inch-wide circle, from when a mouse or vole or some kind of rodent chewed its way into my apartment a few weeks ago and it must have pissed there. How do I fix this, WATMM?

take your best shot. i woke up this morning and extended my hand and whilst the force lightning isn't quite there yet, all of the cars driving by had their lights suddenly turn on as if paying tribute to my burgeoning powers. i reiterate, take your best shot.

as some of you may know, i'm back in southern cali and i work at the place where i was before i left to florida a few years ago. some of you may also remember that i was a recipient of a "DISABLED BITCH SLAP!" while i was eating the western bacon cheese burger combo meal! well... today on my lunch break, i decided to walk the streets of sherman way! and guess who i saw lining up outside of carl's jr.? that same bastard that gave the the slap that i'll never forget! but instead of turning around and avoiding him like i did in the past, i walked on by and we made eye contact... his face started to scrunch up and i walked on by and smiled... of course i didn't eat at car…

Controversial Opinion Thread 1 2 3

I think everyone is implicitly racist in some fashion, towards some group of people. Whenever I discover someone eats meat or likes Rock music my opinion of them decreases. Honestly, 9 out of 10 people I come across I feel superior too.

Autechre Intermittent bursts of static
by Guest rufus- 7 replies
Listening to some old Autechre reminded me of the power of a bit of digital noise. It's used in films a lot as a tension thing isn't it? I have some kind of David Lynch / Trent Reznor / Darren Aronofsky scene cutting thing in my head with each cut interspersed with a hard hit of static but I can't place it right now and it's really bugging me. Is there a perfect bit of digital static? Or even a hierarchy?

For those not familiar with the actor (i know, i know), Harvey Keitel plays Mr. White in Reservoir Dogs, Winston (The Wolf) in Pulp Fiction, the Father, Jacob, in From Dusk till Dawn, Dad (or Satan) in Little Nicky, Judas in The Last Temptation of Christ, and countless roles, most in the genre of Police/Crime, in the 70's and 80's. For a lot of my friends, it has become a hobby to think of Harvey Keitel playing the role of a character in an existing film. For example: Harvey Keitel as Peter Parker in Sam Raimi's Spiderman. To make the scenerio work, you must picture Harvey not at the age of the character he is portraying, but as a middle-aged man, sweaty, mad, and most li…
