about skipping tracks on syro... I end up skippping minipops and listen to the rest of the album in a row. probably I listened to much to it when it came out and in some ways, it doesn't seems to fit with the rest of the tracks. I love aisatsana at the end

No, trust me - this will be very exciting - when (if) this comes to fruition, it will blow peoples' minds - it blew mine! And you thought druqks was quite good!... I wonder if my mind will explode lol no, but you'll be able to do this I misread the post and thought Joyrex was talking about new music... my fault... but the complimentary gif is cool, glad I misread :D

That's what happened to me too with the london event :( but I discovered on the same day of the event just 8 hours before it was due and I couldn't find a reasonably priced airiplane ticket to go there... I was mad about it for two days in a row

your avatar is a perfect companion to your post. just stop it and you are good to go. if there's one thing that syro is all about is being yourself artistically, so there's no use in trying to replicate that. Enjoy yourself, fall in love, feel good. Music will follow.

What makes Syro impressive is that, in a world of copycats and of people who want artists to be their own copycats, Aphex Twin is always just himself and his music is always evolving and the same at the same time... Syro would not be an aphex twin record if it sounded like some other record by himself. He just does what he feels when he feel it. And you can feel that. You may not like it, but you can defintely feel that.

Anything you look for can be found in his previous work, so prolly you are looking in the wrong place for those things. As far as the bird samples on the piano track (chich is actually the only thing you are mentioning about syro), well I think it's somewhat out of place too (mostly because it makes me think about possibly maybe by bjork), but it's his choice and it's not a big deal really.

Well, after the first thorough listen on headphones, I have to say that I really like this release. I was getting scared after the first two tracks, cos they were not getting me (well, minipops I listened to like a 100 times so it was understandable, but the second track I didn't got it at first listen). After track 3 and on, well, the record starts there for me. Lots of funkiness which I like very much. I don't get reviews that speak about "not breaking new ground"... what the fucs! It seems like they did not listen to the album. The mix of new and old style it's mesmerizing, and it's someone who knows what he's doing that it's at work. So, what they do complain about? They probably can't tell a good record from a chicken. I also really like the general dirty vibe of the tracks: they are polished and raw at the same time. At times I can hear distortion, but, as for any other aphex record, it feels to me like it was intentional, so welcome distortion. The only minor thing about the piano track is that the chirpy sounds of birds in the background together with the opening arpeggio made me immediately think about the arpeggio which opens possibly maybe by bjork. I hadn't realized the similarity before hearing it in those at the barbican videos. Now it seems that it will take a while to unheard that and to properly enjoy the closing track. p.s. I bought it from a record store: I like the idea of phisically going to a place to find it. But I reckon that it has to be difficult for those who live in a small city. Most of the record stores have closed here, and I live in a big city.

Through a Glass Darkly (1961) The Rite (1969) Wild Strawberries (1957) Persona (1966) All by Ingmar Bergman. I never saw Bergman's film before, so I took advantage of a film festival dedicated to him and saw those four movies over three days. I have to say that despite their "heavyness" I felt them to be quite refreshing: rarely I've seen movies that give you the feeling that they were made exactly as the director had in mind. You may not like them, but you have to admit they are perfectly done, meaning that they are the perfect tangible representation of what the director had in mind. I would recommend watching "Persona" (you will understand which was the movie that inspired Mullholland Drive by Lynch) and "The Rite" (guess where kubrick took inspiration for Eyes Wide Shut orgy scenes and soundtrack). I would have liked to see "The seventh seal" as well, but when I discovered the festival, they had already screened it. p.s. women in bergman films are wonderful.

Would you try to go live to some other country? Which one? And why? Report the country (or state) you live in. On my part, I'd rather not move from italy but I think I should cos I feel like people here just enjoys eating and chatting and they rely too much on who they know instead of what they know. I think that anywhere northern than here should be better. I would miss the weather tho.

Drift Nosaj Thing I don't listen to full albums that much anymore, but this one I enjoy quite a bit. Very well produced with an emphasis on sounds, hip hop influences, the album is very tight and every track flows naturally into the next one. Very enjoyable as a full album listening. at first I thought it was just chaotic and claustrophobic. but it had some moments of awe, so I just gave it a second chance. but then the awesomess moments were not where I remembered them (different speakers, different headphones) so I gave sme other chances. today It struck me that these tracks are almost (surprise!) soothing and melanchonic, like they are treasuring very shy emotions. soundwise, it's still alittle bit crammed, to my ears. I can definetly feel a difference if I listen to confield, which is my only other ae album that I like (probably I also like chiastic slide, but I dunno). But confield is like it's about demons and anger, exai is more about forgiveness and contentedness. But I may change opinion in time. dunno if exai will stand the test of time. For now, it's pretty satisfactory.

I don't know you and your story (other watmmers here seems they do)... but... you're 33... i'm almost 39... I can say to you that it happens. I may say it will last until 37. "Where have all of the flowers gone?" and that kinda shit. Then one day you'll realize you are really getting older and you will not give a shit about your crisis, you'll only be eager to get things done, stay fit and enjoy your time. You may even end up regretting having a crisis at all. But it will have served you to escape the other big crisis, the 50's one (at least I hope). As for the jacket, I'd say don't do anything that you think it will make you feel younger, it will make you feel older. Just embrace your age, if you can. Embrace the crisis, don't fight it.
