  1. That track IS excellent. I didn't know he was still active. I'm going to keep an eye on this, prob order it.
  2. I was excited for anthem but the reviews are almost universally negative? Like really bad.
  3. In the current market it might be tough, Alberta is in rough shape right now. Last year I had a really great opportunity which would have been more money, a bigger company (opportunity for advancement etc). But my current company led me to believe they would be consolidating the department (under me), paying me more, etc, only for that to be a croc o sh1t. They asked how much money I'd need to stay here, told me to update my wardrobe, asked how much I could travel per month, and so on. Then as soon as my opportunity lapsed they basically pretended none of that happened. ugh Well they've shown their hand , next time you won't hesitate or give them the opportunity to counter any offers. My thoughts : engage to the extent to get your job done, invest any extra emotional / cognitive energy into preparing for your next role :) that might mean going the extra mile now in your current job , but not for them , for you , so you can bolster your CV - u seem like a smart dude tho so I'm sure u already know dis Very good advice though. Thank you. Yeah I've made a decision, they have no intention of being good leaders or treating me well. Time to get things in motion to move on.

  5. ok rant time. Nothing much I guess? I bugged the VP of the company about it for a solid hour today. It's not actually the pay that's bothering me - it's knowing that my colleague in the same department in another city (we're a 3 person dept lol) got the same raise but does almost literally nothing (he has approximately 8hrs of scheduled work per month? the rest is supposed to be program development etc). All content development, program strategy, document maintence, auditing, etc is done by me. The bureaucracy is frustrating - I'm more of a subject matter expert than my boss, so I have to point out to my boss what mr colleague is missing/doing wrong (we're regulated by external guidelines, so me saying something is missing is objective/fact, not just me being a dink), and then I have to tell my boss when to follow up on mr colleagues work, and then he does follow up, and then the work gets re-assigned to me because it wasn't done properly by mr colleague to begin with. I still have to do quality control on all parts of mr colleagues work each month - all of his work is sent to me in a monthly packet for me to review and approve. I'm not exaggerating when I say 95% of the work is done by me, made even more frustrating by the fact that I'm managing the department through my boss. He's not managing anything the way its setup? Top it off with Mr colleague submitting thousands of dollars in fraudulent overtime sheets over the summer only to still have a job? Literally making more money than me for doing almost nothing. but alas - I'm compensated to a comfortable tune so have nothing real to bitch about. I should just be complacent and thankful to have a job etc.
  6. Congrats Zeph, you are now a certified neo-nazi by association. (that's how the world works these days isn't it??)
  7. I got sucked back into Grim Dawn, anticipating the new expansion out soon. 416hrs played already though =/
  8. Yeah, the monthly joint series is amazing. Quality approaching album proper! If you haven't heard all of those tracks please dig in. Particularly Shutdown, Technique, and Hey Mr Tree - for whatever reason massive Tipper vibes throughout. Highly recommended.
  9. I LOVE sours but they're usually low ABV. Which, as an alcoholic on a budget, sometimes makes them a tough purchase lol.
  10. Very scary stuff. I'm happy to hear there were no casualties, who knows what could have happened if the fire broke out overnight. ugh.
  11. I've been following this on the book of faces, sorry to hear you're going through that. But definitely lucky it wasn't much worse!
  12. yea not v memorable, still sounds kinda amon tobin tho.. I'm curious how the rest will turn out It def sounded like Tobin to me! Just not memorable like you said. Tobin-lite. I have a feeling most of the record is going to be similar, based on the bpms someone posted I'm thinking this is tobin-ambientish stuff.
  13. Usually in a drinking sesh we share a few crafty beers but break them up with a nice crisp plain lager or pils almost like a palette cleanser I guess. Some of the craft beers are like drinking a bowl of cereal lol. But yeah have to agree with you guys some of the breweries are way overdoing it. Pumpkin spice donut cake beer etc. wtf. That said I drank a bottle of weasel shit coffee beer once so I guess I can't talk. kopi luwak or whatever it's called.
  14. The catnip wasn't just sitting there either - he had to break into that cabinet on the left hand of the pic and steal it off the second shelf (about 2 feet up?). He must have really been jonesin'. <3
  15. Any thoughts on that first track? I thought it was kind of weak.
  16. 50/50 guilt + the drugs kicking in! lol. We laughed so hard. He's like al caTpone in scarface. Lol also lol did you give korgy some valentines day gift here? where's your hand?
  17. It's a fine line though isn't it? Having a similar sound/"doing something they've already done" is part of what gives them an identity as an artist. Isn't that why you get excited when artist xxxxx is releasing a new album, partially because you know what to expect? =/ you have a point, which is why for me this doesn't apply to all artists... Some artists I listen to cause they do what they do and I enjoy it, even when it's variations on a theme. What I've come to expect though from OPN is for him to come up with wildly different stuff every release cycle, and having him back to square 1 would be a disappointment also I guess this is why these last few years of Autechre havent excited me that much Ah yeah, fair point. Guess we will see what OPN does next, probably next year though. edit: and I get it - for example each autechre release is undeniably autechre but you get some variation in sound from era to era - this is my least fav autechre "era" lol. I guess what you're saying is you wouldn't mind if OPN moved on to his next sound?
  18. then tell me why you listen to all 600 of merzbows albums? Because you like merzbow. That is literally why anyone buys any album from any artist is because it's that artist. If every time you bought an autechre release it skipped around between sounding like autechre to sounding like britney spears to sounding like maroon 5 you wouldn't buy autechre. You buy it because you know it's going to sound like autechre.

  20. Unfortunately I only got the digital vinals of the album - not throwing my lappy in the pond !
