  1. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/18/texas-power-outages-ercot/ Wild that it even got to this point...literal minutes from societal breakdown.
  2. https://boomkat.com/products/cygnus-sutra https://blkrtz.bandcamp.com/album/cygnus-sutra Elements of dub techno, mixed with classic Detroit vibes...and oh the strings! Kinda hard to categorize, but this one is real good, folks.
  3. I don’t think I’ve ever been so angry about something in my life...and I’ve lived through disasters and mismanagement in Houston for years. My family and I have been on a year hiatus for my wife’s job up in St. Louis, but are supposed to move back down there by summer i.e. hurricane season. Right now 90% of my friends, family (including almost 90 year old grandmother), and former students I taught that I have reached out to are either without power, water, or both. Still. People are suffering and dying there - rich and poor. This “fiercely independent” culture has left this state completely unprepared for climate change and have left millions of people completely vulnerable. I’m terrified of the future and am scared that I won’t be able to protect my family. Oh...and FUCK Ted Cruz.
  4. Yeah. Loved that Mokira one. But to be honest, I may have only listened a couple times. Will have to dust it off.
  5. Bro. Take a break from cyberpunk and come talk about crusty 90s electronica w me in the New Releases forum.
  6. Fellow dads: Bowser’s Fury is super fun to play with your kids. Multiplayer is ideal for playing with someone less skilled and the “open world” is a really neat mash-up of level based Mario and free range exploration.
  7. Btw, has anyone heard the archival tracks from the 21 Again box? There are several great tunes on there that should have been released back in the 90s. I mean, listen to this:
  8. I remember first listening to those Tape Beatles albums in the early 00s and thinking “holy shit - that’s like half the samples on Orbus”. Considering they were rip-off artists themselves, it doesn’t phase me too much. Plus all the musical parts of Orbus aside from Alex’s piano (ha) are other producers. Speaking of Tape Beatles, anyone familiar with People Like Us? To me, she is way better at the postmodern cut and paste stuff. The Mirror is an incredible album/sound collage. https://peoplelikeus-vickibennett.bandcamp.com/album/the-mirror
  9. https://nn-audio.bandcamp.com/album/this-is-jazz Not a part of the archive, but rather a compilation of some of his jazziest tunes across his discog. Really great flow to this comp (even though I had most of the tracks already). Lots of Flanger vibes. Love the terrible stock artwork too. Lol.
  10. You still have power? Got a lot of friends freezing their asses off in Houston.
  11. Eau Rouge is one of my favorite tracks by any artist, ever.
  12. Love anything Marco puts out. He shared with me that he has an album of new material coming out hopefully in April/May. Oh man. Need digis.
  13. https://kontra-musik.bandcamp.com/album/syra Don't know how I missed this one. Tilliander is great and his last TM404 album still gets regular plays from me. Nice, slow dubbed out acid.
  14. Absolutely essential. Despite releasing so few tracks in comparison to his Likeminded peers, Nuron was one of the greatest producers of that era. I’ve been lucky enough to listen to this and will say that the remaster sounds crystal clear. Considering the only way I was able to hear these tracks for many years were low quality vinyl rips, this is especially nice. Also a super nice guy.
  15. See this is my issue (and i think many of yours) with listening to modern MoM. Literally every album (and almost every ep and one off track) they put out in the 90s was bouncy, fun, cerebral...and most of all very human sounding. Their output during this period was just about peerless imo - especially Iahora, Autoditacker, and Instrumentals - which I feel are timeless classics. It is almost not fair to compare their more recent works to the 90s era. But yesterday I listened to Autoditacker then followed up with AAI, which I probably shouldn't have done. That being said, AAI was a very engaging listen and I plan on listening again more often. I guess the AI/generative aspect of this is the point of this set -- I can see it being very appealing to fans of that generative Conditional recs type sound. Their signature voice is definitely there, and there are some really great tracks, interspersed with some spoken word and more experimental interludes. A lot of it reminds me of some of the more rhythmic stuff Vladislav Delay was putting out when he did that ep set a few years back. Curious to see what everyone else thinks about this.
  16. Big hype. @Bambi Spill the beans?
  17. A perfect tune. @Hugh Mughnus I’ll let you know after I finish Audoditacker for the millionth time.
